- Jazz version I made of Protoman's Blues/End Credits from Megaman 3. Hearing that track always made me wonder how a noir jazz version would sound like, so I decided to make an arrangement for it myself.

So when I heard that Wily's boy keepin' the squeeze on the power grid, Eric Leckman, was found with his bodyguards, dead in an alleyway?
Let me tell 'ya. I'd recognize the kid's handywork anywhere. 'Course I would--I taught him t'shoot, didn't I?
Rosaline's sick with worry. Always looked up to our bother, like he was her knight in shinin' armor. She's a good kid, takes after 'im. Pure as platinum. But she ain't seen that steel. She ain't seen 'im with his knuckles worn down, blood in his mouth, eyes swollen shut an' a fat lip. Never seen him beat t'shit and still standin', still movin' forward.
I stop by Eddie's, have a couple'a th'special cocktails. Give's 'ya energy an' hits like a tank. I try to light a cigarette, but my lungs ain't been so hot lately. And that ain't something a few 'energy tanks' can stop. My aim's as steady as she's always been, but I ain't much longer for this world. Still...I don't plan on buyin' the farm 'til I see my kid brother bring it all--this corrupt city an' the snakes that own it--crashin' down."
Bro…not gon lie a 1940’s styled mega man game would sound sick.

"Something happened to my brother... A kid like him doesn't just skip town like that. Something, or some one got to Rock Light, and I plan on figuring out just what exactly happened. But even I can't do this one alone, not this time...
I head up to the northern section of the city to meet up with an old friend. Someone I used to work with back when I was working for Don Wily myself... I regret those times, but they gave me just the connections I need for this case. In this case, I'm visiting Samuel Adder. He's a real snake of a man, as cold blooded as they come. But, him and his ‘search snakes’ are just what I need to help find rock. But a man like him, he doesn't do this kinda stuff for free, there's always a price with him.... Thankfully, I was able to scrape together a hefty amount of screws to hopefully win him over, with a little help from some close friends and family concerned for Rock's safety.
As soon as I entered Samuel's office, it looked like he was expecting me, smiling ear to ear. He mentioned how long it's been since we've seen each other, asking how I've been. I told him I was here on business, tossing the bag of screws onto his desk. I told him what was known so far. About rock missing, about how he supposedly skipped town with some rock band. I asked him if he knew anything or if he has anything that could help. He simply counted the amount of screws on his desk, before storing them away and pulling out a file, filled with photos. Mentioned his search snakes took em a couple days ago. Id open the folder, examining each photo, every little detail I could find in the moment. It was just as I thought, rock never left town.... Poor kid was taken...
I asked if there was anything else he could show me. To my surprise, he tossed the bag of screws back at me, telling me that was everything he had. He told me that he doesn't need money for this one, that he just hopes the kid is ok. Samuel and the others that used to work for Wily had respect for Rock. The kid did help them out when they quit working for him, he said this was the least he could do to repay the kid. Id smile a bit, watching as this snake showed that he had his soft spots, that he wasn't all cold blooded. I thanked him, turning around to head out, but not before he got up and stopped me. He told me to make sure that boy is safe and sound, and if he isn't.... To give whoever got the poor kid hell. I could hear the venom in his voice, he seemed serious about this. I simply nodded, heading out with the file and to hopefully get one step closer to finding my brother...."
I keep imagining Protoman ordering a glass of E-Tank in a bar with this music.
This feels like it would be the theme for the newer Archie comics Protoman. Man, I wish that series was still ongoing, it was starting to get really good with the whole Protoman arc.
Sadly Archie go bankrupt and many series we're cancelled, like Archie Sonic that got rebooted to then shortly being cancelled
I’m sorry for sounding like an idiot, but couldn’t another comic company pick it back up? I know Ian Flynn wrote for them, and now he does sonic stories at IDW, couldn’t they pick it up where it left off? Again, I’m not a bright guy, so many it’s stupid to ask

Wonderful encapsulation of the Prototype Blues: free-willing, melancholy, meditative, and utterly fulfilling of Blues' character. What a magnificent piece, my friend.

How'd I not come across this before now? Protoman's theme always had sort of a melancholic edge to it and this is really quite nice.

After everything Protoman has been through, I feel like this would be the way he would feel if weren't able to return to Dr.Light and Megaman.
I always thought such a jazzy touch would fit Protoman's theme perfect.

It isn't sad, but melancholic. As having a malfunctioning core, while feel betrayed by your father figure and someone who said would help you, only to let you down again. Protoman. Blues. Regardless the name, the only thing certain is the closing end in the corner. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I wish we got a stage with this as the theme in some capacity with Proto as the main theme/boss instead of just his riff and the short encounters we get. great arrangement btw :).
I had played many Commodore, Atari, and NES games before. I enjoyed the music of the Marios and Final Fantasys and such.
But 7 year old me would play and beat Megaman 3 JUST to hear the long version of this song at the end credits. It's the first time i can remember doing something like that.

That's awesome to hear, hearing the full version of the theme is a great reward for beating the game in the days before you could listen to at anytime you want it on the internet.

I got the Mega Man Anniversary Collection on the PS2 for my birthday in 2005. Beat Mega Man 3 on that in about 1-2 months. This harkens back to playing that as a 22-year-old gamer then. Ah, nostalgia. Well done, Sebastien. Well done.

Of course the original composition was envisioned as blues, just not possible with the technology at the time^^ This makes me want a Rockman game where they redo this track with the proper genre.
