Because the directors and writers they hired just shoe horned "comics" into a movie. They have no idea what the IP is. None of them want to make a "Marvel" film. They just want to make a hollywood film and somebody hired them to make these movies.
A bit of an overreaction here. Marvel Studios has almost two decades of success. Fans panicked over a bad patch of content just only recently and the studio has addressed they know how to course correct

xmen97 does understand the characters and stories of the comics and uses it.
mcu thinks they recreating the wheel, refuses to use comics and characters as they are, and the result is this bad series and movies that their concern is to check boxes in roles on movies and series. they dont even care if writing is decent or not. its mcu and star wars state.

Yes, in addition to the great writing, they're showing the strength of animation as a medium. Beside the fact that animation lets you do some incredible action scenes without much more of a budget than having them shoot some hoops in the backyard, a lot of stuff that gets cheers out of me in 97 would end up being awkward in live action. Animation lets you emotionally get on board with things that live action would have an infinitely harder time pulling off.
Yeah well, hopefully it’s great enough you change your tune on that. Marvel is about to turn a corner and be better than ever imo. Fairly clear. After the success of harder rated property’s things will improve a lot.

is that all they learned from the show, god , they are not fans of the comics. The show writers of Xmen 97 were fans of the source material, period.
God forbid the movie studio would hire fans of the source material. That is the lesson the studio should have learned.
That's great and very positive news. But what was the ripple effect that caused years of crap to be made and blame the fans for not liking it?
Overconfidence and egotism from the success of the Infinity Saga. They felt like they could just release whatever and people would eat it up. It also seems like they either willingly gave much more leeway to or were not able to properly oversee directors/writers on their projects, resulting in the mess we are currently in.

the live action movies of the xmen trilogy was decent and good, but they went in there own direction imo, also having different writers/directors/producers really screws things up as well.
If they followed the comics like x-men '97 it would have been much better.

You may do whatever but there still have to be quality and impeccable storylines.
That is not the characterization or main characterization, though. That's more so insisting sax sells, so sell sax to say sax sells. It's like some tongue twister or poetry.
Animation transitioning into live action doesn't always translate well. With that said, if they bring any of that She-Hulk or Captain Marvel tone into the X-Men stuff, it will be dead on arrival. A lot of fans want to see the best of the comics that have never been brought to the big screen. Let's make that happen.
