Joe, you helped me tremendously. I couldn't have done it without you. I recently laid a 1,700 square foot floor in a 175yrs old building in upstate New York all alone. I used Pergo TimberCraft with Pergo underlayment. The main living space is roughly 30'× 10'. I had never put a single piece of flooring down. Not carpet, not tile, not laminate or linolium. I watched roughly 6hours or your videos before starting. Your 'tips and tricks' video was very helpful. I'm truly indebted to you for sharing your knowledge with the World. Thank you! I would love to share photos of my work with you.
These videos are awesome. What if your rooms are crooked. It seems like in every example (even in other videos) when you measure the length of the room, both lengths are always the same. B what if your room is out of square? How do you alter the measurements? Hope this makes sense.
I installed 1000 feet of vinyl plank in my daughter's house, and 1864 square feet of vinyl plank in my house. I watched Joe's videos before doing so, and my floors look amazing. No transitions in doorways, perfect alignment and proper spacing of all planks. I also used the tools Joe mentioned in his videos, including those adjustable spacers next to the walls (those are lifesavers), and saved a total in both houses of approx. $15,000 dollars in labor. Watch all his videos, and be prepared for some work. But when you're done, you'll be proud of your work, and you'll save a ton of money. Yes, you'll spend bucks on the best tools and such, but believe it: you'll save thousands.
I can not begin to thank you for all your help. I especially like your prayers. I just retired and since I'm home all day, my wife thought it would be great to remodel the house and put down all new floors. 😵💫 I've never done this before. But I do have about 100 hours of RUclips experience.😆I just got the carpet up in one room and got chalk lines all over the house. Already thinking about finding a contractor.
@@uploadtime1780 pretty good, I got about half the house done. The hall was really bad because the old bamboo floor had been glued down. Spent a week sanding and scraping it.
Awesome to watch a professional make complicated things look easy while others make easy things look complicated. Learn a lot from your videos. May god bless you.
I’m currently getting mentored by a Joe in his online course. It is absolutely fantastic. If you are thinking of a DIY install, you have to sign up. He is the best in the biz. Side note, Joe, come to my place and help with install and I’ll give you a weeks free physical therapy and pizza for that knee! 😂
Thank you Mike. This is going to help me so much. I have been trying to do this for many months now, alone (female). Lots of trial and error . I am close to finishing living area and hall and then next bedroom and bathroom.
Brilliant idea to make how-to video where you help someone rather than just a "show and lecture" type video. What is so great is that you point out where he does things "wrong", etc. - somehow this reinforces the concepts better than just a lecture-style video. Good idea, maybe do some more of these. I will try to lay some flooring myself. Thanks for sharing your expertise.
Joe ,you are a True gentleman! I just did yet another nice floor using your tricks of the Trade! I had not done Laminate in awhile,I have been putting vinyl plank down! I wanted something more substantial to cover over bathroom floor of old farmhouse my kids are buying! I used Pergo + Moisture Resistant laminate! It was the hardest floor ever to get seams locked up! I tried every trick drop locking ,sliding ,etc! I ended up starting butt ends then heavy tapping the long ends and butt ends both! It really took effort but did lock up tight with persuasion!
I'd like to do my downstairs floors on top of plywood subfloor which is uneven and unable to level I was thinking of usingLoose lay final flooring for the uneven floors what's your thoughts on loosely or do you know of a better product that's click lock method that will hold on wavy floor.
Thank you so much Joe for being so generous with your knowledge! This "play by play" install video with you coaching a DIY'er is definitely one of my favorites, Great teaching skills! I ordered some samples using your link, Im a few weeks out from going for my first install.
@@SoThatsHowYouDoThat Thanks for taking the time to respond. I did watch that video entirely. So if I understand correctly, you still screw the piece into the concrete same as wood? What about a thinner self leveling concrete? I'm afraid that will cause cracks in the self leveling long term no? Thanks
Joe, I'm about halfway through laying down 1400 sq ft of LVP in my home, doing seamless transitions between rooms. The tricks I've learned watching your videos have been invaluable. I'm using Shaw Floorte Hickory "hardwood" and it looks to be a bit harder to work with than the Flooret stuff. Sadly, I don't think Flooret has a presence in Canada yet. Thank you for your videos!
