Nerf Ballistic Knife

- Seiji in the comments gave me this idea. WalcomS7 also mentioned it in his Tag Back on the Switch Shot. If fires terribly so until I can design a better blade I will not be selling these.
The drill bit has arrived! I still start building fully modded k26 blasters and putting them on my Etsy Page. Hope to have that finished and posted with tomorrows episode.

Me: pulls out knife to conserve ammo
Every one else at the nerf game: O_O
Everyone else at the nerf game: oh it’s just a dude using his melee.
*WAIT WHAT THE-*
Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Game rules: melee weapons only.

“Ok I remember”
My friend and I made up a thing and i hope it becomes a thing:
"On a scale of 1 to chaylo, how prepared are you?"
By the all Gods above and below I hope that catches on! That has made my whole night! :D Thank you for that!
Captain Xavier I know this sounds crazy but use some of a hot glue stick as the core?? p.s I love eir's sister I can't spell the name but it's awesome
Captain Xavier how much would it cost for me to buy that off of you or if you were to make another
Walcom predicted it.
And Chaylo made it a reality.
*I made it a reality*
hazard Filmer No
Reality made it
Gonza Fahsure Fair enough.
Lost Cause We're you the one who recommended it?
Yes, I was
a tongue depressor could make a nice core i used one as a core for a card stock and duct tape knife.
Hey give the blade a middle ridge with the tounge depressor, that would double as stabalizing fins. Then definitely weight the tip by just butterflying it open and gluing a bb pellet there!
This is literally the reason I subscribed.
Thanks, Captain!
Ironic innit
Ok, this may sound strange, but shaped and shortened demolisher missile with a glue stick core. Like an amtgard/larp knife, should work. Also, for future tinkering, 3/4 inch couplers work amazingly with rival rounds.
Working on a method to make a magnus use a rival mag, and maybe a nightfinder rifle for them. so have been trying to think of a way to alter the breech mechanism without just using apollo guts and ran across the couplers.
When I was a kid and got the wii blaster I did this with a pen cap as the trigger
Great to see I wasn't the only one with this idea
you could put a boomco dart in the blade and since it has a soft tip yoy dont have to worry about that
ooooh, good idea!
Captain Xavier give it an attachment for some true melee purposes.

Gearz1217's comment sparked that idea for me! :)
SwiftFox he is on his etsy page but they do not have the small lever
Parker Elarton no he's not
I have been thinking about this since I originally bought the game way back when. In fact, the entire reason I found out about the nerf community is because I was trying to find someone who made a ballistic knife. Glad to see someone did, especially someone as good as you
Have you tried using a fiberglass core? It might be worth looking into. They're typically pretty strong, especially for something like this. Also, I could see the dart end getting ruined pretty quick. Can you come up with a way to make darts a little more durable? My gut is telling me about 2-3 light coats of strengthening hairspray followed by 1-2 coats of spray on adhesive and finally one fine coat of wood glue, just enough to cover any tackyness. after that, just wait for it to dry and roll it in flour or saw dust or very dry dirt so any tacky places are covered by whatever you rolled it in. I wouldn't recommend sand though.
Hasbro wish they thought of this
Gavin Anderson JustaJolt?
wrong chanel bub
Alex still applicable, look at “But can it take a K26?” and “ITS A JOLT RESKIN”, those 2 started to leak to other channels.
Alex just a jolt
You could probably get a decent foam blade with a soft core at the $.99 store. From that, you could just cut it down to the size and shape that you need.
...brilliant! (looks up nearest $1 store)
yo you should put this on your Etsy page I would totally get it
you Don't even need to sell it with the knife part just the trigger and the brass mod and I would buy it
like if you agree
@@CaptainXavier AMAZING
Try cutting down a rubber knife, we used to throw those at eachother back at Electrowerkz (Airsoft/paintball site in London that closed ages ago)
Being heavier it will fly straighter but not as far, you'd probably get the same effective range. but as it's rubber it would still be safe.
Tbh, that sounds painful.
Captain Xavier, do u have any idea now on how to make a better projectile/blade. I made a ballistic knife but I haven't modded it yet. Like urs it doesn't fly very well.
Anyone else seeing the Assassin's Creed Cosplay potential with this thing?!
No
Yeah just need to find a way to mount it on you’re wrist
Sorry you meant real assassin
Are you talking about arnos phantom blade thats attached to the hidden blade
Batman grappling hook launcher.
