OMG I'm playing atm and it's SO FUN! Even though it's just character creation. The photo mode poses and faces are great! I think the last time I had so much fun with character creation was when I played The Sims 2

I agree, the smartest move would be to differentiate themselves from InZoi more rather than try to replicate it. Hopefully, the developers don’t try and copy InZoi cause EA is gonna go down in flames if it tries to be better. They need to stand out not be better.
Yeah, one thing I love more about the sims than inzoi, it's that it's not totally realistic and there are tons of silly situations 😭

I have seen other people playing and there are filters in the game to play it in the way you like it, like cartoonish, drawing, etc

well… no. we’ve had competition growing for about 5 years now.
Chances are sims will still be the go to despite competition being flatout better simply due to brand recognition.

There's actually a roadmap publically available for Paralives, they've completed A TON with several things still in development, but I think at their pace they're gonna make their 2025 early access goal.
I really hope so, I love TS4 but it’d be so nice to try a new life sim game! My computer probs can’t run TS3 so the more of these types of games I can try, the better :)

@@roach5367 Odds are actually high your computer can run TS3, it doesn't need anything top of the line by today's standards and each save only has access to one World, but you have to cap the frame rate because the Maxis devs didn't code one into the game and it can fry the video card without any limits. nraas has tips on what to do as well as CC that helps a lot. That said, I don't blame you if you're lazy and don't wanna lol it's the only reason I haven't gotten around to doing it myself. I'm also eager for Paralives ofc.

I think that's the only reason sims hasn't made their games more realistic and upscale . That way anyone can play it on most modern laptops or pcs. Much more marketable
Plus, last time they leaned into realism everyone called them potato faces. So, they leaned hard the other way instead.

My opening video froze just like yours did, but the character creator part seemed to work fine. At first I was confused because I started with a child and they don't have the push-pull options. You have to change them as an older Zoi then age them down. Which makes sense, I guess. I love how you can see how they will look at various ages.

@@wizdomxm I'm not that person but my desktop did the same freezing thing with the opening video and worked fine in the character creator. I use Windows 10, AMD Ryzen 5 3600, RTX 3060 12GB, 16GB RAM, DirectX 12, and plenty of space in the drive for it. The only thing close to the minimum is the CPU, the rest are or are close to the recommended specs.
@@salientspoon same here but i5 12400f procesor and 32gb ram same card had the same freezing on the start but after todays update it is fine for me.
my opening video also froze. i have a 4070 ti super, ryzen 7 7800x3d, and 32gb ram so…definitely the game and not anybody’s PCs.

They are. Another youtuber got to play the game earlier and talked with the devs. They said they were in the process of optimizing the game even more. I just hope they can figure out how to lessen the CPU load during gameplay by the time it comes out.

So, patents are usually enforced internationally, because there are treaties on this.
But, like, imagine machine 1 that does thing A and is patented by company X. If company Y makes the same machine 1, that does A, that violates the patent. But if company Y makes a different machine, machine 2, that works very differently, but still manages to do A, or if it does A', which is very similar to A, but that is just technically different enough, then that doesn’t break the patent.
It’s possible the programming here is different, or maybe those little dots on the face serve a function that’s just different enough to make it legally distinct.

@@lucideandre some patents are bogus, but patents do have a reason to exist, it's so that society doesn't regress into an age of having to many trade secrets.
I think EA won't be able to defend their patent and tbh, it should be time to crack this quality of life feature wide open.
Patents are about making sure an inventor gets their fair amount of pay after investing in research and development... this is a bogus patent. I think patents should be tied to the amount of money spent on research, if you sue someone for breaking patents, you are only expected to get royalties until the patent runs out, and it's proportional to the amount of money spent on researching the tech. Like if some biotech company creates the new cure for breast cancer and they spent like 20 million dollars to hire 200 scientists yeah it probably makes sense that they get to cash in on their patent. But in those cases it's expected that other companies make use of the research and are happy to pay royalties because they wouldn't have been able to research it themselves...

