  • This antique pan was forged by hand. Both pan and lid is made of copper.
It belongs to my fathers grandmothers mother. It was used on
wood fire. They cleaned it before moving village and from that time they never used it.The tin coating seemed fine to me.I did my best to preserve the coating.
I plan to use it occasionally.
I wanted it to look old So I did not polish outside of the pan.

I think you need a bit of acid to add to the bicarbonate of soda. Next time try mixing it to a paste with vinegar and /or lemon juice. Coat the item with paste and leave sit covered for an hour or even overnight. Another option is Coke a Cola as it cleans bronze pennies. Steel wool might be better than the synthetic sponge too. Only suggestions. Seems like a lot of work. I have cleaned, burnt steel, pans with the above methods and they came up very well. Still they weren’t copper. There are also copper cleaners on the market, might be worth enquiring. Any way I anticipate another job well done.

Ja bym wziął jeszcze paste polerską to się kupuje u jubilera nie drogo ta patelnia swieciłaby się jak psu jajca. 😊

I’m not sure I appreciate the tin coating anymore. The copper underneath would be nicer, imo. But of course it is a family piece.
