The game of “Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions” also had a lot of cameos of a lot of previous voice actors who has voiced Spider-Man in cartoons. Amazing Dimension: Neil Patrick Harris - Spider-Man: The New Animated Series 2099 Dimension: Ted Schwartz - Spider-Man (1981) / Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends Noir Dimension: Christopher Daniel Barnes - Spider-Man: The Animated Series Ultimate Dimension: Josh Keaton - The Spectacular Spider-Man: Animated Series

@@davidthefakeog6155 I like how in that series they brought in quite a few obscure Spider-Man villains in that series. But I remember growing up with the 90’s Animated series when I was a kid.
16:01 aww I actually really enjoyed that game as a kid. Might be my child mentality at the time that looked past the flaws and just really enjoyed being Spider-Man.
It’s rightfully critiqued but I myself really enjoyed it when I was young. I still have my old GBASP and the game itself, so I might have to replay it now for old time’s sake 😂
People can judge me, but I like the version of Spider-Man 3 for PS3, XBOX 360 and PC. Has lots of problems but I think It was fun enough for fans. The variaty of villains and storylines that tie together to tell the main plot about the black suit, which is actually very well explored in the game, how Peter slowly realizes what the suit does to him. The game handles the black suit much better than the movie did. Played It a lot on PC.
Putting Maximum Carnage and Separation Anxiety so low on this list is absolutely criminal. Those games incorporated full comic panels into the story, added comic book style effects with every attack, and had some great side-scrolling beat ‘em up fun that (while mind numbing) was very enjoyable and kept me interested with each play. I realize they aren’t perfect titles, but come on, it was SNES and it was a miracle to even make a game at that point, let alone a masterpiece. Think of what the development team had to compare their project with at the time. You can’t expect a game with Spider-Man PS4 quality on a retro console title. Other than that, pretty nice list.
To be fair, Separation Anxiety didn’t have the comic panels-just walls of text. It was really disappointing compared to Maximum Carnage, which played a huge role in making me a big Spidey fan.
Outside of the ranking of Separation Anxiety, I've enjoyed this list. To me, Shattered Dimensions is the second best Spider-Man. But number 3 isn't a bad ranking.
@@aceofbass95 I couldn't get into 2 but they did put a ton of work into it. I had to put gta3 on there just because it changed the gaming world and it's template is still being used today
I feel like Edge of time was cucked hard in this video. The story is actually pretty good. Altho gameplay may be repetitive, the story really brings it more up there for me. The game has good actors, fun story, and makes you go on the edge of your seat, and looking at one spiderman helping another threw Messing with time itself, graphics are great too at the time. Spiderman 2099 shows his stuff, especially when he saves peter showing the true difference between them showing how cool he really is and how Peter is more faster between the spider men, I respect your opinion I just believe edge of time should be higher and more credit then it should be getting.
PS1 Spiderman was my childhood, I loved playing it over and over again, especially Venom parts, but that Venom chase was really frustrating for my child skills lol
I've always heard Maximum Carnage was seen as one of the better Spider-Man games. It's not great, but it's definitely better than most of the titles before the PS1.
If the guys hosting this video actually had to play all of these Spider-Man games, then obviously they'd be bitter and cynical by the time they got to the good ones.
The one where you gotta fight the creepy monstrous Symbiote Doc Ock was phenomenal for its time. One of the few that got a Spider-Man game right back in the early days.
Bro I was terrified of Monster Ock as a kid. Watched a longplay on RUclips last year, two decades after last playing it. Such an incredibly memorable game.
I do think it's a little weird you put the Atari game over the DS Web of Shadows and Edge of Time- Honestly you were a little hard on some of these games imo.
@@lunakingsley.7247 maximum carnage is one of my favorite games on the snes. i actually have more fun playing that than the much more popular turtles in time. to me turtles just feels more limited and kinda boring. still a good game, i just thought it was a bit overrated.
I really enjoy that you gave "Amazing Spider-Man" for GB so much love. It was my first GB game and I still can go through the first 3 stages without much of a hazzle. I remember that I can´t wait for christmas that year and getting the GB & this game. It will always have a special place in my heart.
Maximum carnage looked better and didn’t deserve to be ranked so low. Sure it’s not the most interesting but beat em ups are meant for killing hoards of enemies, so when someone complains that you only kill enemies I cringe cause that’s the entire point of beat em ups. Also spider snes was garbage compared to maximum carnage ( I own And played both) so it shouldve been higher
I disagree that it's garbage but MC is definitely the better game. He says MC is repetetive then puts SA one higher despite being even more repetetive. At least MC has more variety of regular goons.
"Maximum Carnage is not so difficult??? Ahh, C'mon man, are you serious? " I'm sure you probably never tried it, just like other games in this list, who are in a higher position but they suck a lot more. If there is a good Spiderman game for the 16 bit generation, is Maximum Carnage.
Amazing Spider-Man 1 for the PS3 was so much fun. The story was just ok but the amount of stuff to do in the city, specially the awesome way you collect flying comics in the air was just great. I haven't played the one for the PS4 but I hope they use that comic feature at some point if they haven't. It's just awesome.
i enjoyed TASM for a bit, but now i don't really like it, however the comic collecting was pretty rad and unfortunately Insomniac's spider-man PS4 doesn't carry that onward
@@eddieescobedo9975 lol different strokes for different folks I guess. I had so much fun hunting the comics, I actually got them before beating the main story.
Before the list starts, my pick is PS1 Spider-Man, that was my childhood game and Carnage and Monster-Ock bloody terrified me. Any less than top 3 and I'll be upset and possibly write an angry letter, be warned.
