I hate that they got rid of the rotomdex and kept the stupid, much less charismatic rotomphone. Also the fact the fearow line got cut pisses me off, i love that stupid bird.
I suppose that at first they meant for the sandwich mechanic to have an effect on the playable character itself, because there's a NPC in glaseado mountains saying how she ate spicy food to get warmer into the cold. That's the same stuff as BOTW
similar thing happened with the leaked swsh beta a few years ago--greninja and mega rayquaza were among the mons included. i can't believe people still defend dexit at this point
every switch game beta has had pokemon that wasn't in the final game. mega lucario was in the PLA beta, greninja was in SWSH beta, now nidoqueen in SV beta. it's just for testing and tragically not any indication for the final roster. that does mean that theres not much of a good reason not to include them, aside for making the game easier to balance, but even then there really is no excuse not to include them in like, DLC or updates or something. just have the limited roster in the initial release and then make all the rest of the pokemon come in the DLC. and if they're worried about competitive, just have the rules limit the roster.
@PatManDX tournaments with limited rosters would be perfectly ideal. Hell vgc always did them with regional pokedex limitations. There just isn't an excuse
They usually just put random Pokemon in for testing purposes, they probably weren't even functional or close to complete. In the XY beta's Pokemon were just 2D cutouts. In the SwSh beta Greninja was super bugged and still used the old textures and lightmaps from Sun and Moon. With every engine update they need to update quite a few other aspects before the Pokemon themselves actually function properly.
That beta menu looked really cool and fresh. I wondered why the Scarlet/Violet layout was so basic. They must've changed it because it made the game lag even more. Switch didn't do good to pokemon.
Not Nidoqueen and FEAROW being scrapped! Like why and can we see the models in game or not??? They could have made an evolution for the poor forgotten Fearow (and one for Tropius too but that's another story). T__T They also removed many trees and part of the vegetation...
Looks really close to the original concept art. Basically GameFreak nailed down the look they had in mind but couldn’t simply optimize it for the Switch. Switch 2 games are going to be great!
I mean the main thing with pokemon sc/vi is the code and how models are loaded are behind most other games, it's the developers fault far more then the hardware.
Based on the watermarks, was this build actually from April 2019? If so, that's crazy to me that they basically had the player's house up to the main city basically done well before Sword and Shield even released.
Yeah the Teraleak has revealed a bunch of stuff about release dates and it seems likely that they develop their games wayyyyy in advance. IIRC a good portion of Pokemon X was done before BW2 had released. Weird to think that gen 10 probably has a playable demo rn
lowkey the overworld looks much better than the final game, you can see that they can make a game that looks good but the hard part is optimizing it so it can run on the switch with solid fps
Guys this is running in an emulator. Without a direct comparison of SV on this guys machine, theres no point commenting on its performance. Even the most optimised games will run poorly on a low end device.
What year is this Beta phase, 2019 or another date? Still, this game was badly made from the start. It was always glitchy and it still is. Graphics are all the same in the final game as the Beta past Cabo Poco. Overall, Game Freak was terrible in making this game, and they should stop making so many projects by themselves at the same time.
Hilarious that the zelda team can take 6-7 years of dev time and have a massive fucking open world map with multiple areas that load with almost no issues, yet GameFreak can't do that with their pokemon games. It's almost as if they need to take MORE THAN TWO YEARS to work on their games. Sadly they're too stupid to get out of their damn "one game every 2 years" contract.
Jokes on you but I really think that changes between this beta and final release’ performance is minor. They had 3 years and changed nothing about optimisation and that’s a shame.
actually, what fascinates me is that this was an early 2019 beta. early 2019. and it looks the same as the released product. they had time to fix everything and didn't do so much as make an attempt. can we drop the whole "it was crunched out in a year" narrative and just accept that this is a competency issue at the hands of management that don't know what the hell they're doing?
That isn't the build date, the watermark date is from the generated license file that has it set to 2019 for whatever reason. The actual build date is June 1st, 2021. Please do actual research instead of just assuming stuff and stating it as fact.
