- Let the accessories define the look. The clothes are a blank canvas for you to express and set yourself apart by way of the way you style it. It's all about what you bring to the table.

accessories are everything! they can really dress up an outfit, especially if you got a dress on sale from your local fast fashion outlet.
So true! Something super plain can turn out to be the perfect canvas for something amazing.
I once heard a goth at my highschool say "I hate it when people wear blacks that don't match!"
It took me a minute to figure that out, but she was right. I had blacks with so many undertones and they didn't look good together. I could have dyed them and fixed it, but I was 14 and just switched to attempting grunge instead, lol. Don't do what I did, let the goth run through you, buy some rit or something.
I feel her lmao, ive always hated blacls that didn't match 😭 that's why half my wardrobe is velvet or something similar though, it's always superrr black
One of my fav dresses I have is a black uniqlo t-shirt dress that I got second hand for like, 15 bucks. It's solid quality construction, and I can get soooo many looks out of this thing depending on what shoes I wear and what I acessorize it with.
Isn't it crazy how an inexpensive thrifted item can become your one holy grail piece?
I do this all the time. Even though recently I’ve lost 37 pounds and will be losing more, goth clothing is not available in plus size really so if you’re plus size you need to do this to dress goth at all. But I also found this way saves money and let’s you have a big wardrobe that you can wear in normie things like work but with accessories become goth. To be honest, I’d rather have normal clothes with a lot of accessories and have a lot more outfits with a lot less money than one fancy goth item that I can have limited wear with.
Also sewing really does help!
The original 80s Goths were pretty broke, coming from the tattered coattails of the Punk scene, they made the best of what they had and vintage shops were the base for any fashion. We need to go back to our roots and modify clothing. There's so much we can do. Especially in this economy, innovation reigns supreme.
I agree! DIY skills are so important. There are tons of no sew crafts but learning basic sewing skills can be life changing. You can get that one item in the thrift store you love but it's either too big or needs some repairs since you have the skills to fix it.
A lot of us never left those roots! But unfortunately most newer goths have would rather put in no effort and buy things that are premade, or they're made to think that they *have* to in order to be goth
Having basics also allows you to dress it down when the situation calls for it. Like if you need to look more toned down for work or for a family gathering, a funeral, etc. It's still your normal clothes so you don't feel like an impostor, but just plainer, with fewer bells and whistles.
Yesyesyes, Thank you so much Angela! Whenever I shop or go to a thrift store, I just keep in mind anything black is workable as long as I have my necklaces and belts. These tips add so much, they are a game changer ❤
Accessories are a game changer!
@@angelabenedict absolutely! Btw, you are a fairy gothmother to me, I appreciate you so much🖤🖤🖤
your eyeshadow is so pigmented i am obsessed
Thank you! It's Morphe.
@@angelabenedictwhat shade? 👀
One of the great things about this is that a lot of accessories are SO easy to make and much more affordable than clothing. I was rocking all sorts of necklaces in high school that were the same handful of chains with different pendants that were all charms from Hobby Lobby. One chain with three interchangeable pendants is three necklaces, and even better if the chain is very adjustable so you can do something long or short.
Depends on where you live 😅 We don't have craft stores in my area. Buying online is an option, but I'm scared of the quality.
love this video! when it comes to goth i think styling something simple and dressing it up (ripped tights, rosaries, belts, etc) adds so much versatility to your wardrobe esp if you're on a budget
Yes! Thank you! Tights are pretty cheap on amazon or fast fashion sites. Some thrift stores even sell ones that were donated in the packet -- If you just stock up on a handful of them - you got an outfit for a week.
You are an original Mistress always be yourself! fabulous style & fashion show🔥💄🦇🖤
Why, thank you!
🙏🦇@@angelabenedict
Really - I've never understood that it's the same dress on you.
You look great as always.
Those belts 😍
love this video ! some of my favourite outfits are made up of a basic black thrifted dress and accessories .In the 80's we did this all the time as it was all we had, have gone back to my roots and feel more individual 💜🖤
It's a fun process. Hunting through rocks at thrift stores, the whole act of putting an entire look together - Even though we have a lot more at our disposal today, nothing beats that thrill of the hunt.
This is SO important to know how to do!
Thanks for this Angela and if anyone wants a similar video for tops and leggings, I have one on my channel called 'Style Collab with Morrigan Raven - How to Goth up the basics in your wardrobe'.
Thank you! I think A lot of people get overwhelmed by the concept of sewing or DIY. Sometimes we can psych ourselves out and convince ourselves that it's much harder than it actually is. I was like that with sewing machines for years. Once you get a basic stitch down, it opens the door to so much more. It's just convincing people that it's really not that hard.
I have a few dresses and a couple of skirts, (all but 3 are thrifted) and some tops and sweaters and accessories and the outfit options seem endless, less is sometimes more creatively speaking! also your eye shadow is spectacular and I love the contrast with your lip color!
