Last July. Collemachia, Italy with a permanent population of 39, the breading grounds of a novel that remains undone and a month at my first creative residency. I talk a bit about my process and how I began; I wrote and by writing became a writer. I hope you enjoy.
The Museum of Loss and Renewal (themuseumoflossandrenewal.life/).
As both a screenwriter, in a professional capacity, and a novelist, as a pastime, I've learned that progress is made by consistently sitting down with a yellow pad or at the laptop daily. Accomplishments are built one word, one sentence, one paragraph, and one page at a time. Commit to writing daily, even if for only 15 minutes, and focus on capturing the words. Don't stress over perfection - just write. You can always revise and improve your work in later drafts. Sure, it can be intimidating, but bit by bit, it all comes together. Remember to enjoy the journey - that's a big part of the fun!
"In all the world's stories, this was mine". I've written something like that at the end of my 2nd book. I started writing this year after years and years of imagining words instead of putting them where they belong and I can say it was really challenging, but amazingly satisfying. You'll face difficulties in your creative process, that's for sure, but you'll be rewarded with something unattainable by any other thing, which is a deep understanding of your emotions. To quote from a book I really love (precisely the book thief, a pretty famous one, I guess):"You'll hate the words and you'll love them...and I hope you'll make them right".
I have only watched the intro but girl- I have had to record the screen to copy those words on a notebook and leave on the comments HOW grateful I am I have came across this vid! :,) as writer who just have turned twenty and is about to start a summer writing journey this means everything to me omg 💌 and not make me start on HOW GOOD the filiming and editing is, like watching a movie 🌟🌟🌟
Hi!!!! This is an incredibly kind comment, thank you thank you thank you. I wish you all the very best on your writing journey, maybe we'll cross paths along the way!!! Much love
This video is just what I need it. Literally I have my final exam of high school tomorrow and after this I am taking a gap year and I can't wait to start writing my own stories a novels. This is exactly what I plan to do next year and it's very insiring to see you someone do it!! Good luck with your writing!
I’ve been writing my book since January this year and until now I’m still at chapter 2. This video is so inspiring.
what you said about unfinished projects? i felt that. 💙
Currently I'm in a really dark place but your video is truly like light in the tunnel. I feel trapped and the place I'm in at the moment feels like a prison and the only way to escape from it is writing but I cannot write and it's all full circle. I need that kind of refuge you found in this video. You seem very familiar to me with your desire to write and I guess all people who watch and comment this are connected in some way. Happy to know there are my people around the world. Keep writing!
Hey, I just wanted to say you will get through this, and you will find your way out of the circle that keeps you stuck and into much more life. I've been there many times before, and probably will find myself there again, but the beautiful thing is that life is always here pushing us forward in some way. Follow that path, find the little things that bring you light, and know things can always look radically different, if not now then maybe tomorrow, or the next day or the next, but all it takes is one moment for things to change in all the best ways. Keep holding the space for that, and keep writing, you will find your way. Sending you much love and support, you got this! All the best
@@clairemcgory Thank you very much for kind words! Your videos give me a lot of comfort lately since they show real life, I can literally taste and smell your surrondings thanks to the details you show, it's just bewitching. Will surely follow you to see more of your journey. Lots of love!
Beautiful introduction .. truly

I feel like so much of writing is such a internal process and always ur like "fuck am I doing this right??" so it's so nice to see you talk through it when ur in process, felt very comforting
i love your mindset about writing and the way you approached your creative process was so inspirational!! from a 20-year-old working on her first novel -- thank you for this vid :)

WOW that was amazing! watching you going through this process and experience is so inspiring to me, I’ve also been in the process of writing my first book and hearing you talk about the journey is so relatable and validating, thank you for this!
It's always so nice to hear someone relate to your path, keep going with with your writing!!!! Wishing you all the best
this was so beautifully made and so honest!! thank you for sharing your journey :)
Lovely scenes. I am practicing my book. Keep up good works!
wow, you truly evoked your artistry throughout the entire video 💌 so beautiful
You were in Molise! So nice, I was born in Molise but grew up in a coastal town very close to Rome. I’m surprised internationals are discovering Molise, it’s such a small region, but I think it’s beautiful. You’ve got everything: the beach, the mountains, a couple of nice lakes where you can actually swim, and small cute villages
Molise is one of the most beautiful places I've had the privilege of getting to know. It's quiet but full of life, very few places can hold the space to be both things at once, but Molise does, and it teaches me a lot
This is relaxing and inspirational - your energy gives so much comfort & motivation ❤
aww this was lovely I love to see the ~process~
This was beautiful
this video is so incredibly beautiful!!!!
i love the introduction and the whole idea of the video, you seem really self conscious, genuine and interesting. I wish you the best and even if I don’t know you I am happy for your journey.
i like the rustiness of the video and that its shot in such a simple way although i would consider buying a mic :3

This is great, I love it. It’s true everything you said. I’m writing many projects right now. I’m mostly on writing characters/plots right now.

thank you for such a kind comment
Thank you for sharing your experience with us ❤ I stumbled upon your video in a moment where I was feeling really down about my own project. I'm currently writing my novel, and I feel like I'm going nowhere but your video has reminded me why I'm doing it in the first place. It feels right, I love to create, and I really want to experience this journey.
I'm definitely living under different circumstances, but I want to write, and I'll find myself the time to do it. Thank you again.
Hi, I just wanted to say thank you for such a heartfelt comment. It’s really quite an honor to connect over this, to share in that feeling which unites. It’s so very meaningful to me that this resonates. I wish you so much luck, keep writing and remembering why you love it, however you feel it, in whatever way you do; in doing so you can only succeed. Sending you much love and grace
so cool pls keep posting
Thank you so much for this video! As a young artist struggling to trust herself, so much of what you said resonated with me. ❤️ best of wishes on your novel! :)
Keep going and have faith, only you can share it your way and this world needs more of that. Best best of luck
❤️
7:20 omg perfect words 🥹
takes a lot of patience to write a book, I'm in the process and not giving up
Please keep making videos!
WHAT is the name of the song that appears in the final???? it makes me feel her storie in my own skin
I wish I could voice my thoughts in the way you do - truly, this is so so so beautiful. Pleasee keep on posting❤️ Do you still film at St Andrews? - the videos are my absolute favourite as someone looking to apply!
Hi!!! You are so sweet. As for St Andrews, I haven't filmed this year, I found myself a bit distracted with life, but maybe I will in the future. I have a couple bits and pieces I've captured from the past two semesters, maybe I'll put a video together? It would be very scattered but if that's nice to see I'll work on it. Much love!!!
Can't wait to visit Italy with my wife and kids. Btw: my novel, Growing Children, by Salustiano Berrios (me), will knock your socks off. Give it a look-see.
chill voice, cool shots, internalized 0 of the monologue = subscriber +1
how to find places like that and groups of people who also wants to write?
This is nice!
Are you doing this in Paris also?
I was there seeing some friends, but I’ll head back to France in August for a retreat 💌
breading grounds???
This struck a cord so deep within me. I am incredibly honored by your feeling words and such honest support, thank you for sharing this with me. I wish you success in all that lies too, much much love
It's "Unfinished," not undone. Undone means, typically, something falling apart or untied.
I know, but undone just felt right.
no kidding this is the best video I have watched on youtube in my entire life! a cinematographic masterpiece 🫀 have helped and inspired me a lot on my own artist journey! thanks for sharing it! xx
loved this video and it was so interesting to see being someone who is thinking about starting writing but has no experience!
