I remember seeing this on TOTP, went out the next day and got the single, also included Rabbit in your headlights with the video...awesome. Had never heard of UNKLE until this came on TOTP, love them now!
Lavelle and Shadow made this song and it's got loads of hip-hop elements to it. In fact it would be hard to categorize it in any other way. I say if Shadow wants to scratch, let him scratch.
I agree, Its a GREAT SONG; i dont wanna lame them but the drum loop needs something; They would bring a real drummer to play it, i think it could be interesting.
In this show, at least the DJ (J.Lavelle? or DJ Shadow?) is playing it live, but I'm not sure about Mr Brown. I love this song and those 3 artists though.
@@chloeharris what are you talking about this is Unkle -DJ Shadow and James Lavelle in 1999 with Ian Brown just after he was released from prison. The instrumental to this is on the Unkle Science Fiction album!
@@JimmyChangE16 I know all that. Shadow wrote the tunes. Brown sings. Lavelle designs the T-shirts. I just thought they used the Scratch Perverts for live DJing. Could be wrong though!
Hahahahaha spot on i am pretty king supreme when it comes to music. I dont like the fact that artist can get big and be able to release shit tracks and people will like it anyway just because its there faverate artist.
But my coment was not about be there it is a great track but the guy said reign was unkle seccond best track and although i do like the song it is not anything great i dont think ian could be bothered with the lyrics and its quite one dimentional with the production of the samples and i thought for someone to say that it was unkle seccond best song i felt that the reasoning for this was because it features ian brown when it is very clearley no where near the seccond best song by unkle.
This song no need for sretches damn that..... its not hip hop or smth sorry if it touched somebody... but this song is isn't requied remix. so dj shadow screwed this absolutley lovley and intellegent song with this hip hop (pop-pop) sretches.
DJ Shadow, Ian Brown, James lavelle- what an outstanding assortment of class!
Back when electronic music & DJ’ing was so damn good. Real vinyl w the master DJ Shadow

Wow. I remember watching this way, way back in the day. I was 13 and I had no idea who Ian Brown was. Now I know he’s a god.

Yes. Yes it is.

I agree iv been saying this for ages
immense

UNKLE + DJ shadow is best.
Best Unkle song. Second best Unkle song?... Reign. I guess Ian Brown should be asked to do all the vocals from now on.

Nice vid
i had no idea this was on top of the pops!
i wish someone would upload the original video of this song.
its uncle, but dj shadow surely likes triphop too ;)
cool
@69crafty Yes, it is.
i think the drum loop in this sounds quite a lot like clubbed to death by rob d (from the matrix)
choooone
I agree, Its a GREAT SONG; i dont wanna lame them but the drum loop needs something; They would bring a real drummer to play it, i think it could be interesting.

It's definitely Lavelle
Massive Attack.
In this show, at least the DJ (J.Lavelle? or DJ Shadow?) is playing it live, but I'm not sure about Mr Brown.
I love this song and those 3 artists though.
Unkle should do some stuff live with ian so he doesnt have to do stone roses stuff anymore
what year was this??????
late '98 or early '99.
i think it's lavelle, since believe it or not he's a trained pianist and violinist :S
I guess I should have read what you wrote first. My bad mate.
@op2910 it sound`s nothing like it!
why would he not want to do sr stuff
321 lets cut our hair like idiots hehe
Is the DJ not one of the Scratch Perverts??? I didn't think at the time it was Shadow. Defo James Lavelle!! RIP TOTP
John King its DJ Shadow mate deffo
@@JimmyChangE16 Shadow can't scratch so it's almost certainly not.

i'd say it was passable as an argument.

When Ian just come out of prison
1:41 here take the crap record. im sick n tired of playing over n over
No mate...I think it's more similar to the "unfinhised sympathy" drum beat....
Gareth Bale sings?
He looks stoned as fuck
You dont know much about music do you?
Ian Brown sings live, the CD version is proper. His voice, here, is not on top...

I hope in the 11 years since you wrote this absolute guff that you've have time to reflect and realise what a buffoon you were in 2009.
DJ Shadow literally composed this whole song and it is absolutely a hip hop instrumental
why would he not want to do sr stuff
