Hi Rick, I am an amateur sailor and came across your vids a couple of weeks ago (episodes 390 to 449). Loved them, I decided to start at ep 1. So envious mate, I am 76 years and wish I'd done your thing years ago. Thanks for the vids.
Hey Rick, Happy to see you back on the grid. The new crew appears to be full of energy and ready to set sail. Look forward to seeing your new series. Take Care.
Glad you enjoyed, thanks for watching! And keep an ear out, we may be having another raffle/contest for a cabin aboard 'Sophisticated Lady' in near future! :)
Hi Rick and crew just want to say all your videos It is very refreshing to have a down to earth real life crew and captain and your adventures. Hope to be down there to meet u all real soon.
Hey Rick...awesome video and very inspiring to us newbie sailors with "the dream"! You have to name baby grey what every traveler and Caribbean dreamer is familiar with and knows and after the king of Reggae "Marley" cheers..one love!
Hi Rick, sorry to hear about lucky, it’s a rare privilege to be able to share our life’s with another creature. Good to see the Lady on the move again, although that’s some amount of crud stuck to her bottom. Looks like a fun crew you have signed on for your new adventure. I’m going with Sasha or Lady Jane (Grey) for the Baby Grey.
So cool to see the entry of Nate and Jordan into the sailing scene courtesy of you Captain Rick. These two amazing souls are so creative and no wonder they have rolled through the next three years to launch their on sweet adventures on their boat Sylfia. Well done Rick. Nate and Jordan you are incredible videoagraphers. The other crew are amazing as well. Thanks for the intro to this new chapter in SSL and Fair Winds SSL. I am sure you all had a lot of freaking fun these 9 episodes. Look forward to the rewind and watching them all. Holy shit Rick that was a huge reef colony grown on the bottom of SL!
Great to have you back Cap't Rick (is Rick short for Red Rickord?)! You know we appreciate the videos big time. Thank you eh...and yes it is still snowing in Canada today.
Hi from Victoria BC. Love your channel Rick. looking forward to what your new video crew will add to the mix. Hard to name the bird without meeting her. It should be you naming her anyway. But she does look adorable. Sorry to hear about Lucky and your loss.
Thanks Rob, and nice to hear from the West side! Appreciate your comment, and yes I will likely make final decision, just thought it would be cool to hear some suggestions from viewers.. Thanks again, and have a great day! :)
Long time subscriber, now watching from the beginning! I was watching you clean the hull and hoping you were all wearing ear plugs as I knew what was about to happen. You live and learn! Keep up the videos.
ahoy captain rick.. island bwoy here from jamaica, met you through svdelos videos, and after completing all their videos i wanted to check you out. great videos, and now i see nate and jordan on here . great couple, watched their vids, and their two new vids with their new boat.. what a small earth eyyy? gonna check your vids out.
Hi, Rick: Just subscribed a couple of days ago. What a treat! The color values you produce are just out of this world, but just as wonderful (if more subtle) is the story line and the way you artfully move from scenery to life story to technical, etc. Just keep 'em coming because I'm addicted. Yikes! p.s. I sent a link to this video to my daughter-in-law who is a professional photographer and is moving into video production.
Awesome video Rick, the quality and the scenes are incredible...you give valuable information in an entertaining way for people like my gf and I planning to sail south in a couple of years... thanks
Baby Grey's name contribution.... "SOPHISTICATED LADY" = "LADY'S GREY" = "LADY" Great video Rick and glad to finally meet the new crew! Keep them coming. Will be on St. John in 82 days!
Great start. I'm really looking forward to following your adventures - and it will help me pretend I am somewhere more exotic as I cruise the gravy brown waters of the Bristol Channel in the UK. - Plus you have a real pirate on board; excellent.
Rick Moore Thanks! Me and the wife are wanting to rent or buy a Catamaran in about 2yrs and sail around the Caribbean. Where would you recommend starting out?
Helpful tip with wiring solar panels etc. Use Dielectric grease on all wiring connections. It will minimize corrosion and bad connections. It's generally easy to find in automotive stores.
Finally Rick, where do I start, what an amazing crew, they seem like such a bunch cool people, underwater footage is amazing, thanx for sharing, parrot's name should be princess,as she will spoiled like one, sorry about Sasha, and by tho way ,you are not missing much in Barrie, live it my fellow Barrian,😁
+Rick Moore same crap different decade,it was +31 today,so of course the 400 was a disaster, lol,I rather be where you are any day, besides that its the same Barrie when you left, stay safe and post more vids
Haha, I see how you're going to fend of any pirates, pull out your swords and threaten them yellowbeard style - they'll crack up so hard they'll either ignore you as you sail away or fall in the water and do themselves no good! And love your new fun crew!