Absolutely great video again. Just ordered two of their sample kits and used your code! Their website claims that their Signature prices will be increasing October 1st 2024. Looks like they claim its waterproof, so I assume its can be used in a Bathroom or Kitchen? Thanks, and God Bless You and your Family!
Omg, I did (tried) to do my ground floor myself. I wish I would've seen this before I started. But I'm definitely going to go back & fix some things now. Thank you
Watched a few of your videos before I started doing 3 bedrooms & a hallway... I felt pretty good that we ( my 19 year daughter & I) could handle this.... Project came out great (wife is happy... that's my gauge on all projects)... again thanks
Perfect timing with this video. First time doing a vinyl plank flooring installation tomorrow morning. Now I feel a bit more confident. And I can look at the video if I get stuck. 😊 Thanks! ⭐
This was so helpful! Having to slow down and explain things to someone who's in our shoes and see them work through learning is really neat. At first some of the techniques are like "why would you do that" then it's an "ahah!" moment that it all comes together. Thank you for your help and in many ways ministry.
Hello, so I installed LVP in my living room and afterwards, I can tell by the way it feels when you step in certain areas that the subfloor is slightly uneven. There's a certain hollow feel to the step on just a few areas. Will this be a problem for me as the new floor gets walked upon? All the planks are installed correctly with adequate expansion spacing around the perimeter and there is no bulging or unlevel seams, but I'm now hoping that where the floor dips slightly, our planks won't break or damage.
I love your videos. I just did a bathroom with vinyl tile. I however am really regretting the use of the DAP Alex caulk you recommend. I am thinking I should have used silicone for a bathroom. Have you had any issues? I already see some cracking and shrinking in spots and I see some really bad reviews to use this in any water areas.
Guys you don't want ever joints to match or it can happen but after how many rows in between you must have ( different joints locations ) is reccomended or advised than you can repeat a joint location? ( plank same sizes )
What are your thoughts on mannington Adura max vs Flooret? I’ve install mannington several times, but it gets furniture dents pretty easily. I like the look of Flooret better, but I’ve never seen it in person. How do the two brands compare in your opinion
I'm going to be putting vinyl in my living room. It's mostly a rectangle but it has wide step down entry into the room so it isn't an even width the whole way across. How would I go about planning the room for even plank width on the final boards?
So That's How You Do It! I'm about to try installing LVP flooring in my master bath. My questions is how do the planks still lock together if you have to cut it length wise, like if the plank is too long? The tongue or groove is removed when it's cut so how does it still lock together?
Hello, brand new to this , was just curious why you choose your method of screwing down scrap pieces to hold the flooring in position instead of using spacers along the walls ?
Hi Joe, Joe here. I'm flooring a condo and have older LVP installed in kitchen and hall over original 1960s (asbestos) flooring. I would like to install Flooret flooring. I'm removing carpet from the living room and want the floor level throughout the front of the house. Is there something 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick I could glue down instead of using self leveling compound to match height with the old carpeted area? The floor material is 6" concrete on the second of four levels. Thanks! LVP first timer.
Joe I've been watching your fantastic videos, and now I'm ready to begin installing my own LVP. Question, on one of your videos you install guide pieces by hot melt gluing (on concrete) or screws (on wood). I'm installing padding, so first how do I get a good chalk-line, and second how do I install guide pieces on padding on top of concrete? Thanks!
Hi Joe…I appreciate your very helpful channel and I am a subscriber to it…..Question: I am building myself an office desk, 6 feet long or so, and want to cover the desk top with lock in vinyl planks or glue down vinyl planks, with finished wood designs…..Any suggestions or recommendations?….All recommendations are welcome…thanks!

No underlayment? Why? Does the plank have attached underlayment?
Some plank manufacturers require underlayment, some just recommend it, and others specifically forbid it, and its use will actually void the warranty.

Q, can I install a freestanding Tub on plank flooring? Should I seal the entire room?
Yes. Sealing is up to you. If you think it will get wet, seal it.