Cool to see you playing this now, I was really excited about Life By You and it was really cool to see you partnering with them, but we all know what ended up happening with that game. Really hoping inzoi does fully release, at this point I definitely think it will but I also know not to put all my hope into it because we have seen what happens most of the time with these new life sims
dont hope that much. this game is too detailed and i dont think the dev team will be able to optimize it sufficiently. the world's going to be very, very dead so that it doesnt kill your pc. very small number of npcs.
Life by you kind of belongs to Tencent, so does this game. Life by you actually looks like an early concept of inzoi. The game so far is not looking great, the trailer actually has some scenes where it has a lag.
I've watched a lot of gameplay over the weekend. There's definitely some kinks and rough parts that need to be addressed. But compared to LbY, this looks more polished and almost ready to launch. Best to just wait and see though.
@evrenisprettyuniversal I've only watched one game play video by Pixelade, for an unfinished version of the game so far, but the beach didn't look too empty other than he showed up right around sunset when most people would go home. Need to see what it was like during the day to test this theory. The weirdest thing were NPC Zois walking up to use the surf boards on the sand while his Zoi was chatting with a food vendor, but there were multiple cars creating actual traffic in the roads, being driven by actual NPCs, right outside his Zoi's apartment. (Also, InZoi has usable dumbbells lol.)
Pixelade drove his Zoi's car until he realized that he had already passed it, so he parallel parked, and got out to walk to the volleyball game (which he quickly forgot about but there were some Zois there and a volleyball he could pick up.) You can roll the car windows up and down too, while the InZoi remains sitting inside the vehicle, and it was very smooth. He didn't seem to be having much trouble with InZoi overall but we'll have to wait and see what the final version is like.

from what i've seen from other people playing on youtube, the generative AI is for clothing designs and players upload photos that they want to use as textures to design clothing items. i don't know if they have a photo bank that they use to generate clothing items and i don't know if that's the only use of generative AI in the game.
the AI is used to make patterns and there's a function to 3d print objects from your own pictures.
At the current point, I don't believe there is any other use of it.
I’l be blunt, does it actually use any newly developed AI model from the last 2~ years, or was it a previously existing automatic feature that got rebranded as 'Ai' for marketing. Because that has happened before
It's so dumb and scummy that EA has a patent on push and pull features in character creation. Also tbh I don't like how this game uses generative images, we don't know if the model they're using uses ethically sourced images to train it off of and they've been quiet about it. Most of what the image generator spits out also have a lot of AI jankiness in my experience. I think it would've been better if they just gave us pre-made patterns/textures to choose from.
Hell, they literally have the option to upload your own textures in game for clothing. That literally lets you do everything an AI generator can without needing to question if their data set is ethical or not. Why do we need a feature to AI generate textures when you can just google image search the texture you want and pop it into the game? Screw generating a fake spy movie poster with 7 fingers, I’m just gonna pop in an actual James Bond poster because it will look better and I get more say on how it looks💀
While I’m cautiously optimistic for this game, the whole AI textures thing feels like an attempt to cash in on a trend rather than genuinely being something worth having. I genuinely think they could remove it without much issue because they’ve literally also implemented a better alternative.

Back in the day Sims 2 required a "high end" PC when it first came out. Same with Sims 3 and 4. New games always push the limits but in a few years the tech needed to run Inzoi will be more common and cheaper, and more people will be able to play it. It really highlights how OLD Sims 4 is. Plus that game runs on consoles so it's throttled by that.
In a few years LOL. Nobody is going to wait a few years just to play a game. They will just spend their money on games that are not demanding on specs

My big thing is there has been no hint at any occults in any of these games. I'm glad realistic players have options now but unless they have occults like vampires and werewolves it's still a hard sell for me. So far none of these games are wanting that in their game (and that's fine) but as long as sims keeps them we'll not be jumping ship
Speaking as an occult player, I understand why none of them are focusing on occults right now. Occults need all the same basic things a human character does: food/rest, socializing, work and play. Unless occult characters are the main theme of the game it just makes more sense to hammer out those core mechanics with a regular human first before making the occult variations on them.

@@wout123100 yeah i think you can probably get a lot of performance out of it, they probably will need to make graphics settings the first thing to set up before even entering the game. Kinda like some horror games make you choose the brightness