Great video! Tell us more about the shrimp phenomena. I've never encountered ( fortunately) a mass of them in that tiny stage of growth. I know they have to be out there somewhere but I've never seen them at that small stage.
so thrilled you are getting a baby grey again. I was so sad over Lucky I did'nt even send a comment! Cannot wait to see your little girl arrive. How about Maya..it mean water??
Hi, I've just started to watch your movies on You Tube, this was the first one so I went and found some more, I have liked them so I have subscribed. Sorry to hear about your Parrot and you are going to get another one, I am from Kenya, now living in Australia, the Gray Parrot is very common in Kenya, or was when I lived there, my uncle had one and when ever he picked up a bottle of wine the Parrot would make the noise of the cork popping, he also talked a lot and was a lot of fun. The Swahili name for a Parrot is KASUKU, pronounced as it is spelt, KA-SU-KU, I think it is a fitting name. Now I have to find time to watch all your past adventures. All the best.
"Lucky" was one in a million. so hard to fathom her loss, Baby Grey has some rather large talons to fill. As for a name. . . what about Sailor L. Moore, I think we all know what the "L" stands for. Best of luck to you and your new crew! Can't wait for more videos:)
Well, okay! I'm a fan and now a subscriber to say the least. LOL Gave me a whole new look and thought process about life. Think I'm gonna quit my job now. Lol
ITS LOOKING GOOD RICK !!! GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN , LOVE THE CREW. SO SORRY ABOUT LUCKY. I have a name i will throw out there for the new Lucky and that is Be Be or just BB, Kikingbird
Rick, I'm partying with Teresa Breton at Port Hudson Marina FL..Shes raving about how much fun you're having!! I subscribed and I follow Dellus, she told me to follow you!❤
I was screaming “DON’T DO IT!” as she wielded that scabbard thing ; she so deftly ignored me over time and space .. Welcome aboard Schasha and because I saw more recent sea log vee logs, I know how this goes ❤️ so without further ado, let’s watch this!
What a cute baby grey. At 1st I thought of a name like Phoenix, like the bird raising from the ashes. But, since she is a little girl, I thought the name Phoebe sounded similar to Phoenix. The name Phoebe means 'pure or radiant as the moon'. Although, Baby Grey itself for a name is kind a catchy too :D
Okay, after I posted the name Phoebe, I remembered that I know someone who has a beautiful dog and someone else who has a daughter... both named Keira after the Pirates of the Caribbean actress Keira Knightley. Have fun naming your new addition!
Well, I don't know how long ago this was recorded but my friend your idler bearing for your alternator is toast. As a diesel /heavy equipment mechanic just by looking at it I can see that bearing is well past time to change and is near to dropping the ball bearings out of it and falling off! I hope you caught it but it's pretty thrashed... Great video thought, looks like your new crew will be pretty exciting... as for the name , how about... Kitty?
Yes, that idler bearing is gone, I put it in as an experiment to keep more tension on the belt but it didn't last long, only a year or so. But thanks for your observation and comment, and also for your name suggestion! It's funny though, Lucky always used to say "Here Kitty Kitty Kitty..." Lol
I will miss Lucky ,she was an amazing parrot and fun to watch....so smart and funny . I know how much she meant to you Rick, Condolences !My suggestion for a name for the n ew baby grey is : Skipper
Hey Rick ,Sid Mickler , long time subscriber , my wife and I love you guys , but on the beginning of this video you were having the boat fumigated...STOP and save your money ! , Good old BORAX laundry soap ,or anything with boric acid , sprinkled around , you'll never have an uninvited German aboard again !
Ah, it's not that we were promoting them, that is the company my crew used to work for, and the promo video they made for them while there. But having said that, my crew was already thinking about that when they read your message, so you may see the links soon! :)
Hay Rick, it still sad to me to see Lucky's cage hanging empty. I got really attached in only a week, as with all things one must look at the future not the past though. You look like your doing well and having fun still. Did you install a watermaker?
That's actually a new cage, waiting for Baby Grey's new arrival.. so yes, we are looking towards the future. No watermaker yet, but it's on the list for this year hopefully. Thanks for your comment, appreciate it! :)
At 19:37 you refer to your "Just Another Day In Paradise" series. Jimmy B would be proud. But I can NOT find that series anywhere. No mention on your website or You Tube channel info. WTF? Over. As a long time boat owner and former Ex-pat in exactly your stomping grounds, I have a great interest in the tech side. I got to be VERY good at repairs, jury rigging and ahhh...African Engineering. Mostly I was real big on preventative maintenance. Never mind. I found it. It is not another channel. Just a series on this channel. Cool.
