That Spanish interpreter had to be the worst in the history of the pageant. She didn’t interpret the question correctly and this, Miss Colombia did not answer the question correctly. And the interpreter fouled up the translation!
At the time I could not understand why Mona Grudt was crowned, but now, 21 years later I am able to see that she was, and is a stunning woman. The judges were able to see through the awful, homemade clothes and perm. Dont believe me, google her recent photos. She is a true beauty.

Miss USA was lucky to be even in 2nd place. That year, they extended to cut to 6 finalists instead of the traditional 5. USA would have been out of the running.
