Your right, the film hit copyright claims more than 20 times, alot around the Brooks scene. Between my editor and I we did the best we could with it. It's a RUclips movie now so they copyright the heck out of it
@JrocksAndDevinity really? Every other reaction shown that scene. In fact, there is a RUclips reaction especially dedicated to that scene. It's your reaction, I was just saying 😀
@@damienheaton7571 Yeah your right, I reached out to other channels and my editor talked to some of his other clients as well to figure out how they got it through. They answers we got is that something changed with RUclips and this movie, looks like RUclips studios owns the rights to it now. The other channels we talked to all eventually got hit with copyright claims but they were either able to dispute the claim or just take the copyright hit. We are a new channel and we werent in the RUclips partner program at the time we posted it (we are now) so we couldn't take a copyright hit. Again, as a movie collector for almost 4 decades, my top 5 movies ever: 1. Titanic 2. Braveheart 3. Schindler's list 4. Shawshank redemption 5. Gladiator.... and also 6. The green mile 7. Ben Hur etc... (you will notice that all of this movies are about 3 hours long, or more...)
The letter Andy left for Red had to be purposely cryptic. Think about it -- why would he put his location on a piece of paper, when there's always a chance someone other than Red could get their hands on it? (Remember that Andy is still a fugitive, so he'd be arrested, extradited back to the states. Then he'd have to try and prove he was innocent of his initial crime. Also, he did still did do money laundering for the warden - and then stole his money as well, lol). Back to the letter.... Andy had to rely on Red's memory, and that he would remember the name of the town. Worst case, if Red forgot the name -- he almost surely remembered it was a town on the Mexican coast where "They say it has no memory". With that info and an atlas, he could narrow it down to a list of a few places that sounded familiar, and then travel to each place and asked if a 6'6" gringo lived there. Same thing when he reached Zihuatanejo. Why would he need an address, when I suspect the first Mexican he asked could point him to the really tall gringo who lived on the beach?
Honestly guys the hype around this film is real. The most amazing thing about this film is it wasn't really a box office success, but when it went to VHS Video rental the word got around and it became an utter cult classic watched by millions, it is one of the the greatest films of all time. Great reaction guys we could see you were genuinely moved by it. Incredible to think also that it was only a Steven King short story called Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption and became this epic film. A film of true hope conquers all, a beautiful ending on the beach after all they had been through with a glorious panoramic shot from above.
That's crazy! We absolutely loved the movie 🎬, and I actually keep thinking back to it. Might even do a rewatch of camera of it soon just to see if there's any other details I missed. Amazing story, thanks for the comment! ❤️
I believe the parole board released Red because he finally told them what he really thought, instead of what he thought the parole board wanted to hear.
It didn't show it in this movie, but the Prosecutor at the beginning asks the Jury if Andy's wife and her lover's sin was so bad as to warrant the death penalty. According to Old Testament law, adultery was a crime punishable by death.
Cant remember how old I was when I first saw Shawshank, I just remember being captivated from start to finish. So many memorible scenes.Especially the ending. Clancy Brown (the guard) was also great villain. He made it clear, you dont F with the tax man. 😂
Shawshank = the greatest movie ever. You should also check out another Frank Darabont adaptation of a Stephen King story that also takes place in a jail - The Green Mile. Bring tissues.
I expecte to see the sad scenes when Brooks got out and how it affected everyone. I think you figured out Andy's character pretty quick, faster than many reactors did. I know you have to edit it so that you don't show the whole movie, but you cut this one too short. I enjoyed your reactions nonetheless.
@@stellaandes759 Yeah we really wanted to show the Brooks scenes, something changed with it with RUclips and it was a bigger pain than most could imagine. Our editor had to re edit it 18 times and still it wouldn't go through the copyright checks. I then spent about 30 more hours on it myself and finally got it to go through. I almost gave up and didn't post it. I spoke to other channels and they said they either disputed the claim or took the copyright hit. We didn't have the option at the time because we are a new channel and weren't in the RUclips partner program at the time (we are now). Sadly there was basically nothing of the Brooks scene that we could leave in despite trying really hard. Regardless, we are glad you enjoyed what we were able to show! It was such an amazing movie on so many levels!
The California Innocence Project founded in 1999 The Northern California Innocence Project founded in 2001 and the Innocence Project of New York founded in 1992 are the original three innocence projects that have helped get wrongly convicted people out of prison. Now today every state in the USA has their own innocence projects. I see this movie from a lawyers perspective.
This was actually filmed in a former prison in Mansfield Ohio. (Cheers from Cincinnati by the way.) Good commentary, you’re both looking good. Obviously Devinity the most.
10/10 A Timeless Tale of Hope and Resilience It is a timeless tale of hope and resilience that remains deeply impactful to this day. Set within the confines of Shawshank State Penitentiary, the film intricately weaves a narrative of human spirit's triumph over adversity and the enduring power of hope. Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman deliver captivating performances, infusing life into their characters and making their journey truly unforgettable. Under the skilled direction of Frank Darabont, the film's storytelling unfolds seamlessly, drawing the audience into a world of despair and redemption. Through its exploration of friendship, injustice, and the pursuit of freedom, "The Shawshank Redemption" resonates with audiences worldwide, leaving a profound and emotional impression that lingers long after the credits roll.
I enjoyed this you two! Have you seen "Stand By Me"? It's another heartfelt funny and tragic story by Stephen King. "Misery" also by King is one heck of a suspenseful/creepy tale with incredible acting!
I (Jrocks) have seen Stand By Me as a kid, Devinity has not. Neither of us seen Misery but I do recall what it is about. Will have to add them to the list. Thanks so much!
A great movie with Tim Robbins and Jeff Bridges with an incredible ending is Arlington Road. I keep suggesting it to channels and no one ever reacts to it. Maybe you guys could be the first. It’s an awesome drama. One suggestion guys, don’t edit the movie so much. I can’t believe you totally cut out the Brooks story.
I'll take a look at Arlington Road, thanks for the suggestion! As far as the editing, trust me, we wish we didn't have to edit so much. Our editor had to re edit this one 18 times due to copyright claims and it still didn't pass. I then took over and spent about 30 more hours on it until it finally stopped getting copyright claims. Sadly, basically all the important scenes with Brooks that we reacted to couldn't remain in.
@@JrocksAndDevinity yeah the whole copywrite thing can be a drag. As far as Arlington Road, I really don’t know if it’s just not available on streaming anywhere orwhat the issue is. But it’s worth just buying it in dvd if that’s what it takes.