I really am glad Ultimate Spider-Man got a high mark. At least, the good versions of it, the DS one is a hot mess sometimes. It's super underrated tbh and deserves a lot more love. Plus, the GBA version is a surprisingly solid game, and I'm really happy that didn't get overlooked.
I had Spider-Man 2 on Xbox as a kid and spent sooooo many hours just swinging around and climbing the tallest buildings and jumping off of them lol. I never even played through much of the story itself because I was perfectly happy just swinging around, exploring, and doing those street-level fights. I was probably like 9 or 10 when i first got it and will still go back every once in a while to swing around to this very day lol. I always thought it was a great game, but now that you’ve ranked it as number 2 on the whole list, I’m considering actually going and playing through the story now that I’m older and you have it such high marks. I’m sure the main story is a lot of fun.
@@h.317 ahh, those were the days. As much as I love modern games, Xbox and ps2 was just a golden era for games. Maybe I just say that because I was a kid back then, but it really does seem like some games used to be more fun than modern games. I mean, these days most games follow the exact same structure, especially open world games. Basically every open world is just using the exact same mechanics to drive the story. You travel somewhere to meet a quest-giver, travel to your quest, complete the quest (which typically involves killing a bunch of baddies), then throw in a few smaller side missions (often fetch quests) between main quests that may sometimes throw you a little curveball with a surprise attack or something along those lines, then rinse and repeat for every game until you inevitably defeat a final boss and the game ends. It didn’t used to be so cut and dry with every game developer making massive open worlds where stuff is just copied and pasted all over the map and every game feels like a series of checklists to complete. There were just so many great, original games back then.
@@STSGuitar16 I agree with you. Crazy to believe but I still play my PlayStation 1. I been playing all my childhood ps1 games on their. I own all the PlayStation consoles and I still go back to play the old games. The first game that got me hooked on the a good story line game was “God of War”. It’s a good strategy game with amazing graphics at the time. Hint, it was PlayStation greatest games. Give God of War a try if you haven’t. God bless you bud.
@@h.317 yeah man, luckily my original Xbox still works too and it’s always a trip to play some of those games again. I didn’t play a ton of story-focused games back then. I was more of a fan of stuff like SSX Tricky, a basically reskinned Tony Hawk Pro Skater that was themed after Disney cartoons (Tarzan, Toy Story, Lion King, stuff like that) called Disney’s Extreme Skate Adventure, Star Wars Battlefront II, and some Scooby Doo games. Also loved movie games like Shrek 2, Spider-Man 2, and Lego Star Wars. Then around middle school I actually stopped playing a lot of video games (fell in love with playing guitar around that time), and it wasn’t until about a year and a half ago that I started playing again. These days I just finished Hogwarts Legacy (loved it) and have been going through all of the Assassin’s Creed games (I’ve finished through all of them except for the newer RPG games. Just started Valhalla a few days ago). It’s really wild to see how good stuff looks now and then go back to original Xbox games. Not that the OG games looked bad or anything, it’s just that stuff now looks incredible. Needless to say I’m glad I’ve gotten back into gaming.
I agree 100% with the top 4 but I would have placed Web of Shadows higher just for the air combat alone. The way you could jump from enemy to enemy without touching the ground was fantastic.
Not done with the video yet, just started it actually, but I’m already impressed with the fact that you bothered to rotoscope the hand on the dead black and white cyclops clip
I’m sorry boys but I have been playing Spider-Man games my whole life and there are a few critical points that are just plain wrong on this list. 1) Web of Shadows (PS3,360) is one of the best Spider-Man games for its incredible combat, mixing fighting and traversal together in a seamless way. 2) Spider-Man 3 for PS2 is not even close to being better than the PS3 one. It’s gameplay is way clunkier and is devoid of features in comparison to its next generation counterpart. They are both bad, but the 7th gen version is simply better. 3) Spider-Man 2’s combat is not mindless, it’s a predecessor to Arkham’s combat but more complex. Arkham is square to attack and triangle to counter, Spider-Man 2 is square to attack, circle to dodge (like Spider-Man ps4), and triangle after to counter. Plus it has many other combos that are out of this world satisfying if executed correctly. Play it again boys plz. 4) Brian Intihar, the director of Spider-Man ps4, does not see the comparison to this games combat to Arkham. That’s because it’s closer to Spider-Man 2’s and Ultimate Spider-Man’s combat. Sort of a fusion of the two. It’s not nearly as rhythm based as Arkham. There’s a lot to talk about there when comparing the two but I’ll stop here. Other than the things I mentioned, a good list.
imo, calling Spider-Man 2s combat a predecessor to arkham is just as wrong as calling spider-man ps4's combat inspired by arkham. They strive for completely different things. Arkham is like you said, basically a rhythm game where enemy types are like different beats you have to hit and you're rewarded for good timing and verrying your attacks by using gadgets. While Spider-Man 2 is a combo based game where linking different moves and attacks together is the funnest way to play. i think they're both very well designind combat systems that both do what they set out to Archive beautifully. also Spider-Man ps4 isn't just an amalgamation 2 and ultimate, it is mostly that but it also has elements of almost every single 3D Spider-Man game to date. there's the web strike from WOS, the swing kick from FOF and the impact web from Spider-Man PS1 just to name a few.
Anton Duroj Bidstrup I could tell you watched Godzilla Mendoza’s video on Spider-Man PS4. My comparison between Spider-Man 2 and Arkham was just the combat controls, not the feel. But I agree with you about that last paragraph. There’s a lot to discuss.
Wow. I was honestly surprised about that you put PS4 Spidey at the first place! You know, all of these RUclips rank list's are so scared to offend fans, and I was 100% sure that number 1 will be Spider-Man 2 (because EVERYONE is saying that, and EVERYWHERE its number 1)...but no, you used your brain, not just feeling of nostalgia and you really made my day! What a great hour and a great list, thank you!

