The con was to get on an email list thinking we would only get emailed links to this podcast only to find it has since been made public and is on castbox and I'm sure other podcast services
Especially considering the fact that this wasn't their first time telling that story - you've probably seen Brian and Jason talking about it in a Modern Rogue episode, but my goodness, Brian's storytelling chops shines really well in this podcast format
I can only imagine that the people listening to Orson Welles and the telling of War of the World's felt the same way I did during this episode. Absolutely hooked on every word, drawn in more and more with every chapter. Congratulations Brian, you have created the podcast that kept my attention for more than 5 minutes, and has me, and many others, craving more. Bravo Brian, bravo.
I love your story telling, flat out, but this, at first, felt like you telling one of JRY's stories . . . Until you uttered 'Heil Yeah' (Or yes, whichever). You sealed the deal as this being YOUR tale in your voice immediately at that point. LOVED it!!
@@JustinRobertYoung I love that the two of you are so familiar with each other's methods that it's easy to hear that story in either voice, but those little embellishments are the exact right touch to push it one direction or the other. With Brian, it's definitely things like Heil Yeah. With you, it's your excitability. Now, after listening to this, I want to hear the two of you doing a true back and forth narrative that isn't just one of your Tuesday Night antics. You know, done in the Dog and Pony Show style.
You have a great voice for narration Brian. This had me hooked from the start and attentively focused the whole way through. Great episode, I looks forward to more!
You all have done a spectacular job with the writing and the storytelling. It kept me listening all the way through. At the end the music was a little loud, from around 36:15 to 36:35, and it was hard to hear Brian without backing up and listening to it a couple of times, but overall a spectacular job. Waiting for the next episode!
Holy crap, guys, I am soooo hooked. If I had one complaint, it's that some of the musical interludes are a smidge long for my liking (and the music near the end is a bit loud, as others have said), but I'm definitely tuning in for the next episode. Keep 'em coming!
I have read stories and watched documentaries about this, but to hear it from a rogue is like hearing it in a bar. I want to hear more. Excellent job guys.
my favourite channel creates a podcast literally weeks after i get super into podcasts? It seems the stars have aligned - I look forward to the future episodes guys
I could not smash like fast enough!!!! Dang please keep these coming!!! These was epic, totally war of the worlds like, holy cow I loved this and cannot wait for the next one!!!!
i haven't even listened to the episode yet, but from an audio nerd, i wanna say a big A+ already for the effort gone into visualizing something in an audio medium
Highly informative and well written! The music really brought it together! I had a guy try to sell me a high end camcorder in a taco bell. I said i would buy it if he opened the box! I was told to F**k Off! lol and he left! There was probably just a brick in the box!
I listened to this before bed last night and woke up thinking about it. Great stuff! Can't wait for the rest to come out. I also low key kinda want that reel-to-reel tape of the podcast. How awesome would it be for my RSS feed to show up as a tape in the mail every week. Though it would be much harder to listen in the car. Lol at the run through at 35:48 too.
Scammaster Shwood. I don't mean to jinx you or anything but I happen to notice that you have zero dislikes on this video. I don't know if I'm just paranoid or giving ya too much credit but opting into a video like this via mailing list is almost a surefire way to guarantee little to no dislikes. I love it.
I just discovered this series. As a mr viewer, I feel conned by not realizing this existed. I love it on the same level I love fall of civilizations and true spies podcasts. I use them to fall asleep. Put it on half speed, unless you’re using it to stay awake.
A few unnecessary feeling music breaks I forwarded through and some music that made the story hard to hear but I'm sure it'll only get better. Liking it so far!
Gimmie MORE of this SWEET SWEET 2160p 4K video resolution AUDIO PODCAST :) This Rev3 Scam School graduate salutes you Brian! The layers of this 'con' are astounding....
Brushwood and Co, you brilliant bastards. Nice presentation too, you really went to the trouble of putting it onto tape didn't you. My dad has one of these (literally this) and I remember as a kid listening to stuff through some some super uncomfortable, wirery IEMs, brought back memories. Hope the podcast venture goes viral. O7
Definitely would've payed more attention in history classes if Brian taught it to me! I had an English teacher like this and always struggled until I met him. He made learning fun. You do the same Brian and Co. Unbelievable storytelling "gig". Hehe. Keep it up guys!
I read a book on Operation Mincemeat as a child, and to this day it is one of the coolest espionage stories, real or fictitious that I have ever come across.
After 5-10min, I had completely forgot that it was a YT video. I genuinely thought that I was listening to an audiobook. I defiantly would love to have this as an audiobook and to read the transcript of it as well. That would be amazing.
I was a white van speaker seller as a teenager. We would drive up and down the turnpike all day, stopping at the rest stops and service plazas. Sold tons of them.
This is such a good telling of this event. So much more detailed than many videos I've seen talking about this operation, with good analogies. Keep it up, excited to see more!
I love it. I have been fascinated with the operation mincemeat story for decades since i heard about it in high school. This is a great rendition of it and I cant wait for more episodes!
So glad to see an actual deep dive into Ian Fleming, I did a 5 page paper for my English class about him and used all the info I could, he was definitely one of the coolest intelligence agents in history, also another cool spy who was an influence in the writing of James Bond was Drusko Popov a Serbian millionaire who was a double agent for the allies in WWII
Just commenting so the channel gets more user engagement, but Brian honestly has one of the most soothing and interesting voices that I have ever heard.
Damn this was truly amazing. Everything from the old timey theme to the excellent story telling. I am sure that everyone is eagerly awaiting the next episodes (I know I am)
It is a very good story, told very well. The only things I would like to change would be how much, how long, and how loud the music played towards the end. Every background sound and added music was really good until the music started to increase in volume. Then it lasted for 10, then 20, then 30 seconds. Right up until the end when the background music was louder than the narration. Don't take these critiques the wrong way; I loved the story, it was just difficult for me to keep up with the music blaring. I can't wait for the next one. Also, I hope that I didn't come off as rude. I apologize if I did.
I'm halfway through and am enjoying it so far. I seem to remember that this story was discussed on The Modern Rogue channel as well but the telling of this version definitely adds to the story.
this story is amazing and its told perfectly, and i cant wait to hear more of them. but somehow what i love even more is that its giving me an insight into how principles of magic and such apply in way that i never would have even thought about. maybe this is the worlds greatest con?
This was amazing. For some reason My mind went back to some nights watching Night Attack when listening to this. I was delighted to see why when I heard who the authors were. Great job boys!!
This has such big "old time radio show" energy and I FUCKING LOVE IT. I will be eagerly awaiting the next installment.
Hear here!
I am so thrilled to hear this realized and released.
An excellent telling of an excellent story!
@@tobyandersen6612 that's awesome! 👍😁👍
I'm so glad to have been a little bit of help to your day!
i don't know *why* but i hadn't yet had expected you here
Nice seeing you here!

