Last July. Collemachia, Italy with a permanent population of 39, the breading grounds of a novel that remains undone and a month at my first creative residency. I talk a bit about my process and how I began; I wrote and by writing became a writer. I hope you enjoy.

instagram: clairemcgory_ Welcome to 8 days of solo traveling in Sicily, Italy. I spent three days in the countryside near Castelmola and 5 nights in the center of Taormina. I swam in the sea, explored towns and churches, and met lots of fun people who kept me company along the way. I had the most special time just being a part of life here as a stranger in passing and am feeling ...

instagram: clairemcgory_ Helloooo. Welcome to two weeks in Paris, France with my lovely friend Emma. We spent our days wandering around & going to museums (Picasso, D'orsay, Louvre, et all), admiring beautiful art in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Paris in May was surreal; the city came alive in gardens, cafes, & conversations with friends in the sun. Also tucked ...

instagram: clairemcgory_ This is a long one. Settle in. Welcome to six days spent in lovely Mallorca with seven of my greatest friends. We stayed in Palma, rented cars, and explored as much of the island as we could in our short stay (Thank you Clara). Long days spent basking in the summer sun, feeling the wind on my face and the salt from the sea on my skin, I swear I came back ...

instagram: clairemcgory_ Hellooooo. Welcome to my March in St Andrews. I spent this month playing a lot of guitar, going for swims in the North Sea, at fashion shows, student art showcases that double as garden parties, and enjoying the beginnings of spring in this lovely costal town. It was a good month. Hope all is well, Claire

