- The bump on her cheek, which Genki cured with antibiotics some time ago, is swelling up again. It has not yet become infected, but I wonder if it is also affected by a cavity?
The zookeepers are surely aware of this and will have prescribed medication for Genki.
Since the cause is probably tooth decay, this symptom will keep recurring unless the tooth decay is treated again. I am worried.

MOMOTARO & GENKI Family
Father MOMOTARO ♂(2000/7/3)
He is hesitant in new situations and is a loner.
His father died before he was born, and he had never spent time with a silverback.
He had already turned into a silverback by the time he was 10 years old.
He is struggling with unfamiliar child-rearing.
MOMOTARO's father is BIJU.
MOMOTARO's mother is MOMOKO.
Mother GENKI ♀ (1986/6/24)
She is 14 years older than Momotaro and has a role to support the whole family mentally.
She has had a tumultuous and eventful life.
She has returned to her birthplace, Kyoto City Zoo.
She had never been blessed with a baby but after meeting Momotaro,
she had two sons.
She is a very maternal female gorilla.
GENKI's father is MAC.
GENKI's mother is HIROMI.
First son GENTARO, male (2011/12/21)
He was separated from his mother Genki soon after he was born.
Genki's milk production was not very good.
He was raised by his keeper for his first10 months.
Because of this, he is very fond of humans.
His face is so expressive, and everyone enjoys watching him.
Second son KINTARO ♂ (2018/12/19)
He is just very strong-willed and independent.
He has big eyes and long eyebrows.
The way he plays a lot with his brother Gentaro makes everyone smile.
We can't wait to see what kind of gorilla he'll become!

The Vet needs to take Genki and do a thorough exam this has been ongoing all summer!!!!

I think Genki must have pain because of the swelling. I believe last time Gorilla Life informed us that it was an abscess. You know a toothache is one of the worst pains to have. Poor Genki. Hope she gets antibiotics soon. 😢

Poor Genki. It's another bad abcess due to lack of care with her teeth. They are in such horrible shape. A previous abcess, not long ago in the same area, just cleared up. I'm terribly worried about her. She is so stressed with the boys' current behavior towards her. We just see short videos of their daily lives. I wish this family had the same beautiful habitat as the DeJeeco family in Taipei, Taiwan. The difference is huge. 😢

You are right the DeJeeco family has a beautiful habitat and seems to have a much more peaceful life because of it. But they are not in Japan. They are in Taipei Taiwan. If only all captive gorillas could have such a nice place to live.
the climbing structure is very important enrichment to the gorillas. Yes DJeeco habitat is nice.

In Ueno Zoo they take good care of the gorillas.They just took out a tumor from Momokas chest.
This looks very serious😢 Infection can kill you if it gets in your blood stream. It can also go to your brain and kill you if left untreated. She needs treatment and fast!

Don’t they have vets that come in to check them? I know this is another country but in the USA I have seen them do root canals on gorillas. An infection can get into the blood stream. It should not be taken lightly.

Poor Genki😢 I hope the vets and zookeepers are treating this seriously! I have grown to really love this troop and i would be devastated if something happened to Genki❤🦍 wishing her a much needed speedy recovery. Much love from NYC

Make phone calls donate some money the only thing I will not do is start a fund raiser to many got hacked on RUclips and Facebook,,, the money is for Genki not them thieves and that’s all they do in life… please let me know what I can do I love Genki I don’t want anything to happen to her…

Os cientistas podem dar um apoio para o zoo tratar de Genki. Acho também que que o zoo não é louco de fazer mal a Genki. Ela precisa de muito carinho e tratamento dentário. E não retirar os dentes qie lhe restam. Todo amor para Genki que ainda é bem nova. E dois filhos esta de bom tamanho para a nossa heroína.😘😍😗😗😗
They should contact the teaching university for dental and see if a team of a professor and students would like to help! It would be an incredible experience for the students and cut the costs dramatically. It isn't just going to go away. They must pull, and/or fill the offending teeth!

Dear charlotte. ☺That's right, people who only watch RUclips are definitely lacking information. Especially on RUclips, it is edited and only the impressive parts are released. I'm not saying it's bad. However, those who only watch RUclips will only see Genki's swollen face and Genki being slapped by Kintaro and Gentaro. 10 minute edited video. There are 24 hours in a day. We can only watch the Momotaro family on RUclips for only 10 minutes out of 24 hours. Why do they think "I know everything about the Momotaro family" after watching only 10 minutes?
On RUclips, we can't see Genki being examined by a veterinarian or what kind of care she receives from keepers. People judge that what they don't see doesn't exist. So they yell, "Genki hasn't been seen by a veterinarian! she hasn't been cared for!" They just didn't see the scene. In reality, Genki is being examined by a veterinarian. Not only Mr. Nagao and Ms Yasui, but also the director of Kyoto City Zoo loves gorillas.

My eye has never been swollen cause of a toothache, I hope genki isn't getting beat up by kintaro acting like gentaro!! And genki seems to flinch when kintaro gets near.
Several times, she had the same symptoms due to a cavity.

Não é porque o dente é antigo, Genki passou por um Zoo que dava muitas frutas doces, alimentação errada, e isso danificou os dentes, ela emagreceu bastante, culpa dos humanos, como sempre

Meus dois amores Kintaro e Genki, o problema dos dentes da Genki é antigo, sempre tem uma desculpa para não ser resolvido, se não tem uma equipe caz de ajudar a Genki, chama uma equipe de outro País, mas tem que gastar dinheiro, né? Esse é o motivo, e vai receber de volta como? Não existe preocupação, humanidade, empatia pela Genki por parte dos administradores, porque pegou uma família se não estão dispostos a cuidar da forma certa, suprir suas necessidades, eles são muito parecidos com os humanos, precisam de espaço, de ajuda médica veterinária, alimentos de acordo com suas necessidades nutricionais, o que não pode mais acontecer é a Genki ficar com dor o tempo todo, ela come porque se não comer morre, eu quase tive uma parada cardíaca por causa de dente, a dor é uma das piores, mas eles sabem disso, são criaturas cruéis, que tratam a família com descaso, é muito revoltante, estou torcendo para esse Zoo ser denunciado para alguma Organização mundial de defesa dos animais, esse Zoo é um dos piores que eu já vi, é uma vergonha, colocam a culpa no Kintaro para não falar da necessidade de uma equipe para tratar Genki, a impressão que dá é que estão deixando a Genki sofrer até morrer, menos um

They can but it is high risk to pull out each tooth. It is necessary to use anethesia. She have many cabities. It is based on her diet in her youth.