Hey Cap, love your channel. I've been thinking about making an effective wrist mounted blaster ever since I realized the Spider Man Homecoming blaster would be way more trouble than it's worth! Would you say this is the easiest way to achieve that for someone with no modding experience? Or would a FireStrike with the the grip and LED flashlight cut off be an easy mod? FireStrikes are way cheaper and more available than the Switch Shot here in Australia (Switch Shot at least $20AUD rare second hand vs. FireStrike $8AUD brand new in store), or would the higher cost outweigh the potential for damaging a brand new FireStrike?
I would personally 3d print a bit of a core and a diamond at the base that would thinly connect to the core and then cut out some craft foam to fit on it so it would have a little more weight to it which might help it fly, then attach it to a dart and that would be it
AHHHHH!!!!! I HAVE THAT BLASTER! Totally gonna make it a wrist mounted backup ballistic grapple hook/trident launcher! Attach some really thin twine/rope and my kid can have a Batman style blaster thingy!!! Love it!!
"Mounted backup ballistic grapple hook/trident launcher"
Try say that 5 times fast.

Hi do you have a nerf nice finder mod by chance going over ar removal the stick thingy removal(within barrel) and barrel mod? Or just a nite finder mod guide in general?
I will be making one very soon. I will be doing all the blasters that are able to take K26 in prep for putting them up for sale on Etsy.
I actually integrated one of these into the pump grip of a Rampage. I chopped off most of the grip and epoxied the Switch Shot module on what was left. It doesn't interfere with the magazine because, well, it's a Rampage. Their magazine well is on the side.
Nice! Good idea!
Maybe a rubber tip to weight it better? I would assume the flight issues are caused by the balance. Would recommend making something like a silicon mold of the top of the blade, then casting it, might be decently beneficial.
Is there any chance if an update on this?
hey, captain X, I'm a huge fan of C.o.D., and this would be great for a video that I'm going to make, so would it be possible to get one of these from you? just tell me how much and when. I also what to know if I could buy some K-26 springs off you
Bit of a long shot but i'm imagining a small minimized pistol, set on the boot that fires when your leg is fully extended. of course the trouble is finding a way to keep in safe while running, and it wont be accurate or really have a point but i think it'd be a nice mental exercise or just a fun little thing to have
hmmm...that would be interesting.
Basic ballistics, projectiles follow weight. What I do with LARP Javelins is I use 3/4" steel pipe insulation foam for the shaft, open cell foam for a head, and inside the shaft just behind the open cell foam I use the most aggressive carpet tape I can find (Gorilla Glue used to make some, but I don't think they do anymore?) and wrap two "spell packets" in it, squished to fit in the open cell foam, split it length wise, and bam. Forward-weighted foam javelins with NO solid core for safety reasons! While, Obviously, the same build doesn't apply here, maybe something along these lines could help put some weight in this thing towards the front and help it fly right? Also, a hot glue core is flexible and fairly safe, which might be another solution (I'd recommend molding the hot glue in either rolled aluminum or some fairly durable material hot glue adheres poorly to, maybe 1/4" wide?)
I found a gold panning kit's suction bottle holds a dart, and when you squeeze it it shoots up to ten feet, works pretty good for silent attack
so if i kept this to shoot a dart i could do some string fiddling and have a hidden gun?
If you put a plastic rod or something through the spine of the projectile (like how the nerf swords are), and made the tip more tapered and "sharp" and probably some better fins, it could certainly be something useable
And this is where the idea of the Mistresskey began.
Use heavier craft foam, plus maybe a wooden dowel as a core. But instead of just two edges to the projectile, make it have four. Not only will this add weight, but it should stabilize it's flight path, giving double or possibly triple the distance, and with better accuracy.
Hey Cap X I would like to know what you used to make the trigger. I have 2 of these I plan on building into a wrist mounted shield. Cheers
I piece of random metal bar
So you've made a switchshot into a ballistic knife... ITS AWESOME!!1!1
I have an idea that im actually going to try. how about putting a tee fitting on the end with the branch perpendicular to the barrel, adding a pvc pipe as an extension, and making it like Ezra’s lightsaber, the darts of course shooting out of the branch side of the tee, and the extension side of the tee could be covered in a swimming pool foam noodle.
The nerf decapitator.
You could make just a nerf "sword" dagger to shoot out to give it stability and a little more wait because a k26 is a pretty powerful spring and if it is inside that the extra wait shouldn't be a problem
CONGRATULATIONS ON 100K
This dude is a genius let’s be honest
I have 2 switch shots in need of modding. How did you make the little lever?
