I admire not only your skill as a mechanic, but your patience and determination. No other channel really compares to yours in that regard. You sir are number one. Seriously.
I recently went thru neck surgery and while at home healing I found your channel. Its like hanging out with an old friend, working on cars, talking shop. I grew up in a Michigan drag racing family and have been in the garage helping my dad since I can remember. Your work reminds me so much of our own approach to fixing things... careful diagnostic and planning to avoid unnecessary work and expense. I continue to do my own work on cars, motorcycles, campers... you name it. And I especially appreciate your light heart and no swearing. God bless you and keep it coming, Derek! If you're ever in Vermont/New Hampshire (I have moved a lot) and need help, I got tools and a pickup truck. Be safe out there.
I figured out why VGG is so watchable! VGG is the fantasy land we all want to live in. Derek never gets mad, never rips the skin off his knuckles, has the tools he needs and things work when he's done. Also, he's always actually working instead of just sitting around watching RUclips.
That is a fantasy. There's not a mechanic alive that doesn't rip the skin off there knuckles and get mad once in a while especially when things don't work out and you have to tear it apart again.
I had to tell you thank you for this video, my husband is injured right now, and unable to celebrate veterans Day, so watching him, watch you, I just wanted you to know you did put a smile on this vets face. He loves watching you, because he dreams on restoring a car some day. Thanks again.
Derek and Dulcich are, by FAR my two favorite hosts! The episode of Roadworthy Rescue with the two of them was GREAT! If I drank, I'd love to knock back a couple beers with them!
The Independence is how I found VGG. Was scrolling through RUclips for something to watch and I saw the thumbnail with Derek and Independence and immediately I clicked on and been watching since. I began watching from 1st ever VGG to catch up and been watching since. I really miss seeing her on the channel. Like today even seeing a small piece of her made me happy. Can't wait until she comes back. Love that car. She means a lot to me.
Thank you for providing countless hours of entertainment. After a long week of work, its so nice to sit back on Friday evenings to relax and watch your fun videos. Keep up the awesome work and warmest regards from Melbourne, Australia.

I put a pair of the Magnaflows on my 64 chevy 2 pro street, they sounded awesome as heck at idle, really a deep nice tone, then at speed they were way more quiet than I prefer. . So I took them off and put my 2 chamber flowmasters (Flowmaster 40's) back on awesome those were.....on my pro street anyway.
I put a stock 360 out of a Plymouth wagon, in a 1974 Plymouth Duster back in 1987 ,and it kick butt back when you was a young man in school. Later we put a 440 in one had to use fender Well headers, Wish I could help on this build. Check on those ball joints and bushings. they wear out and you will be all over the road,
Nice to see a working space with bearings, some kind of throttle for a moped?, brake cleaner, a claw hammer, test leads and odd things laying around. Looks like home!
Always been a fan of Magnaflow. It’s controlled and throaty without being raspy. Deep as you said. They just sound tough and mature. They’re the Chad of V8 mufflers.
Xlerator was also nice in a 4 cyl 2.3 turbo engine 3" dp and 2.5" Flowmaster cat (200cell) and end muffler is 2.5" with xlerator. Nice exhaust note i must say. That magnaflow would sound nice also i bet.
I have Magnaflow on my Grand Cherokee with the 5.7. It is just like you said, tough and mature, not obnoxious or annoying on a long highway ride. It also gives a good bark when you jump on it.
I might be a little partial because they are made in my back door I'm not far way from their plant plus I love the sound. I had a set on my older Duramax and they sounded good even though it wasn't made for a diesel. They sounded awesome on it. I was also a big Flowmaster fan as well.