A really nice job & so very true accessories will make or break an outfit.
JUST the video I've been looking for lol!! Thank YOU
Glad I could help!
Loved the looks you created. And you got awesome accessories.
Stay safe gorgeous Angela 🦇🖤🖤🖤🖤🦇
Thank you so much!! You stay safe as well. 🖤🖤🖤
Goth capsual wardrobe ❤❤❤
It's nice to have this occasional shorter video. I don't have to wait until I know I have a good chunk of time to myself to watch.
I recently discovered visible mending. I like how it looks and it saves me money.
Thanks for your videos ☺️☺️
My pleasure 😊

Hi there Angela! Also, if you learn how to stitch, you can stitch snaps to the collar of the dress and sew snaps that match the collar snaps onto many other shapes and styles of collars to get different neckline looks like ruffles, trim, metal decorated collars etc. The snaps come in all sizes so you can use the size you need for holding strength to the collar. You can do the same thing with the end of the sleeves adding different styles of sleeves. Thank you for this fantastic video!
Thanks for the tips! Collars are another really cool way to change up a look. I love those metal collar tips as well.
I love the way you style your clothes! Thanks for the tip
You're welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it 🖤🖤🖤
I always appreciate and enjoy all of your tried & true tips and also I love learning stuff / hearing experiences from so many people in the comments ❤🖤 very cool.
Thank you! I'll try to keep the info videos coming. The comments are a great source of inspo as well.
Cheekbone Angela..once again with another fun update👍
Style. Class. Goth Goth
YOu are like the cool ollder sister I wish I always had.....
That was amazing 😊. You are so good at accessories, and I really wouldn’t have known it was the same dress in each outfit. Even though I have a good amount of things, I haven’t been that good at changing up how they look. Great tips 💜🦇
Fantastic idea! I definitely need more basics to do this with. Accessories are everything.
Thank you. Your channel is a must.❤🖤
It's really sweet of you to say! 🖤🖤🖤
I'm in love ❤
The core of my back in the day club wear was a mesh top and a gauzy black skirt with a white one layered underneath. Nothing cost full price, I could vary it up, and was my own. (also how did I forget religious s3x?! Well, aside from the fact that they never carried clothes I could fit into...)
It's all about the layers. A lot of people had that core piece that they'd build upon and it was like watching art being made with endless possibilities. Religious Sex - Holy Grail of goth wear.
@@angelabenedict I am so glad the day is here now where I can find good stuff that actually fits my body and my femme side.
You look fantastic!!! 👍👍👍👍
Thank you!! 🖤🖤🖤
I’m very short so sometimes I can wear a maxi skirt like a dress lol
Your genetically frugal!
Yassss. Such a good video 🦇❤️
ooooo I have been needing a good black dye brand, thank you for the tip!
You're welcome!
I am a goth with money but I love saving it.
That's awesome. Sadly, not everyone is that lucky. Whatever the situation may be, just remember - saving money is great but we're all one crisis away from financial ruin so it's good to be humble and sympathetic to others situations. Flaunting wealth is tacky.
@@angelabenedict Well, I was a starving artist for many, many years but I worked hard and smart to accumulate so it was not a matter of luck. I would never flaunt what I have which is not much compared to many of the people I have been around but I would recommend people change their circumstances for the better and be smart even once they have some disposable income. Being stupid with money is tacky.
Does anyone use the laundry detergent for dark clothes? I did and I think it has a dye in it. I rubbed off on lighter items.
I sometimes do depending, but if I'm really trying to prolong the life of something - They have gentle detergents for dark colors. It's less abrasive.
I can't believe I'm so early
Edit!!! You cheated!!! You couldn’t resist the bell sleeves either huah huahhh huahhhhh 🤣. Yup I call it casual cripple 🤣🖤🤘🦇. Amount of times in my baba bay sprout days someone would ask me on casual day “I love it where did you get it?” My answer “charity shop and customised it” an the look of fuck sake priceless every time 🤣.
I didn't cheat. That's the same dress throughout the entire video. I just put a bell sleeve top over it. It's one of the accessories I paired it with. All six looks you see, I'm wearing the same exact dress that I was at the very beginning. If you look at the dress in the center of the video that's the dress that I started with and the ones on the outside or what I did to accessorize it.
Your so so beautiful 😩🖤🥀🌙
Thank you!!
@@angelabenedict 🖤my heart melts
👍🖤💜🖤
Love you ❤
First
You are!
You’re dedicated to the Gothic style or at least want to be. 🖤
I love your video right away you started talking about how using one really great piece and utilizing it in different ways and also some of the pieces are really overpriced and I think that is completely not more gothic is to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on some thing just because it’s a name brand that kills lol
