The humidity is getting lower and the days are more comfortable. The gorillas are spending a lot of time outdoors. Kintaro was playing by himself with a red ball. Mother Genki's motherly nature is amazing. She is still worried about Kintaro, who will soon be 6 years old. She was taking very good care of him.

Father MOMOTARO ♂(2000/7/3)
He is hesitant in new situations and is a loner.
His father died before he was born, and he had never spent time with a silverback.
He had already turned into a silverback by the time he was 10 years old.
He is struggling with unfamiliar child-rearing.
MOMOTARO's father is BIJU.
MOMOTARO's mother is MOMOKO
Mother GENKI ♀ (1986/6/24)
She is 14 years older than Momotaro and has a role to support the whole family mentally.
She has had a tumultuous and eventful life.
She has returned to her birthplace, Kyoto City Zoo.
She had never been blessed with a baby but after meeting Momotaro,
she had two sons.
She is a very maternal female gorilla.
GENKI's father is MAKK.
GENKI's mother is HIROMI.
First son GENTARO, male (2011/12/21)
He was separated from his mother Genki soon after he was born.
Genki's milk production was not very good.
He was raised by his keeper for his first10 months.
Because of this, he is very fond of humans.
His face is so expressive, and everyone enjoys watching him.
Second son KINTARO ♂ (2018/12/19)
He is just very strong-willed and independent.
He has big eyes and long eyebrows.
The way he plays a lot with his brother Gentaro makes everyone smile.
We can't wait to see what kind of gorilla he'll become!

Remember he slept by her side the night before Kintaro was born. Gentaro was her first love - and I like to think that just maybe she remembers him from those days. I have no clue if that is possible for a gorilla, or it is just me being such a human 😉🤔
@@Charlotte-r Yes, Genki is a wonderful gorilla mom. And, you ask a good question. We know there's some level of emotion and attachment. But, do they remember their babies like human mothers? 🤔

Genki is quite amazing how she can still climb up in the ceiling to forage for food. She seems in good health.
Yes, that’s so true. I was surprised when I first saw her do that because she’s got some age on her.
I just wish there were other gorillas and toddlers as his playmates that way he is distracted from pestering Genki.

From your last video talking about the food they get..I've noticed that the moto family eat more greens leafs🍃 🍃🍃 🍃 their coats look healthy and shiny...and they look healthy.
Compare them to Nene's family gets more veggies than green leafs...their coats don't look healthy..they seem thinner to me.
Is it possible that right now since the Shabani troop is having difficulties and a member of their troop is separated from them, they may not be eating well, and they feel the stress and agitation due to the situation? But I agree with you that Momotaro & family look great!

GL, you are correct, Kintaro on the tire was Adorable! He looked tiny! And Genki loves Kintaro very much. She loves Gentaro too but he is too big now. His cone is starting to develop/show.

Мне кажется, что Момотаро совсем не старается, чтоб Генки стала матерью, может быть, девочки.? Не очень то он проявляет к ней интерес. Он, конечно, холеный самец, но от него веет холодком. Кинтаро замечательный, а Генка вечная мать.

I wonder how the Momotaro family would react if Genki would be able to foster a newborn gorilla that was abandoned by its mom. There are several situations in the US where that has happened.

It is funny watching Genki grooming Kintaro and I’m sure it calms him. But I wonder if it doesn’t help her also, just doing the act of grooming. When my daughter had her 1st child, MY 1st grandchild, I was very excited and nervous. I got her hairbrush out and kept brushing her hair. She had the thickest, most beautiful hair! It didn’t NEED brushing. It just was nice brushing it because it was so beautiful and it felt nice. In the years after she would tell people about me brushing her hair and how it irritated her, made her nervous. But it sure calmed me down. If I’d k own it bothered her I would have quit but she hadn’t said anything til later.

Since Gentaro belongs to Chiba Zoo, I'm sure they will have the final say about Gentaro's movements. However, he was spent his life at Kyoto, so I am hopeful the zoos will work together to achieve a positive outcome for him. 🦍🦍
@@Charlotte-r Thank you, Charlotte. It’s great that Gentaro has people who are responsible for his life and future. I’m just trying to understand why that hasn’t happened already. Gentaro will be 13 in a few months and he is getting close in size to his father. It would be great if this decision can be made soon before a potential accident happens. For now, Gentaro will be with his family for a while. It depends on his relationship with Momotaro. If there is a conflict between silverbacks, Gentaro will have to leave his parents. Where he will move to is still undecided. No definite partner has been decided on for his future partner.

You can watch earlier videos with Genki's story - she had no children with different partners except Momotaro, and she loved his father, Biju, but, unfortunately, there were no children with him either, so Momotaro turned out to be a suitable partner for Genki

Is this the only free space they have? Because I see that other gorillas have large gardens, and momotaro's is not very spacious, or at least that's how I notice it. 😕
👍🏽 Yes, it’s quite Noticeable they’re PACKED in like Sardines in their tiny enclosure. It gets me frustrated 😢 because I can just imagine the Gorgeous GENTARO 🥰 and KINTARO (aka Kinny the Karrot King 🥕) running and pLaying in an outside space similar to what the D’JEECO family has. They’re very fortunate.
There are three rooms indoors.
Additionally the second ground . We can't see the space inside, though.
