It simply should not matter if someone owns business or not. Board is not working, what can happen if its not working after repair attempt? Broken even more? Almost no chance for that. I hope that channel owner will not mind that I will mention few other channels. northridgefix is OK, but you will never find some detailed troubleshooting with videos of +25min, and unfortunately more and more marketing for his own shop. Some of his videos are purely replacing capacitor. Amount of knowledge transfer by ToltecMerc and Electronics repair school (Sorin) is incredibly higher. Videos are longer, with much more details and there are no 2 the same videos. ToltecMerc with this amount of knowledge transfer, dedication, perseverance can reach 300k subs in future, I am just glad I found him at just 2k subs to support him.

OMG!!! One of the first things I said out laud when this video first started was "No way in Hell will he ever get this one going"!! I did enjoy the frustration of the small wire under the scope soldering down and then back off and down again back off and finally down again. I can't tell you how many times I have been frustrated with small magnet wire jumpers under the scope. Well I do know who to contact when my kid spills a drink in his PS5 or XBOX.
Probably known, but when cleaning up corrosion a mix of 50/50 water and baking soda works extremely well. It will dissolve a good 90%+ just on contact without any agitation. Added bonus is it neutralizes any corrosion hiding under chips.
I use baking soda and water when cleaning leaked battery acid and capacitor electrolyte from PCBs. I don't think this was anything acidic, just electrolysis from combining water, electricity and metal.
I follow a tech from Argentina that uses a blue liquid he calls Smurf Juice. It chemically removes sulfated corrosión from the PCB really effectively. The channel is called Infosquad. He also uses some kind of paint stripper to remove rust from the board. It would be interesting to see if we can purchase in the US the stuff he uses because I think he makes them himself.
I have not worked on enough of these to say. I would swear that some of the runtime voltages are activated for a very short time upon AC input and then it seems to go to standby voltages only. Have you noticed this?

@@ToltecMerc Nooo. It was OG, you could sell it as a rare old OS. It's hard to find THAT old recovery image file to flash it onto a drive. Maybe you could factory reset it and save the drive into an image.

I had seen others reball the PCB but I had not tried it. The chip was so small and hard to hold, I decided to just place the balls on the PCB pads.