I LOVED Maximum Carnage as a kid. Separation Anxiety was pretty cool too, but MC was much better. You're very wrong about them being the same game. They are the same style of game yeah, but very different
46:00 this game has best spiderman gameplay ever every spiderman fan should experience this underrated gems imagine a game which have distinct combos for spiderman while he is in ground, air and wall and unique for red and blacksuit
I would say it was fair, especially for the time. It definitely is not terrible. I feel it should have been above quite a few games on here. Spider man 3 for ps2 and xbox 360 was awful for a more modern game, I think they should have been much earlier on the list.
Yeah, Spider-Man for the SNES is definitely worthy of a much higher spot considering some of the others above it. I guess I get comparing them to todays sensibilities, but it was a good game for its time, and did a great job with what it had to work with hardware-wise. Also, back then, it was very common for these kinds of games to require you to defeat every enemy in an area before you can move on. Same thing with the Judge Dredd game on the SNES, also a great game.
How could you guys rank the amazing spider man 2 (Xbox 360 version) so low it just doesn’t deserve that it’s better than spider man edge of time (Xbox 360 version)
I always get surprised why edge of time got such a bad rap, I understand it wasn't a sequel to shattered dimensions like everyone wanted, but the production time was half of what it should be. There's still a very good and intriguing story there, the gameplay wasn't everything the ps4's Spider-Man brought to the table but I found it fun. The cutscenes were definitely something to marvel at for the time. Had it not gotten so much hate it'd even be possible to see another shattered dimensions, it's too late for that now though.
Web of Shadows is the most overrated game in the list. It’s not realistic at all and the graphics haven’t aged all the best. The good/bad dynamic was interesting but limited. I’d like to see more of that in the future. The gameplay was also just too repetitive so overall it’s just an ok game. People like to crap all over the Amazing Spider-Man games because the webs didn’t attach to buildings but they don’t in Web of Shadows either and he swings like he’s trying to imitate an airplane. I personally prefer a more realistic approach to Spider-Man’s swinging like in Spiderman 2 (ps2) or Marvel’s Spiderman (ps4).

