A nice review with additional non car related stuff added in to make us laugh. Flaviana adds the magic ingredient to the EV recipe. She takes on many roles in the video by firstly starting as the car reviewer, directing the camera shots, giving her opinion about the car’s features, advising us about chickens as a pet, and providing her feedback on an introvert getting involved with a school camping trip…. good point on the drive selector. Not looking forward to Tesla possibly moving that to touchscreen/buttons - having to look to change gears isn’t practical when parking
I’ve done 6.5k miles in mine since end of March. It’s really good. Fair efficiency if driven carefully. I’ve only accidentally put wipers on twice. 22kw ac charging can be a way of getting cheaper fairly fast top ups.
Flaviana returns. We were about to have the authorities to perform a welfare check to see if you had done anything to her. We see she is well and quite enthused about her next car review. She is a modern day Mona Lisa. A National treasure.
Just in the process of researching before stepping to the 'dark side' and discovered your channel. It's both extremely informative, and at times (especially when Flaviana is involved), hilarious. The balance and contrast between you both is great. You have a very natural 'yin-yang' chemistry. Keep up the great content. Current shortlist between used BMW I3s or Model 3 LR (I know, very different animals in terms of range and performance etc. but it just seems so much car for the money at around 20k). Probably end up with a Kia then!
Thanks very much! We love the i3 - it’s a design classic. The Model 3 is definitely the more capable family car though - especially for long journeys as the i3’s little tyres make it a bit jittery at high speeds. Whatever you get (even Kia!) I’m sure you’ll love it.
Never driven the car, but can see that Flaviana is right about the gear and wiper control positioning being a major design flaw. They should ask her to drive the prototypes for a few weeks, before they commit to the final production layout, as she identifies things the ‘experts’ seem to miss.

I will try and you're not the only person asking! Finding time has been difficult recently. Our solar has made little difference in winter as we get so little from our 2kW array, but it easily covers the cooling in summer. Trying to calculate all that will take me ages but I'll have to see what kind of data I can extract from the Zappi.

What is it with EV’s and square steering wheels? The new Volvo EX30 has one too. Back in the 70’s the much maligned Austin Allegro was slated so much for its square steering wheel at launch that British Leyland changed it. I guess the world wasn’t ready for such avant-garde innovation back then!

Hello EV family ! Compared to the IONIQ5, would you say that the trunk is massively smaller or rather close ? It’s hard to tell from pictures / videos. Thank you for the great review !
You could probably fit another large luggage bag and carry-on bag in the IONIQ 5's trunk. That'd be an interesting comparison, actually. I tend to film the same test with the luggage we have (still to edit for the Megane) so I could perhaps make a video easily comparing to Niro, Model 3, Model Y, IONIQ 5 and whatever else I've done it with!
It’s odd and bad that the euro version of this has the 12in centre screen, but we get the 9in. They can’t say they can’t do it because the Austral has the 12in screen in the UK version. Which looks like the same screen. Have you questioned this Andrew? Ask Renault why it is?
Not considered safe/good practice, not illegal in UK, however if stopped, it is at the discretion of the police whether you are in full control or not. 🚘👍
I added a comment last night stating it is illegal to drive bare foot. I was incorrect making that statement and stand correct by it However only a foolish person will drive bare footed. You cannot apply the same pressure on the brake peddle bare footed compared to wearing shoes, also wet feet could easily slip from the pedal. If your cought in an accident driving barefooted you can get prosecuted. An intelligent careful driver will wear appropriate clothing whilst driving.
@@alanmatthews6412utter nonsense, clearly you have never tried it, I’ve driven with and without shoes for 35 years and probably close to 1million miles.. on motorways, on a race track.. also this is with cars both with and without servo and ABS assistance, shoes dampen the feel… far safer than someone with flip flops or high heels.. sure you have to be in control of your car legally, but nothing prevent you not wearing shoes… Flaviana is correct, you are more connected when you are barefoot..
I wonder why we cannot reverse by using pedals only. I imagine pressing brake and accelerator would work just fine. It is all software based anyway these days, so it could be made idiot-proof relatively easy. EVs just need forward and backward. Even park status can be automatic if it already isn't.

@@MrEV that would be a very very interesting video !
Flaviana is the best! Honest opinions with great and humours side stories . What else do you want for a riveting video about cars? 😅
That centre headrest in the rear zeems to block the view completely.
Yes, it does. Rear visibility is not great.
Should try the MG4 for a cheaper car review
I'm hoping to get hold of one later in the year.
It’s odd and bad that the euro version of this has the 12in centre screen, but we get the 9in. They can’t say they can’t do it because the Austral has the 12in screen in the UK version. Which looks like the same screen. Have you questioned this Andrew? Ask Renault why it is?
Serious question: if is raining and you accidentally hit the car drive selector while driving, does it put the car into neutral or worse?
Fantastique as usual
Thank you Fluffiana, it called you in the subtitles.....
That should be my pet name for her! 😀

Flaviana is the best. You need to bribe her more to be on camera.
Grande Flaviana, daje!!!
I’m with Flaviana on the barefoot driving - all summer long!
Not considered safe/good practice, not illegal in UK, however if stopped, it is at the discretion of the police whether you are in full control or not. 🚘👍
I added a comment last night stating it is illegal to drive bare foot. I was incorrect making that statement and stand correct by it
However only a foolish person will drive bare footed. You cannot apply the same pressure on the brake peddle bare footed compared to wearing shoes, also wet feet could easily slip from the pedal. If your cought in an accident driving barefooted you can get prosecuted. An intelligent careful driver will wear appropriate clothing whilst driving.
@@alanmatthews6412 Totally agree with that 👍
@@alanmatthews6412utter nonsense, clearly you have never tried it, I’ve driven with and without shoes for 35 years and probably close to 1million miles.. on motorways, on a race track.. also this is with cars both with and without servo and ABS assistance, shoes dampen the feel… far safer than someone with flip flops or high heels.. sure you have to be in control of your car legally, but nothing prevent you not wearing shoes…
Flaviana is correct, you are more connected when you are barefoot..
What an entertaining lady. Well done.
Basically it’s an excellent car?
Brilliant 👍🍿
I wonder why we cannot reverse by using pedals only. I imagine pressing brake and accelerator would work just fine. It is all software based anyway these days, so it could be made idiot-proof relatively easy. EVs just need forward and backward. Even park status can be automatic if it already isn't.
