- It’s been nearly 15 years since Glen Plake last appeared in a Warren Miller movie, but he’s still got the moves - and the hair - that made him so famous in his heyday of hot-dogging. Regarded as a pioneer of extreme skiing and inducted into the Ski Hall of Fame, Plake has been turning heads since the late 80s. Today, the Lake Tahoe skier is a certified level 3 ski instructor with PSIA. He shows off his teaching style and perfects his pillow line-dropping technique in Canada’s Monashee Mountains with fellow PSIA members.

Glen Plake and Scott Schmidt were my two all time hero's growing up. Still are my hero's today.
Glen is my role model in skiing. The ONLY thing that matters is never lose sight of the fun and joy!

I used to talk to Glenn Plake on an acquaintance level sometimes when I skied on the mogul tour back in the late 80's early 90's. He was definitely more reserved than his appearance would suggest. Dude definitely didn't wan't any part of the party seen that went down. Seemed like a very responsible person.
What a fun dude, I have an old wooden lift closed sign from a ski resort I was a liftie at and I have Glen Plake and Scot Schmidt's autograph on it, probably the coolest memorabilia I have from my radical days..
Growing up always loved Glen Plake... And always will!

Grew up skiing looking up at Glen.... Squaw, Tahoe...Not the money, The Joy!!! We have drifted off so far..... Scoty Schmidt.....Saw him at a Warren Miller Debout at the Santa Cruz Civic..... My friend Chris Grey. We rode dirt bikes with Scoty ...........This is when skiing was approachable......
Got to ski with Glen at Loveland ski area in October 2008, he was just a regular down to earth guy, his pre PSIA days.
I respect he got his PSIA certifications. Not a easy task.