I was expecting top 3 if I'm honest, as much as I enjoyed Shattered Dimensions for it's great story, it didn't even have an open world!
Ikr. Actually it's my favorite spiderman game. The freedom of movement and the combat variation and of course the comic books style
Not played Ultimate. After watching this I have just ordered it for PS2 as I don't have the other two consoles luckily or my mind would have popped trying to decide.
@@krimsonkakarot4945 haha I just ordered it as well since my old copy won't work. It's such a fun game. If you want to 100% the game then I wish you good luck. It's quite tough in some areas. The game of “Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions” also had a lot of cameos of a lot of previous voice actors who has voiced Spider-Man in cartoons.

I like how in that series they brought in quite a few obscure Spider-Man villains in that series.
Most kids are like that
It's quite good imo, and I feel it's not as buggy as he says it is.
Same with Spider-Man 2 DS for me.
Wanna know what game does all that stuff 1000 times better?
Comix Zone
No argument here. Comix Zone is also -- somehow -- 1000 times harder! 😀

Web of Shadows on the DS was amazing! It was a solid metroidvania with a really fun combat system.
I agree. Shattered Dimensions on the DS was just as good as well, if not better, with more modes and challenges.

The game has good actors, fun story, and makes you go on the edge of your seat, and looking at one spiderman helping another threw Messing with time itself, graphics are great too at the time. Maximum carnage looked better and didn’t deserve to be ranked so low. Also spider snes was garbage compared to maximum carnage ( I own And played both) so it shouldve been higher

Amazing Spider-Man 1 for the PS3 was so much fun. The story was just ok but the amount of stuff to do in the city, specially the awesome way you collect flying comics in the air was just great.

I loved maximum carnage as a kid 😕
I would do the same after I got out of school! Spider-Man 2 on the PS2. 😊

Controversial opinion: I actually really like Web of Fire.
My top 5: 1) Spider-Man PS4 2) Spider-Man 2 3) Ultimate Spider-Man 4) Web of Shadows 5) Shattered Dimensions
imo, calling Spider-Man 2s combat a predecessor to arkham is just as wrong as calling spider-man ps4's combat inspired by arkham.
Web of Shadows gets really repetive and boring really fast.
