It is even more dangerous when you are working at the belt drive. If you get your finger between the belt and a pulley that finger is gone. If correctly wired a remote start will never work with the hood open.
I can’t speak for any other makes but factory-installed remote start systems on GM vehicles won’t crank the starter if the hood, any of the doors or even the deck lid isn’t completely latched and regular start, by key or dash button, won’t work unless you have the brake pedal pressed. I assume clutch, too on models with manual transmissions. Failsafes out the wazoo. Could make diagnosing a no-crank a pain in the butt, too.
3:52 you notice the temp gauge spike but not the coolant on the ground for the last at least week? Those 3.5 Duratecs may be known for water pump failures killing engines, but they have a weep hole specifically put there for you to know it needs to be replaced. coolant gets past first water pump seal, starts leaking out onto ground. That's your warning that the 2nd seal will fail soon and you need to get that pump replaced
My lovely car recently had an annoying issue. The Cam shaft sensor completely died and according to the mechanic, the wiring was brittle as hell (I later confirmed this when he showed me) but it gets better. The last people to install the prior cam sensor was my cars manufacturer themselves 🙃
I hate seeing videos of mechanics and technicians causing extra damage by running a car with no oil just to record a video of it. This channel should call out those who do this. It isn’t right.
@@ouch1011 the owner brought the car to them for a reason and that may be it. They could have had it towed in after seeing the oil light, you don’t know. You’re saying its ok for the mechanic to further damage your vehicle to make a video about the reason you had it towed in?
Yeah, I've yet to see a failed water pump put coolant into the oil. Milkshakes usually don't happen like that. The overheat probably blew the head gasket.
2:08 FYI test this yourself, but on my fake jeep I can press the remote start AGAIN twice and it will turn OFF the car. There’s to many biased clowns out there that love to bash certain brands when every brand out there has issues. None of them are perfect, all designed to fail. The manufacturers aren’t in business to make cars that last forever, they’re in business to sell cars
from what I'm seeing is that the rear axle assembly is ripped off the frame completely, hanging from a rod or two, and some rubber bushings maybe, and of course, cables. seems like the passenger side's fasterings are holding on for dear life, while the rest hangs in balance. the silver thing is the end muffler, which is hinged on the assembly. I wonder what they did to make this happen. apparently these car aren't made for offroads.
Rear subframe failure. The front and rear subframes on the Jeep Patriot/Compass and Dodge Caliber are known for rotting out prematurely...FCA even extended the warranty on them to 10 years because of the issue.
After seeing the amount of rust that is on so many cars in America I think it’s probably safer to drive on the snow rather than putting salt on the roads 😮.
3:58 Use a 3 inch extension or a plug removal socket to remove square drive plugs. I ruined a ratchet by twisting the square drive on it trying to remove a plug. its not worth it to ruin the main tool, its cheaper to ruin an extension

Yeah, Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep vehicles suck. I bought a new Dodge Cummins back in 1990. In it's first 10 years, the fuel tank fell out of it once, and on two occasions the brake lines failed catastrophically. (the Cummins had a failure too, shortly beyond the 100K warranty, but I can't really hold Dodge accountable for that, other than them ignoring my complaints of low oil pressure indication years prior)
Got a 2001 Subaru forester, could tell it needed cv axel and oil pan gasket when I picked it up for $2400, immediately put $500 Into it first week I had it, at week 3 the headgasket blew.. currently at shop getting headgasket, waterpump, timing belt, and steering rack replaced, more gaskets, hope to have back tomorrow.. At least he got all the oil out? That waterpump with the impeller loose is a common problem with the Peugeot/Citroen 2.0 and 2.2 HDI diesel engines. Some sleepy head engineer thought it would be ok to crimp a plastic impeller on a steel shaft. The problem mostly surfaces in the large vans, Peugeot Boxer, Citroen Jumper/Relay but also happens to these same engines in passenger cars. And recently it happened to a 1.6 HDI as well.
Many of my oil changes are black, on 5k mile intervals. Different vehicles over the years, different oil and filter brands, just gets burned after a while. All my mowers also have black oil after only a season of mowing. Plus, that was a cheap security cam footage, could have been lighter than it looks in the clip ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
That oil change video was so funny. Why would you loosen anything on the top of the engine before starting the draining process? If you are still using the drain plug instead of extracting the oil, then remove the drain bolt, then go back up top if you want to loosen anything.
Um... what? The problem he had was due to negligence and nothing else. Leave the key in the ignition or the fob in the cup holder. Every single oil change I do I pull the fill cap and the dip stick before it goes in the air. Every. Single. One.
I cant say you're wrong but I can say unfortunately I usually do at least one a day and have most vehicles down to a ten minute science. But I have the unfair advantage of this being my profession.

Great oil pressure though! 😉
The really scary thing is these vehicles are on the road with us.
My question from France: How many accidents are the cause by this kind of vehicle ? Here, we have technical periodic control.
Thats what makes it more fun
Thats what happens when you bypass the hood switch when installing a remote start. Out of factory remote start dont do this