Wow you all have great hair is my first impression , Other than Nate has a super personality Jordan has the most insatious eyes as well as quite pretty and the little pirate is big trouble, and last but never least Capt. Moore who could teach Capt.Morgan a thing or two, because He is a Gentleman and a Scholar a man who has had a lot of experiences but few that he hasn't taken a lesson from. So that's my noviciable take (I love to make my own words up!!!). Good Luck to the crew, David!
Rick, Would you mind letting me know the name of the breeder you bought your new baby African Grey from? I'm looking for a reputable breeder from Ontario as we are buying one as well for our sailboat which we will be taking down to the Caribbean in a few more years after we retire to liveaboard and travel. Thanks!
His name is John, he was referred by a friend and I've been talking with him for quite a while now and he seems excellent.. very knowledgable, friendly, and a big help with putting together all the paperwork and certifications we need to bring Baby Grey down here in near future. He is not in Ontario, but close, Montreal I think.. his phone number is 514-655-3455. You can tell him you saw his African Grey babies in my video, and tell him I said hello! :)
Will do, and thanks so much! I've heard that paperwork can be a real hassle, so that is great to know! Enjoy Grey Baby. I'll be looking forward to seeing your new videos with her.:)
When I first saw them scraping without covering up I thought "yeah that's not good". Then I got to the part where she was pulling little critters from "every hole on her body".
As a south african living in the UK I miss the grey's I have met, your's had character. My suggestion would be one from this selection of zulu words, Tombi = girlfriend or Ntombazanyana = little girl or Ntombi = young woman.
First of all, Rick, sorry for your loss. I get that it was your pet, but pets are so very special to us. Next, you look like you're having way too much fun with all those females. And a Russian gal, well, I really wish you the best. Now, as to the bottom of your boat. Wow, you really have a dirty bottom!
Hi Rick, I am an amateur sailor and came across your vids a couple of weeks ago (episodes 390 to 449). Loved them, I decided to start at ep 1.
So envious mate, I am 76 years and wish I'd done your thing years ago. Thanks for the vids.

cool video rick thanks for sharing i think you should name the parrot Hawk
Thanks Jerry, glad you enjoyed, and thanks for your comment and name suggestion! :)
Epic stuff Rick thanks !
Thanks Mate, appreciate your comment! :)
Thanks Mate, nice comment, and nice to hear from the home land! How's things back in my old stomping grounds?
+Rick Moore same crap different decade,it was +31 today,so of course the 400 was a disaster, lol,I rather be where you are any day, besides that its the same Barrie when you left, stay safe and post more vids
Good looking crew. Happy for you and the new baby. How about Lady Luck or Lucky Lady. Best of both.. Sophisticated and Lucky.

Great introduction of the new crew members.
I sugest as name for baby grey "Zazil". It means "light" of mayan language.
Thanks Paco, appreciate your comment, and your name suggestion! :)
Haha, I see how you're going to fend of any pirates, pull out your swords and threaten them yellowbeard style - they'll crack up so hard they'll either ignore you as you sail away or fall in the water and do themselves no good! And love your new fun crew!
And 1.5kw of solar - you guys are set! (we're going to stick with 500w solar and a hydrogenerator).
Very funny!
the baby shrimp, lol Hilarious!!!
Great video! Tell us more about the shrimp phenomena. I've never encountered ( fortunately) a mass of them in that tiny stage of growth. I know they have to be out there somewhere but I've never seen them at that small stage.
Glad you enjoyed! And yes, they grow like crazy on the bottom of the boat when in the lagoon... the water is very 'organic' there! Lol
so thrilled you are getting a baby grey again.
Thanks so much David, appreciate your comment, and your cool name suggestion! :)
Very beautiful name indeed
And Jessie has a healthy backstop
"Lucky" was one in a million. so hard to fathom her loss, Baby Grey has some rather large talons to fill. As for a name. . . what about Sailor L. Moore, I think we all know what the "L" stands for. Best of luck to you and your new crew! Can't wait for more videos:)
Thanks Ant Bree, appreciate your comment, and your name suggestion... and can't wait to get Baby Grey onboard in near future! :)
Well, okay! I'm a fan and now a subscriber to say the least. LOL
Gave me a whole new look and thought process about life. Think I'm gonna quit my job now. Lol
Thanks for subscribing, and welcome aboard! Just be sure and plan out your next moves before you actually quit the job! :)
+Rick Moore - appreciate the advice. A well thought out plan requires a well thought out strategy to execute. Working on it.