Your channel has always been great but it’s better than ever now as you add more cars and trucks, more builds, exhaust tests and Motorsport content. I am always amazed how much this man knows about cars, engines, the undercarriage, every piece of every vehicle. The history behind everything and can explain every issue and every fix that’s possible for every problem in detail. When your done watching you feel like you just learned something instead of just watching someone fix something. I’ve watched every episode multiple times. I have magnaflow on my 3.6 Malibu sounds amazing and they are 12 years old. Also had them on my 06 charger. I absolutely love the low tones they produce. I don't like a obnoxious tones... Always be my favorite and they are known to add hp over others. They flow very nice.
Good choice on the mufflers. Really digging this build. The black steel wheels and raised white letter tires, that, to me, is the correct look for that car.
I can tell you “love” MOPARs. My dad , a lifelong Ford guy, used to call Dusters “Dust bins” which in case you don’t know is an English term for a trash can. P.S. I agree on your muffler choice.
Derek, that Duster sounds awesome. A guy is doing a great job putting this thing together and I'm looking forward to seeing this car finished. If I won it I wouldn't do a thing to it.
Always a good time to sit down and watch the VGG channel. Great work Derek and Volunteer muffler. I also noticed a beautiful two-wheeled scooter under your shop shirt! Big fan of the Indian Chieftain!
Just saw you met up with fabrats and merlin. So cool. Those guys are from my neck of the woods. Paul lives 20 minutes from me. Made me smile ear to ear
Magnaflow one of the better brands in terms of quality- excellent welds, a lot of pride in their internal baffling/packing etc. as a wholesaler usually the only time we saw returns on then was if it had a dent in transport! stainless is also so important when you consider the issues of condensation/heat/rust- a big cause of blowouts in mild steel mufflers!
I have a magnaflow catback exhaust that was installed on my 2003 vehicle in 2007 and it has seen at least 10 salt belt winters, still looks/sounds fantastic.
Love the build and thanks for doing this giveaway. Since your giving this away, you might want to have an option to extend the exhaust out of the body because in some states like Pennsylvania it has to exit the body even a truck bed to be legal. Yes, PA sucks the fun even out of exhausts…
Derek--I send a package arriving tomorrow addressed to Jessica--you always comment you should be dipped--I think Jessica is the best for that job!! Enjoy!
Yes you choose the right mufflers. Magma flow is always the right choice. They sound awesome let the engine breath while adding a nice deep note. The last forever.

This was an epic episode, really love all the in depth of the knick knacks. You always see bolting the engine in, and next thing you know its running. The power steering just magically happens. That said, those lines are bastids... even the correct line for the exact application often fights ya 😅
Like a brand new line from O'Reilly with the wrong thread pitch I tried to put on.....dang metric crap looking similar and whatnot. After trying to thread it into a pump for 30 minutes I finally held it next to the other one and had a little breakdown, and then got a ride to get the correct hose.....
When you finally decided on the muffler and those turn downs were on, you should have seen the smile on my face when you fired it up and it went to idle. No matter what brand of auto you may prefer, when something is just cammed out the a$$, it is magical.
I like the MagnaFlow the best. It's what I'm running on my 69 Camaro SS396. They're not too loud, not too quiet, they're just right. I guess that's the Goldilocks of mufflers.
I feel like even if the cameras weren't rolling, Derek would still be having the same conversations with himself underneath the hood... fussing, griping, figuring, making song, etc... 🤣
I do that on all my projects. Usually not out loud but talk it out in my head till I come up with the answer I'm looking for. Sometimes it's even right.
I have 8 projects vehicles in my yard because of watching Derek and I’m not mad about it, I got to catch myself sometimes I start sounding like him working on them lol
Derek, i just took my wife to a shania twain concert and it was phenomenal. She is 58, but doesnt look or sound 58. The 90s baby in me came out and i loved it. So definitely go to a 90s country concert if you can!
Had a Magnaflow in my Trailblazer SS LS2. The engine and the rest of the exhaust was stock, OE short short headers, 2-into-1, 3” all the way back. Super smooth deep mild mannered rumble, but she’d wake up the neighbors in the morning if I romped on it. Sounded so good, I’d smile every morning when I cranked her up.
