  • In my opinion: Because feet are used in Sanda, boxing drills have to be done always cognitively with the potential of feet/leg/ knee/ elbow counters. So even during pad drills with just punches i keep them aware of feet and range. The rules in boxing apply here but additional rules apply for full contact fighters due to distance and throws. It can vary but basically I follow Range #1 grappling/elbows/ Knees #2 Fist strikes #3 kicking range. Again, Basic ranges that can vary based on your style. Combining Boxing techniques with Martial Arts techniques is tricky… it’s all about timing and natural fight rhythm which will determine if a technique or strategy works.