The First few Weeks at St Andrews: the start of it all
Music too loud, not gonna watch the video
This whole video (seen during the course of 2 days) has been a meditation on my own writing process. Your words gave definition to my feelings. You are doing it well. Thank you for deciding to post it.
Song in the intro? I loved it
Hey! New subs here..! Me too I'm writing a book. Ugh needed some people that align with my life. Glad people like me exist here.
how many hours a week would you say u spend studying (excluding contact hours)?
Did you finish the book?
This was the best writing vlog I've seen yet. Love it so much. Inspiring me while I work on my first writing vlog. Wish I was in Italy haha!
Your videos are like poetry you are a poet. They are so beautiful I’m telling you girl right now you are going to do big things.
Love the video and its vibe! ❤️
Do you care more about the book itself or just the fact that you're writing a book? Filming yourself day 1 kind of shows what the focus is on.
@@knad7365 Does it matter? Filmed or not you start from day one, and that was all I was showing to emphasize
Any chance you can share a reading list from your trip?
That was moving and thoughtful and inspiring! Magnifico! I can't wait for the book!
I have fallen in love with all of your videos after stumbling upon this one. I don’t think I’ve ever commented on a RUclips video, but I just had to say from one writer (songwriter) to another, you seem to have words and stories bursting out of you in every glance, word, and movement! A truly natural born storyteller, which is so fun to witness. You are definitely made to create and I cannot wait to hopefully follow along for more. Wishing you the best of luck ❤
lmao
Nice video and content! I would like to quote you Jack Kerouac, great writer, who in his book "The Dharma Burms" wrote a sentence that struck me so much - "One day I will find the right words, and they will be simple" P.S. Did you know that you resemble actress and singer Maya Hawke? Like Maya you are very talented and appear confident 🔝
This video struck a chord with me. I don’t have the exact words to express what I’m feeling, but it comes close to a feeling of unity, understanding and being understood. Thank you for this video, Claire <3
Wow! This is giving Ripley vibes
Wow! This is giving Ripley vibes
You are a beautiful human being, Claire.
I found your chanell today and im in love.. ps im from Poland <3
WHAT is the name of the song that appears in the final???? it makes me feel her storie in my own skin
how to find places like that and groups of people who also wants to write?
This is such a beautiful video.. I loved the vibe of this entire video :) hope you keep making videos ❤
"In all the world's stories, this was mine". I've written something like that at the end of my 2nd book. I started writing this year after years and years of imagining words instead of putting them where they belong and I can say it was really challenging, but amazingly satisfying. You'll face difficulties in your creative process, that's for sure, but you'll be rewarded with something unattainable by any other thing, which is a deep understanding of your emotions. To quote from a book I really love (precisely the book thief, a pretty famous one, I guess):"You'll hate the words and you'll love them...and I hope you'll make them right".
This is so beautiful and gives me hope, thank you.
please upload more!! your videos are like therapy
I feel like so much of writing is such a internal process and always ur like "fuck am I doing this right??" so it's so nice to see you talk through it when ur in process, felt very comforting
aww this was lovely I love to see the ~process~
Wow, I love this!
your vids are so inspiring!
I’ve been writing my book since January this year and until now I’m still at chapter 2. This video is so inspiring.
Keep going! Sending love
i love the introduction and the whole idea of the video, you seem really self conscious, genuine and interesting. I wish you the best and even if I don’t know you I am happy for your journey. i like the rustiness of the video and that its shot in such a simple way although i would consider buying a mic :3
this is amazing claire, so glad I stumbled upon it
Thank you
takes a lot of patience to write a book, I'm in the process and not giving up
Keep going!!!! You can do it!
wow. i really needed this right now. the way you talk is so refreshing :)
As both a screenwriter, in a professional capacity, and a novelist, as a pastime, I've learned that progress is made by consistently sitting down with a yellow pad or at the laptop daily. Accomplishments are built one word, one sentence, one paragraph, and one page at a time. Commit to writing daily, even if for only 15 minutes, and focus on capturing the words. Don't stress over perfection - just write. You can always revise and improve your work in later drafts. Sure, it can be intimidating, but bit by bit, it all comes together. Remember to enjoy the journey - that's a big part of the fun!
Lovely scenes. I am practicing my book. Keep up good works!
❤️
This video is just what I need it. Literally I have my final exam of high school tomorrow and after this I am taking a gap year and I can't wait to start writing my own stories a novels. This is exactly what I plan to do next year and it's very insiring to see you someone do it!! Good luck with your writing!
Good luck to you!!!! Enjoy the ride
I'm in love with your videos and your simple and kind outlook on life. Something that took me ages to figure out. And to you it seems just natural. Which is the way it should be. I'm also writing a book. It's an incredible journey, just like you said in your last video, art and creation it's a way of being. I hope you keep having fun in your journey of self discovery. See you in your next video!
loved this video and it was so interesting to see being someone who is thinking about starting writing but has no experience!
Hey Claire! Wanted to say that your videos are so gentle and kind. I only discovered you yesterday, but already have fallen in love with your channel. I feel this video to be very encouraging to do the same solo trip this summer (fingers crossed), maybe in the similar area. Thanks a lot, keep on creating! The art always speaks for itself. Ps. Did you take public bus from Katania to Taormina/ Castemola?
Thank you for sharing your experience with us ❤ I stumbled upon your video in a moment where I was feeling really down about my own project. I'm currently writing my novel, and I feel like I'm going nowhere but your video has reminded me why I'm doing it in the first place. It feels right, I love to create, and I really want to experience this journey. I'm definitely living under different circumstances, but I want to write, and I'll find myself the time to do it. Thank you again.
Hi, I just wanted to say thank you for such a heartfelt comment. It’s really quite an honor to connect over this, to share in that feeling which unites. It’s so very meaningful to me that this resonates. I wish you so much luck, keep writing and remembering why you love it, however you feel it, in whatever way you do; in doing so you can only succeed. Sending you much love and grace
Dude. The introduction hooked me. Im excited to finish the video. Already added to my fav playlist.
chill voice, cool shots, internalized 0 of the monologue = subscriber +1
This is nice! Are you doing this in Paris also?
I was there seeing some friends, but I’ll head back to France in August for a retreat 💌
This is relaxing and inspirational - your energy gives so much comfort & motivation ❤
this video is so incredibly beautiful!!!!
This is great, I love it. It’s true everything you said. I’m writing many projects right now. I’m mostly on writing characters/plots right now.
It's "Unfinished," not undone. Undone means, typically, something falling apart or untied.
I know, but undone just felt right.
Thank you so much for this video! As a young artist struggling to trust herself, so much of what you said resonated with me. ❤️ best of wishes on your novel! :)
Keep going and have faith, only you can share it your way and this world needs more of that. Best best of luck
