Just an old noob learning to stick weld and came across your channel. You're an impressive young man, very responsible, hard working, humble, always looking to improve your pipe welding skills, and you give a lot more to your viewers than most. Just wanted to say thanks for what you are giving and to encourage you to keep grinding.

I have a friend who moved to Houston. He parlayed his welding skills and got divers certs and went to the Middle East. He came back with enough money to open a full race shop and two homes. Underwater welding on oil rigs!
@@TheWeldLab Well...I doubt it was good times every day. He said the helicopter only came once a month for passengers and he was there 18 months. It was like a weekend type deal where you'd fly to wherever large city and that's when you'd hit stores like the mall or whatever then fly back. 18 months is a long time to not be spending paychecks. He said food and everything was brought to them and he played a lot of poker on the rigs. He told me they were under water one time and sharks usually weren't an issue except one time a few Great Whites showed up. Normally I guess sharks are there but they aren't an issue. I'm not a welder myself but being in the automotive industry, I know there's legit money to be made. It's one of those things you hear about but never consider until you start considering it. you can always learn on the field but it will take longer to learn since you wont have someone teaching you ...i say go to school...but if you can finesse learning on the job like i did go for it!
I've been welding for 36 years now. Over half the people I have came in contact with, went to a school to learn how to weld. A lot of them were not good welders. Watched alot of them get fired.
