About the abandoning Shadow Demons thing, I don’t think the people who gave that advice realise that if you develop a reputation for abandoning series, readers probably won’t bother getting invested in any new ones so I’d argue it would negatively affect your income.
I agree. I do think that authors who are in KU and writing 10 or more books a year see it differently and are more focused on new readers for each series, so it isn't the worst advice for certain situations but just not at all the right advice for someone like me who writes slow and long series

You know, thinking over the 20,000 readers part...maybe instead of listening to advice of abandoning it, what can you do to market it to increase that 20k reader group? Sometimes the best stories don't get to many hands, and instead of abandoning them, we should be fixing the problem of it not getting to many hands.