I started with a plunger head from something (no idea what, it was in my parts bin) and I cut off the plastic stem. I then drilled out the two unused holes in the back of the Switch Shot and filed down the stem so it would fit. I then drilled a whole through it. I took a metal rod from my parts bin (not sure what it is. It came out of a Nerf blaster so probably something line the priming bar from a Maverick or something) and bent it slightly and pushed it into the hole in the stem. Simple.
I have made the balistic knife out of my nerf switch shot and it works!! THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO
Hurray! How did you make the blade? I made a second prototype and it works a little better.
I took an normal dart and glued a mega dart on it after that i cut a point out on the mega dart. It works okay it shoots about 12 feet.
back up switch shot on an overhauled Rayven's tac rail, make it happen! you could use the stalk of an old streamline (the part inside the dart which connects to the tip) to make a semi-soft core to help the knife fly better
My tactical knife is actually a knex k force blaster core. Brassed and springed. Shoots ultra hard but the little knex priming thing kinda sucks. I actually prime it with my teeth, looks like I'm pulling the pin it a grenade when I prime it
More inspiration from old videos. Watched this, took an old Xshot micro which I broke (maybe for this project maybe not, I'll never tell!!!) and cut of the pistol grip off Voila balistic knife........we'll handleless single shooter until I make the "blade"
The great thing about the blaster is there is no hole left by the grip as it had a cavity, also the trigger mechanism essentially leaves a button so no need to rig up a trigger.
if you are still interested in a better projectile with a core, look up how to make larp style weapons, it could help with that
A possible type of ammunition could be to have a spherical shaped object at the end of a dart (that would be extended with hard foam) and use it by shooting it at a high angle and have it fall down upon your enemies
I could also just fire a Nerf rocket off it and call it a ballistic knife, but that lacks a very important aspect, my friend...style. :P But seriously I am considering using a round projectile shaped to look vaguely blade like.
Have a dart running the full length of the blade or duck tape over the foam blade to add rigidity
So, how long until we see version 2.0 with the zombie strike knife modded to fit? I mean... If your making a ballistic knife why not just go full Crocodile Dundee? >_>
Version 3.0 could fire the zombie strike wrench axe. If you can dodge a wrench-axe, you can dodge a dart!
Well this is definitely a brilliant concept! :D
While I don't have a solution to a problem, I do have an idea for an integration.
How about making it a wrist firing mechanism like the old Spiderman blaster? It would make for a perfect panic shot in a war. When an enemy is in front of you, you're out of darts and have no time at all to change mags, all it would take would be a swivel of the wrist to press the lever.
The issue becomes, how do you keep from firing it on accident? Obviously not having it primed would solve that...but then it is no longer good in an emergency. It will take tinkering...
You could integrate a toggle switch cover on top of the lever. That should provide sufficient protection.
Freaking dope sick such wow very creative
That’s not a knife... THIS IS A KNIFE
this got recommended to me again, and it just has me thinking that what if you got 10 off these and attached them together, you could make one insanely powerful shotgun
Hey, i've got an old nerf Raider here (with stock and drum) and i have no idea what to do with it, i can't buy a retaliator because they cost about $300 where i live so i wanted to make it usefull, my idea is to cut most of the barrel off and put flywheels on it, is this possible or should i just sell it? painted nerf guns can sell really expensive where i live (up to $100)
Converting a raider to flywheel would be a hell of a trick... You can always increase the spring, and remove the air restrictor. That will give it some better performance. Alternatively, yeah, giving it a nice paint job and selling it seems like a good option. Where do you live that Nerf is such a commodity?
In Brazil, they were illegal here for some time and most of the nerf guns made betwen 2013/2015 are extremelly rare since they are almost illegal to import, just the new ones are coming to the market, like the new clip fed bow that i can't remember the name
I had to pay 50 dollars for a hammershot, a longshot costs about $500
Is that before or after the exchange rate?
it was before
I knew somebody would make this
seeing as how you can build basically anything when it comes to nerf, do you think you could make the centurion a usable primary
Andrew Hibbets See WalcomS7 Gunlance Mod
I have no idea. Never even touched one. I imagine one could replace all the internals with a better blaster. But is it really a Centurion anymore at that point?
Captain Xavier+ just remove the slits in the plunger tube
Ok here's a question will a stampede take a k26 if you put in metal gears and heavily mod it?
Maybe? I would guess you would also have to replace the motor at that point. But with enough alteration I am sure it could...that would be amazing!
I'm getting an Assassins Creed Hidden Gun inspiration here...
