    ABOUT IRON MAIDEN:
Iron Maiden are an institution. Over the course of six decades they have come to embody a spirit of fearless creative independence, ferocious dedication to their fans, and a cheerful indifference to their critics that’s won them a following that spans every culture, generation, and time-zone. A story of gritty determination and courageous defiance of the naysayers, theirs has been an adventure like no other.
The band’s immense discography includes the studio albums ‘The Number Of The Beast’, ‘Piece Of Mind’, ‘Powerslave, ‘Somewhere In Time’, ‘Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son’, ‘Fear Of The Dark’, ‘The Final Frontier’ and ‘The Book Of Souls’ which have spawned many classic hits as ‘The Trooper’, ‘Wasted Years’, ‘Hallowed Be Thy Name’, ‘Wasting Love’, ‘Run To The Hills’, ‘Aces High’, ‘Rime Of The Ancient Mariner’ and ‘2 Minutes to Midnight’.

Steve Harris is a bass god. The perfect timing and driving just keeps that engine running. What a band and what a song. Steve was the reason i picked up a bass and adopted his style, 29 years later and he signed my bass on the Book of Souls tour Sout Africa. Maiden for life.

I love this album! The thing about this album I think that doesnt rank as high as TNOTB, Powerslave, SSOASS is that just like Piece of mind (that is also one of my favroites) is that overal doesnt flow as good as the other ones as an album, not that is bad, is just that the others, in particular SSOASS flows perfectly as an album.
The 2nd thing, and thats also in the context it came out, the tone is not as raw as the other albums. the more synth guitar tone makes this one a bit less heavy metal.
But if you ask me I love this album, and I love each album as their own thing.

Was many years ago that I left home and came this way
I was a young man, full of hope and dreams
But now it seems to me that all is lost and
    nothing gained
Sometimes things ain't what they seem
No brave new world, no brave new world
No brave new world, no brave new world
Night and day I scan horizon, sea and sky
    My spirit wanders endlessly
Until the day will dawn and friends from home
    discover why
    Hear me calling, rescue me
Set me free, set me free
Lost in this place, and leave no trace
    [Chorus:]
    Stranger in a strange land
    Land of ice and snow
    Trapped inside this prison
    Lost and far from home
One hundred years have gone and men again
    they came that way
To find the answer to the mystery
They found his body lying where it fell all that day
Preserved in time for all to see
No brave new world, no brave new world
Lost in this place, and leave no trace
What became of the man that started
All are gone and their souls departed
Left me here in this place
    So all alone

Describing Iron Maiden is like trying to describe the band RUSH. They are the best at what they do and they have raised the bar so high that most aspiring musicians will forever be reaching for that bar. People call RUSH progressive rock or whatever but its not. RUSH is just RUSH and no one else even comes close. Same with Maiden. They are master storytellers that just happen to be proficient as hell on whatever instrument it is they play and they have created a style all their own. Three badass guitar players that vary in style. A bass player like Geddy Lee in that he writes and plays the bass in his very own style. And as for Nicko Mcbrain? A drummer that you can pick out in the first couple notes of a song. I've seen Iron Maiden 8 times and I can't wait for the 9th.

    • @Pensfan5919

Rush were progressive but evolved beyond that on their musical journey.
Very Happy memories of meeting Rush on the signals and R30 tours and fortunate enough to also meet Maiden at the now defunct Mayfair ballrooms in Newcastle upon Tyne after seeing their somewhere in time tour at the city hall. Absolute gentlemen and Steve Harrris got the beers in. Absolute legend.
So a big smile on my face everytime I hear songs off this album.

Was many years ago that I left home and came this way
I was a young man, full of hopes and dreams
But now it seems to me that all is lost and nothing gained
Sometimes things ain't what they seem
No brave new world, no brave new world
No brave new world, no brave new world
Night and day I scan the horizon, sea and sky
    My spirit wanders endlessly
Until the day will dawn and friends from home discover why
    Here me calling, rescue me
Set me free, set me free
Lost in this place, and leave no trace
    Stranger in a strange land
    Land of ice and snow
    Trapped inside this prison
    Lost and far from home
One hundred years have gone and men again they came that way
To find the answer to the mystery
They found his body lying where it fell on that day
Preserved in time for all to see
No brave new world, no brave new world
Lost in this place, to leave no trace
What became of the men that started
All are gone and their souls departed
Left me here in this place
    So all alone
Stranger in a stranger in a strange land
    Land of ice and snow
    Trapped inside this prison
Lost and far from home! ..... "

In "Stranger in a Strange Land" it's sung in hope for a brave and better world while in "Brave New World" it's used as irony since this "a brave new world" is not brave and for sure it is nothing new. Song is about book with the same tittle and it's about dystopian future.

One of, if not the tastiest guitar solos I've heard. I'm 55, been alot of places, seen alot of things, and heard much. And to everyone, I say, this is one of, if not the tastiest guitar solo ever. Not to mention the unmatched talent of the gentlemen we all know as IRON MAIDEN. Y'all fuckin ROCK.
