Thank you Mark, for another video and for the tips on photographing at night in hides. Mashatu is on my bucket list and this new hide just made it even more interesting.
Holy sh… Mark! I had been in the other underground hide at Mashatu in April 2024, which was fantastic. But a sleep-out underground hide? How awesome is this, please?! Thanks so much for sharing. And I particularly love the bathing hyenas in your video.
Hi Mark - Thanks for sharing and bringing these „sleep-in underground hides“ to my attention. I watched the C4 Photo Safari hide intro video and they mentioned the hide is open from March through Nov. Given that I am more into birds, I wonder whether there is a particular season when more birds than usual might be around? Thx !
Thanks for the message Frank. I still need to sort out the star rating, so some of them will be higher 😊 also, regarding birds, the dry season will always be best for animals and birds. Dry season generally from July but peaks in September / October.
Hi Mark, given that you can open the windows, any chance that one of these predators may give it a try in entering the sleep-in hide, for a REAL close-up photo ops? Thx
Hi Frank, I mean it is technically possible for animal to come into the hide, but the animals are very skittish when they see humans in the hide, and it won’t be a problem. If everyone is asleep, it’s advisable to close the hide up, which is a perfect option available.
I didn't even know that hides like that existed, with beds and all! Great photos!
It’s a fantastic hide, definitely worth visiting! I appreciate the kind words about the photos 😊
Fantastic video Mark. The images you got are incredible from one session. Thanks for sharing your great views about the Lala Limpopo hide!
Thanks so much Shem! Thanks again for the opportunity and I’m super stoked with what we got from the session!

Hi Mark. we are already booked in for a night at the hide in May and really looking forward to it. Thanks for the great information.
That’s amazing to hear! I’m sure you will enjoy it!
