A mind blowing performance, as already mentioned the Baroque Trumpet brilliantly played. The Baroque Trumpet is a difficult instrument to control but in dedicated hands it is a blessing to Bach's inspired music. Brandenburg #2 is truly one of the most beautiful musical-flowers in the garden of creation.
This group flat out kicks BOOTY! One of the best interpretations of this piece out there. They were historically on point! True to the Baroque style with period instrumentation, terraced dynamics, etc etc. And whoever mentioned that the trumpet player had that look of "oh just another day at the office" was spot on. I'm not a trumpet player but every trumpet player I know HATES Brandenburg #2 because of the difficulty factor. Just from listening, I'd say breathing, where/when to breathe is crucial. There's little to no room for error. Add to it, fact it's "in the stratosphere" .in terms of the pitch/range. Yikes. Herr Immer probably plays it (the Baroque trumpet) better than anyone alive today. Spectacular, flawless. Immer's intonation surpasses IMPECCABLE!

I think the laziness of using a baroque trumpet with holes is forgivable. This piece is insane and very few trumpeters are skilled enough to play this piece. I'm finding it incredibly difficult just in B flat, but in F, there are very few people who can go that high
Natural trumpets have intonation problems on some notes. Holes are drilled at key nodes so that when they are opened or closed, intonation improves. I believe they also help with register changes ("slotting").
It's not laziness. They are playing on period instruments. It's common for a lot of Baroque ensembles. I'm no musician, but I'd also wager that they are playing at Baroque pitch as well.
These players understand the dance-like quality of the music! They're all dancing along (except for the trumpeter, who needs to hold still for concentration...)
The allegro assai was the theme song to William Buckley's Firing Line.
Trumpet player's face looks like "Oh, just another day playing one of the most difficult trumpet concertos if not THE most difficult."
William F. Buckley Jr.'s sly grin brought me here...

8:52 Firing Line!
The trumpet part is knwown for being "fiendishly difficult" to play.
It's apparent why.
Can you please tell me the hole name of the trumpet player? Thank you!!
8:52 - ... and Firing Line this week comes from the illustrious halls of the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra..
Anyone know the name of the trumpeter?
I wonder why jazz trumpeters like Cat.Anderson, Arturo Sandoval or other high note screamers never gave it a try, they would've been awesome.
Positively stunning performance of this work. Such a passionate and exciting interpretation. My new favorite recording.

@_11:25-11:30_I'm good! Yup, I've got (that) part! Can you all take care of the rest? ⚠
It is so refreshing to hear this music played on the instruments it was written for! The modern flute and trumpet and oboe do not do it justice!
At the 3:18 time mark, it is as if GOD himself intervened and just took over; okay...like, OKAY?!
So does that mean you do or don't like the trumpeter?

Master Chief There are no valves, but there are some holes in the trumpet to help control the pitch.
it's a baroque trumpet, no valves. harder to play.
Sums up brass players to me. Cheers mr Taylor wish u were still here
I missed that, stupid of me. Thanks!!
I imagine that the holes are especially useful for that 11th partial, which is way too sharp for traditional scale temperament.

Listening to this, it's hard for me to imagine it being played on a modern piston-valve trumpet, much less one of these things.
Listen to Maurice André's renddition on piccolo tp. Stunning.
One of the modern greats on the instrument, along with Michael Laird, Crispian Steele-Perkins, Niklas Eklund, and I'm sure others I haven't heard yet.
Love trumpet. I'm one myself. :)
Amazing!!!
it's a baroque one
they have holes
@3:24 is cool
Friedemann Immer, it's in the opening credits.
Ich finde das Tanzen und Schaukeln der MusikerInnen übertrieben. Und das Tempo zu hoch und mechanistisch.
I find the dancing and rocking of the musicians exaggerated, and the tempo too high and mechanistic.
That's not nice
the recorder is so beautifully played :) thanks!
0:22 epic trumpet shake heehee
I just find the second theme catchy
1:25 - 1:32 goosebumps!
wow, amazing. Thanks.
Friedemann Immer.

Thanks for posting.
Simply the best!