@@kiddy1992 with me, one must expect the unexpected 😏
I find hilarious that we got 'conned' to listen to a podcast about the world's greatest con. Just brilliant. 10/10 would get bamboozled again
what if this is the world's greatest con
The con was to get on an email list thinking we would only get emailed links to this podcast only to find it has since been made public and is on castbox and I'm sure other podcast services
Heard this story quite a few times now, but this might be the best telling of it so far.
Agreed like the first time i heard it, it was in a 20 minute or so video but only Brian and the team can pull off a 2 hour (probably) telling of it.
Agreed
It's such a good story, and he is such a good story teller.
This thread

Bravo Brian, bravo.
I'm not really into podcast, but after that hook, I just hat to see this through.
Awesome!!!
feels a little bit like listening to a secret, something i shouldn't be listening
I love your story telling, flat out, but this, at first, felt like you telling one of JRY's stories . . . Until you uttered 'Heil Yeah' (Or yes, whichever). You sealed the deal as this being YOUR tale in your voice immediately at that point. LOVED it!!
“Heil Yeah” was 1000000% Brian and was staying in no matter what from the moment it left his lips.
@@JustinRobertYoung I love that the two of you are so familiar with each other's methods that it's easy to hear that story in either voice, but those little embellishments are the exact right touch to push it one direction or the other. i had a hard time hearing him also other then that, this is AMAZING. Very well produced. Great work Brian and Justin!!
If it happens again, and for others who haven't experienced it yet...
Pause, lower the volume, and put on the Close Captioning.

those are placeholders for ads. Hang in there!
I have read stories and watched documentaries about this, but to hear it from a rogue is like hearing it in a bar. I want to hear more. Excellent job guys.
This is probably the best telling of this story I've heard, my history teachers (plural) didn't do this well
I've now listened to this whole thing a second time. I still love it.
I love podcasts that are like stories, or old time radio programs. Absolute great work on the sound effects and sound design. Just perfect.
sweet! i've been waiting for you guys to finally do a podcast
I feel like a con man myself listening to this
The sound effects give it this... touch... superb
I have heard this story more times than I care to admit, but this is by far the best telling of it! well done!
Yeah this is some good stuff. Excellent storytelling and top notch production. Worthy of laudation!
You should consider doing more VO work Brian, you have an excellent voice for it.
Agreed. I could imagine him doing voice work for a video game. I mean, he acted out being a legitimate bartender after all!
Edit: Audiobooks too.
Only on episode one --- and I am absolutely amazed at the qulaity of the story....TOP NOTCH WORK !!!!

I know this gist of this story already but the details in the background and Brians telling of it are just "magical"

This reminds me of the CBC radio documentaries, it's phenomenal.
Chef's kiss
I swear to god we need an audiobook narrated by Brian. Somehow I feel he could make even a user manual interesting.
Finally something new to add to my podcast addict app. Thanks!

This is amazing! So much fun!
Wonderfully produced, but some of the musical interludes are a wee bit long
They are for ad breaks if we decide to sell some ads.
But I agree 😊
