The kids are shocked because they didn't know he was a king and Demon Lord, even though they knew he was a strong slime. Tiss, however, didn't know he was a slime, a king or a Demon Lord. In the 3 OVAs that introduce her teaching the kids, the kids talk about what Rimuru taught them briefly, while mentioning that the enemies they fought would've been no problem for him. Tiss thinks to herself "Just what _is_ Rimuru?" Also she probably recognizes Diablo, who saved her in that OVA and swore her to secrecy over it, so she's processing a lot.

Tempest has a True Dragon, a Demon Lord, a Primordial Daemon, a Saint guest... and many other high-level individuals.
Millim was also invited, though she hasn't shown up yet.
That dragon was really no big deal by itself.
Considering that it's also the pet of a guest, I can see how Rimuru is so relaxed.

Millim did a one-shot on a Charybdis that was many times larger than her. She also blew the whole capital of the beastmen country. With the mountain behind it.
And before that, a tiny slime gobbled up a huge orc.
Power is not related to size and shape.
This is even more true for beings like True Dragons whose forms are not constrained. They are not really biological creatures but spiritual ones.
I don't know for sure that Veldora can one-shot the guardian dragon here, but he would definitely win in an all-out fight. Probably easily.
This is really the first time outside of a flashback of Fuze that the King of Blumund is featured in the anime .... when Rimuru first traveled to the human lands to find the children ... he stopped at Blumund and negotiated with them which resulted it their mutual defense treaty ... at the time Rimuru ended up being outplayed by the King and Baron in charge of diplomacy ... as everyone expected with Veldoras disappearance the Eastern Empire to try and attack the west through the forest ... and the Mutual Defense agreement would mean that Tempest would be oblidged to act as a shield for Blumund in that scenario ... noone expected Farmus to pull the stunt they pulled resulting in Blumund having to honor the treaty first
Even in this meeting the Royal couple leave an impresion on Rimuru:
seeing the kings ambitious nature ..... and the queens quick uptake ...
In Rimurus words:

The Barren Lands as an area exist because of Milims rampage and her 7days 7nights fight with Guy when she awakened as a Demon Lord .... the area was turned into a wasteland as a result ...
The female teacher Tiss is a manga invention ... and the anime expanded on the character in Ovas ... not in the main series ....
Regarding the fish no one not even Rimuru lookaed at it and though tasty ... he just run analysis for fun a the fish he caught during a fishing competition with Gobta before just throwing it back ... but the analysis resulted in him learning its basically tuna .... and the rest is as we see in the episode ...
Elmesias heroic aura has the same effect as Masayukis heroic aura ... on a lower level or lover grade being it intimidates and charms ... making them more likelly to just follow the Aura holders lead ... Gazel has this aura as well but to a lesser degree ... when Rimuru first saw Gazel back in S he felt this oppressive presence ... which was the result of the Dwarven Kings heroic Aura ...
For those that dont know ... Frey claws ca shut off skills of anyone they grasp .... well unless you are an awakened being and or have an ultimate .... so we are talking Luminous and above ... not even Hinata would be safe if she is caught without her spirit armor activated and even then its a toss up ... So basically the momet she grasped him ... all Carlions resistances and skill were gone ... that includes things like cancel pain and such .... unless you are a true demon lord dont mess with Frey ... and even then easier not to :D

Soma the ruins mentioned ... are the Capital of the Kingdom that tried to control Milim and killed her pet dragon and caused Milim to go on a rampage and become a Demon Lord ...
It was a super kingdoms of elves (well high elves but thats a bit further) ... survivors of that kingdom ended up founding 2 countries .... one is Sarion /Thalion...and Jistav ... the Pupet nations lead by Kazalim ....
Kazalim was actually royalty from the kingdom ... but was not involved in the attempt to control Milim ...

Of course, cooking just one dish at a time is still cooking, but you can't say you know how to cook if the only think you know how to do is spaghetti. Personally I understood it as directly confronting his view of food needing to be altered as little as possible, where she brought the analogy of people coming together (a singular dish) instead of being individual people alone (single ingredients), then several countries or cities coming together (multiple dishes).

1. Tensura needs to slow its pace down so the great arc will worth the wait.
2. Tensura needs more depth connection between each character and its background also its connection to Rimuru/Tempest Federation so we can see who's allies and who's not.
3. You will even appreciate the meetings in future arc (s4 and above)

Exactly, My Hero Academia spoilers: we're seeing that now in there. Everyone hated the school festival arc, but now what shit has hit the fan everyone is like "Man, remember when the biggest concern was putting a concert together?"
The funny thing is... There really isn't anything to complain about. I only see people complain about season 3's meeting, or "there's too many meetings in season 3! It was never like that!" while it's about the same ratio. Sure there were a lot of action scenes in seaon 1 and 2, but most of the seasons were meetings in one way or another. It's just that, now, there is a big flashy and recognisable room and they realise it more now...

As far as I know (anime and a few wiki searches), Rimuru is like 4 times immune to Masayuki's Chosen One.
Because most unique skills make their possessor immune to other unique skills' effects like mind control, and Rimuru was born with 2 of them.
Moreover, he now has 4 ultimate skills, and we know only an ultimate skill can beat another ultimate skill. Plus, Rimuru's skills count Raphael, an AI which can't be mind controled (because obviously) and Uriel, which is a very powerful defensive skill.
By any logic, if Rimuru wanted to, he could just annihilate Masayuki, who's build is just a human with max luck max crit.
So yeah, they clearly could discuss with no interference skill effect going on, just as two japanese dudes.

It almost looked like he was on his way to winning over Leon as well at Walpurgis. Kazalim/Kagali does have me intrigued. I had a "friend" like Yuuki he was soooooo evil too but no one believed it until he was caught in the act.

You're not wrong about the goal. Rimuru wants to showcase what the capital city of the JTF can offer the Western Nations and other neighboring nations. This dinner shows the level of its cuisine and the idea that there are things here that you cannot get anywhere else is appealing to a number of people. He wants to show the "monster nation" can have a level of civilization on par with nation out there.
Well, now that the party is starting things will get a bit more action. There *IS* a fighting competition comming up among other stuff after all ^^

And there are some times when they actually make me hungry just reading/hearing the character talk about their dishes.
I wouldn't pin Yuuki as bad, more like the protagonist of another story, that so happens to clash with Rimuru's, he's also more of a schemer, if Rimuru playing CIV 6 economic victory, Yuuki is playing for the political victory.
Tiss is the teacher left in charge of the kids after Rimuru left, we see more of her in the OVAs but in the anime she's in like 2 scenes