I had the super 10s on my 318 van, and they were awesome. Really loud, but awesome. Someone stole one of them thinking it was a cat..... I have since changed to the Cherry Bomb Vortex mufflers snd absolutely love them. They are quiet enough to sneak around the old folks home, but get nasty when you push on the go pedal.
I was taking a look at your intro again, and I have to say I never told you how I like the new modern way that you found to plow fields! You kill to birds with one stone! You even replace the snow plow!
Much respect from a 1962 moldle my dad and uncle built care, airplanes and any thing that was a dinosaur in it .the way you and yours embrace the gear head world
Y'know I was gonna put a borla on my truck, as I have done to every car I own....but they were out of stock, so I decided to give magnaflow a chance. I was impressed, and can say that after 5 years of faithful service....and burning out the packing...I'm glad the borlas were out of stock :)
We've got true dual super 10s on our ram truck, and it sounds so good. I agree, Magnaflow didn't sound bad either. Having an old muscle car like this will definitely make someone very happy. Great job, Derek! 👍
I got a couple entries for the give away 😊😊 And currently have a customers 1973 duster at work that is a 440 swapped with a 4 speed swapped car was a slant six car originally and had to do some fine tuning on the carb and make the headers fit since they were in to the steering and would lock the front wheels from turning. Maybe the 73 duster at work is my sign I could possibly be winning the VGG give away 73 duster lol. No no my luck is terrible lol. 😅😂
Ed here. When I was a young feller. My old friend Roger had a gold Duster. It looked identical to this one. We had lots of fun traveling around Maine and New Hampshire in it.
Takes me back to the winter of '73. I was in the USAF stationed at Takhli RTAFB, Thailand. The BX had a car concession that sold Chrystler, Ford, and AMC. I drooled over the literature for the Gold Duster, Mustang, and AMC Hornet, as no cars were on hand and we couldn't drive private vehicles there anyway. I was told the Duster couldn't be had with a 4 speed and bucket seats. I chose the AMC Hornet and took delivery upon return to the States. Love your video presentations, your knowledge, and your sence of humor. Keep 'em coming.
I know little to nothing about cars. You make me wish I hadn't wasted my youth. You inspire me to work on my 64 c10. I wish you could see it. My grandfather's originally, I now am 60 yrs old.
Should I do a video just on mufflers? We could get a dozen more brands?
Mozzle
Well if a guy dropped his lapel mic behind the car I’d have a better guess but all I can hear is tick tick tick(my vote is yes)😂

Do they still sell the old school Cherry Bomb brand?
Well I reckon so

Derek, i just took my wife to a shania twain concert and it was phenomenal. She is 58, but doesnt look or sound 58. The 90s baby in me came out and i loved it. So definitely go to a 90s country concert if you can!
Borla is my favorite!
Man the commentary on the ps line was spot on
Had a Magnaflow in my Trailblazer SS LS2.
I really like fun loving attitude and your sense of humor, we enjoy the content with out foul language and temper tantrums. Your a great roll model!
I was taking a look at your intro again, and I have to say I never told you how I like the new modern way that you found to plow fields! You kill to birds with one stone! You even replace the snow plow!
Voted magnaflow before I saw your results. Sweet!
Wow..this build reminds me of me being a teenager back in the early 80s...wish I had my old Dart Sport back!
X files one of my favorite things to watch 😊
The Duster sounds great!
I know little to nothing about cars. You make me wish I hadn't wasted my youth. You inspire me to work on my 64 c10. I wish you could see it. My grandfather's originally, I now am 60 yrs old.
Uncle Tony's Garage is in the Nashville area too. He's a Mopar guy. He might have been good to consult with on this one.
I like the sound of the intro to the show when you hear the guitar riff then the rev up of the engine, thats what I like.
Good choice in mufflers!👍
I've been watching everything on TV for awhile first time I saw your show on my phone
Good choice!!! I was Magna Flow all the way and I am 71. I like that deep muscular sound.