I have a pretty good gaming PC so no problems here, managed to run perfectly on the highest settings. But I agree that it sucks that not everyone is able to play because of their hardware but it's honestly the best decision they could have made, if they want to push the boundaries and make the game a next gen life sim they have to make it more high end in terms of hardware. The Sims 4 is still the same game that launched in 2014 and it's age is showing and one of the reasons why it's because they made the game not to dependent on having modern hardware so it can run even on potatoes, but let's be honest The reason they made it was not because they cared about their fanbase not being able to play and such but because by doing that it mean more people have access to the game so they can sell more dlc.
I'm sorry but the folks saying it's not a Sims competitor due to hardware requirements are insane, I have lost track of how many simmers try to say bug when it is literally them using a computer too weak to play 💀 and let's not forget how poorly it runs on consoles, and owning few to no expansions doesn't help with these issues.
Honestly it's only a competitor for realistic sim players. For occult or fantasy players there's nothing really there for us yet.
These simmers really expected everything to be put in early access, when it's still in development, like chill, be patient, the dev will probably have it optimized by the release date.
Plus, the graphics card inZOI requires is SIX years old and the processor it requires is FIVE years old at this point. It's absolutely NOT an unreasonable hardware requirement lol. Most people can meet that minimum, and most have upgraded within the last fiveish years as well. It just can't run on laptops and desktops from a decade ago, which is FINE. Technology will always be advancing and to hold back because of a few people who can't upgrade wouldn't be fair to the rest of us who have the components to handle it.

Exactly, though I’m excited about it I’m not too excited about the requirements and because of that unfortunately it will keep a lot of sims players on the sims instead sadly.

And from personal experience, that’s because a lot of sims players aren’t people that have gaming laptops/play other games. Scratch that, Sims 4 is sometimes the only game they’ve played.
I do hope people have enough sense to realise that a laptop built for office work or one that is over 10 years old isn’t gonna be able to run the game well if at all on high settings and such.
The components it requires are five and six years old (CPU and GPU). What about that can the average person not do? 90% of the people I know have a PC that would have the components required for this game and it's not like I'm surrounded by rich people. Just average people. If they've upgraded their PCs in the last five years or so, most people should be fine.

15 minutes in, my photoshop PC sounded like a helicopter about to take off and I had to close it.
I think Krafton was sneaky when it comes to push and pull mechanics due to that you need to press on a "indicator" first to start editting the part of the body you want to edit, while in Sims 4 you just press and pull on the body part you're editting and I think that's how they likely won't get into trouble with EA, their mechanic works slighty different which I think EA didn't think of patenting

Actually the game has filters or shaders, and it can look more like the sims and not just realistic, so for people that like the cartoon aspect of Sims 4, it has that also.

It's a publicly available playable demo. They're already at the optimization stage. We are the optimization test.
No it doesn't, object & clothing asset optimization are part of the creation pipeline, and they are a major player in slowing the game down. 🙂

I hate that i completely slept under a rock and i am just learning about this game. I need this game so much. I've been waiting for a Sims-like game that really is trying to push technology and NOT look like Forknite.
The problem with the ai image generation isn't just the possibility of art theft but the environmental impact as well, it takes a lot of energy! Its unfortunate to see that aspect of it often swept under the rug when it was very front and center with the similarly power intensive nft craze

It looks amazing. I'll likely play it for a bit. However, I worry about the graphics, as most games I'm aware of that use hyper-realistic graphics do not age well. This is why games like WoW and The Sims still look good despite being as old as they are.

I honestly would like to try this game but I'm not particularly excited about it because a) it doesn't run on Mac and 2) I could not afford a computer that would runs this.
One thing about the sims 4, at least in the beginning, is that it set out to at least be able to run on lower end computers, and with the free base game, tried to make it accessible to as many as possible. This game is not looking for that same audience.

Same here. While I'm glad The Sims finally has some serious competition & as much as I enjoyed playing the demo, it was a little to clunky/unintuitive for me to truly enjoy, and the thought of it being AI is a major turn off. That & my computer (despite being almost new) really struggled at the same place FGG's did.

Unless you make you inzoi on some places fatter, then a lot of clothes clip in. I'm 55 years old, but I look like about 35 till 39, I can't make a middle age me with the skin of a 35 year old. The texture that you can put in is only a photo that you put in and it's not taking the texture of the photo. I had higher expects of this game, from what they showed.

I remember when I got sims, I had to get a new computer. then I got sims 2 and I had to get a new computer.
A big part of why Sims 4 runs on most low spec PCs easily is that it's a decade old.
I just got a new pc so i am curious how it works. But I had my reservations about a hyper realistic game like this but i honestly am more excited about it now that i see the gameplay.
Actually from watching someone else play a pre version of the game, there are actually filters that can make the game look more like the Sims or more like Paralives, so you actually won't have to play hyper realistic if you don't want to

I mean, even if S.Korea is a predominantly christian country, there are asian countries, like Malaysia, that are predominantly muslim. So I don't see why an asian game developer couldn't take other asian countries into consideration and have hijabs included.