Great video! Just subscribed
Thanks Dom, glad you enjoyed, and welcome aboard! :)
Ok this is really a strange coincidence. I was diving with Kona huno in March. My good friend Vinny works there. Great dive outfit. Mahalo.
Cool Tim, I'll pass along your comment to my crew, I'm sure they must know Vinny also! :)
Yes we know Vinnie well, great company and as you can see....some of the best diving in the world in Kona
+Drenched Productions Vinny was my instructor at club Med back around 2009 for the rescue class, now I'm a MSDT. GREAT VIDEOS!
Awesome 😎
Thanks John, glad you enjoyed! :)
ITS LOOKING GOOD RICK !!! GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN , LOVE THE CREW. SO SORRY ABOUT LUCKY. I have a name i will throw out there for the new Lucky and that is Be Be or just BB, Kikingbird

Nice to meet you, welcome aboard! :)
Cpt. Rick, just become a patreon, great introduction video.
Nice video,Rick! Still subscribed and jealous
How about Finley? Great vid once again guy!

Thanks Mate, appreciate your comment, and your name suggestion! :)
nice vid bro
awesome video!!:)
Thanks Randall, glad you enjoyed! :)
Wow that is one serious pop rivet tool!
Hey Rick ,Sid Mickler , long time subscriber , my wife and I love you guys , but on the beginning of this video you were having the boat fumigated...STOP and save your money ! , Good old BORAX laundry soap ,or anything with boric acid , sprinkled around , you'll never have an uninvited German aboard again !
nice music. I love Thastor!
Please put the Kona Honu channel, Homepage and all social media into the Video description. Thanks
Are you from Kona Huna, or just interested in their services?
Rick Moore
Neither interested nor a Teammember but thats what I would do in your position to appreciate their amazing stuff.
Ah, it's not that we were promoting them, that is the company my crew used to work for, and the promo video they made for them while there. But having said that, my crew was already thinking about that when they read your message, so you may see the links soon! :)
Hey Rick. love the vid...good form...when do you look for new crew? Is there a way to apply?
Thanks,
Dean
Thanks Dean! Be sure and stay tuned, we'll have some opportunities for viewers to join the boat in the near future! :)
How long has the boat been in the water to get that much growth buildup?
The bottom gets cleaned every 4-6 weeks when storing in the lagoon, so that was about 5-6 weeks of growth
I would love to do this! I love the ocean!
Love Tiki...
Cool.
Would love a list of video equipment used to capture underwater scenes.
You'll likely see more about it in future vids.. stay tuned! :)
Baby grey name suggestion. There could only be one name for a seaborne parrot, 'Horatio'.
Good one Sean, Lol.. and thanks for your comment! :)
+Rick Moore you're most welcome. A few other nautical suggestions - Drake, Nelson, Francis, Admiral, Nemo, Hemingway.
I like Nemo, but maybe it's already taken? ;)
+Rick Moore Pixar only borrowed it themselves from Jules Verne, I think it's still fair game lol.
+Sean Hendy But who's going to know?
Wow you all have great hair is my first impression , Other than Nate has a super personality Jordan has the most insatious eyes as well as quite pretty and the little pirate is big trouble, and last but never least Capt. Moore who could teach Capt.Morgan a thing or two, because He is a Gentleman and a Scholar a man who has had a lot of experiences but few that he hasn't taken a lesson from. So that's my noviciable take (I love to make my own words up!!!). Good Luck to the crew, David!
Happy you have a new little friend! How about "Ella" She looks like a little pelican
Thanks for your comment James, and for your name suggestion! :)
Rick, Would you mind letting me know the name of the breeder you bought your new baby African Grey from? I'm looking for a reputable breeder from Ontario as we are buying one as well for our sailboat which we will be taking down to the Caribbean in a few more years after we retire to liveaboard and travel.
Thanks Sherri, look forward to hearing more from you! :)
Seeing how the pirate theme prevails... I vote for Bonny, as in Anne Bonny... The most infamous female pirate of all!
Thanks Mate, appreciate your comment, and your name suggestion! :)

So where you guys from? Got a friend from Toronto that would make a great crew member.

Great clip! Did you get a chance to sail around Anguilla and visit Prickly Pear?
I like the name "for-tune" extremely appropriate, you think?. Thanks for all the vids and I will miss Lucky my sympathies sir..
Thanks Mate, appreciate the sentiment, and your comment! :)
Baby Grey is Lovely Lady 😍
Yes, can't wait to get her aboard! :)
Yes well, welcome to life in a lagoon! Lol And thanks for your comment, glad you enjoyed the video! :)