I made my own balistic knife just today and then saw this video
OMG I NEED THAT!! it's so cool!
Your the best!
Now throw a rail adapter on it, and you could have a Nerf ballistic bayonet.
Doubles a Melee, and a Gun!
So a simple mod to start with
Why not just have this basic design as a base
But instead just have a gun knife
Put on a longer barrel
Cover it up in foam with a hole at the tip and then call it a day
You can just ramrod it to load or maybe have a breach somehow built in where if you move the foam part of the stabby end it also opens up the breach
I give up. Why not?
This would be a really cool bayonet for the Ire, if the ire didn't have an awesome front gun, don't get me wrong, it's awesome. But it's a bayonet for up close, but if it's a zombie and or don't want to risk smacking someone in the face with a giant hunk of plastic, "pooft" they might get shot and tagged.
StoneAxe23 Gaming couldn't you just make those blades compatable with EIR?
LittleBiglsteele ...you mad genius!
StoneAxe23 Gaming ;)
Ha, I suggested it to him already.
Seiji yet again suggests awesome things
Put a small fishing weight in it. Maybe it will work?
+Captain Xavier How much would this cost from you
I am still working on perfecting the blade. It currently flies very poorly.
what is better k26 or tech6 spring and could u maybe do a comparison video
Look in to making it styled after a boffer but use Eva foam and carbon fiber rods
You could attach the blade of the stonewall "shortsword" that came with the shield, I throw it all the time
Longer barrel and make the projectile slide over the top like an old school arrow.
Spark foam is better to use because its more stronger to use
You need to make something like that into a arm mounted blaster. Fireing that knife a dart or even something arrowhead shaped. Look up Kamen rider assault wolf for an idea of how it might look.
if I send one of my Nerf guns that I want to modify can you modify and paint it for me black and blue
For a fee yes, but not until next year.
Honestly, the range is about accurate to the real deal. But, maybe if you make the blade a little thinner, it will fly better? (granted it doesn't look as cool)
You could make it so that the blade is finned like a Titan rocket just for stability in the air!!
"Now add a sniper scope"
Aside from jokes I'd add string to the end of the blade and attach to the inside so you dont have to go searching for it
Ah, A Gamer Leader
That performance is pretty similar to actual ballistic knives
So you took a switch shot ,shoved a k26 in it ,made a trigger and made a ballistic knife certainly mor easy than the one drac showed
Make the core of the blad with some plastic in the cre and then surround that plastic in foam
Where should I get the lever? Do you know what type of lever it is?
I used a piece of plastic from a revolver mechanism and a metal rod from some blaster (no idea which one) and made it myself.
Put fishing line around it and then you've just made scorpions rope dart
For my blade I just took the tube of a pen and glued some darts over it
Why are brass barrels better
Does it lose less velocity if it bounces around
Better air seal so less energy is lost.
@@CaptainXavier thank you
Make it wrist mounted on your other hand or have it on top of the wrist raider
u should make a three bladed knife and curl the ends of the blades like fins
I put a lego into the trigger mech and put tape over it and made a makeshift trigger. Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.
Nice!
that switchshot can be a stealh weapon
extend the brass breach and make a dart shaped like a three sided blade.
Any more development on this?
Yo the knife needs fins for me stability like 8 fins per blade should be good
Well, the raider has a side magazine, possible exception.
It's very, very cool, but the sudo-knife blade is impractical
+NINTENDOPES ! ...what part of anything I do on this channel is "practical"?
Can you make a blaster what is bigger than you nd has rival rounds
this is amazing. I'll be doing this with mine
What would you suggest that I get if I want to start modding?
Depends on your current skill set. If you have none...start with something really simple. A single shot pistol. Open it up, tinker, figure out how it works. If you have skills that watch some videos and get an idea of what you want. Flywheels are tough because the mods require things like soldering and a basic understanding of electrical engineering. But there are 12 year olds who have mastered it so it is all possible.
Captain Xavier thank you for the advice. I have opened up my night finder but sadly I am the 13 year old and I have no experience outside of shop class.
That is a perfectly good place to start. I will be posting a mod guide on the Nite Finder probably tomorrow. You can probably find a heavier spring in your local hardware store to beef it up. Some hardware stores also carry the 17/32 in brass you need to improve the barrel
Epic music as always 😂
Dont make him angry.
I thought it was a real knife at first glance
for a blade get a foam knife and cut it down to fit your needs
trim down a popsicle stick and maybe keep it in foam with a glue coating