Ngl, I don't think this will dethrone Sims.
Firstly don't see any goofyness, or stylization which will turn those realistic graphics stale after a while. Character is what makes a game, and why Sims is so long standing too. Not to mention the lore with Sims too.
Secondly, PC problems, optimization, etc.
And thirdly, there'll be so much microtransactions in the game I guarantee it. They'll give EA a run for their money I'm sure.
Overall, I'm not interested in a fully realistic life simulator when I'm here trying to get my own life together. Like I play games to relax and have fun, step away from my life a bit. Not just step into another one and have more problems there too.
I have said, this is someone's game but not mine. My modded sims has literal everything that matters to me in gameplay (and most of the mods I use are gameplay mods, my aesthetic is still generally Maxis match). The only thing I covet in Inzoi is the cars and the open world, but I'm not trading what I have for worse character interactions. And until I see the whole family pack into the car and go to the beach or something or teach a teen to drive even tho the cars are....I need more. I'm gonna keep holding without buying any new EA packs and wait for Paralives which seems like it's gonna have more of what I actually want.
Probably won't since there are dumb simmers who wills till play it anyway.

Thanks for you onest reaction to this, i saw from some gameplay that you can't enter waters when you are at the beach and your character can't even leave his own footprints on the sand. For a game this realistic i was expecting to look on these little details. I hope this get implemented so i can feel more immersion through the scenery. And i hope the can let you be goofie not just a 'seriuos and realistic simulation game where no silly things can happen!' i don't wish for just family, carreers, housebuilding, selfies and that's all. I hope they could adding supernatural and fantasy to it. Maybe it's early for it.

Honestly if I had a computer to run this, I would use this to create original characters and use as a reference sheet for drawing. This is an amazing tool for artists to learn anatomy, facial features, how to colour skin tones properly, and so much more. Even screenshots of this game would be enough to learn off of

honestly im glad that this game need high end computer to run, yeah nowadays u need a PC that can buy you a car to run AAA games, its about time to face it lol, life sim game is a big deal, not an indie cozy type of stuff
You do realise that by taking that route, the game studio is effectively cutting their potential market in half? If the game doesn't sell well because of being so hard on performance, then it won't push life sims forward to the next level, because the next one to come will not take that risk.

It would be so cool to have bodily features in the game, especially if ur character is a female. just like the "slice of life" mod for sims, i wish female sims can menstruate, have a luteal phase, etc. just so it can add to realism. i wish they'd follow the female cycle from start to finish which can affect the sims mood, body, etc. and there will be effects depending on what they did during that day or whatever.
wait how tf does a company get a PATENT on something like a MECHANIC (the push and pull create-a-sim). not a competitor for me until it can run just slightly better on a more normal computer. if only the top specs can play it, it doesn't seem like it'll have much going for it imo

So,I was a huge Sims fan,but my aunt...oh God,she's THE fan.Has all the Sims 4 DLC's and maybe the most extravagant and wacky set of mods I've ever seen in a game.She adores Sims with all her soul and I used to play it with her until she took a plane and now it's currently living in USA.I think it would be a power move if I tried out this game for her.
People that want to play this game will find a way to purchase a new - newer pc to run this.
People in general that are interested in a PC game that surpasses the capabilities of their current hardware will one way or another buy a new machine. So I don’t think that it is something inherently (bad)
When a game company downgrades their game to please a larger variety of people, i don’t think it helps the gaming industry at large.
Games are here to challenge and to push boundaries so we can always go forward.
Not here to compare to the sims, but I remember when the Sims 4 launched, there was a lot of memes of people saying something about running this game on a potato. And yet it LAGGED and still does xD
Yeah well I ain’t upgrading my PC just for this one game. Maybe after GTA 6 drops but all my other games run good so why would I let this one game rush me into upgrading my PC which is just fine.

But as I said, people who REALLY want to play the game and can’t run it right now, will upgrade at some time.
I remember when GTA 5 came out on pc, I really wanted to play so I purchased a new pc months after the release.
My point was just to say that companies should not limit the scope of their game to please people.

I literally felt the same way. After waiting for so many life sims to come out and not seeing sign for awhile I was super hesitant on getting excited for this game. I am pretty impressed by what they have so far and feeling more excited to see what happens next. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Always a fun time hearing it!
