    George Shearing a true genius esp. with arrangement. What a Pianist he just kicks it. My Favorite Shearing was him working with Nancy Wilson on the Capital Lp. Hello Young Lovers. Great ost.

    This is my favorite version of this standard, very well-played by its author, with kind of an Erroll-like left hand :)

      Errol Garner played a little more syncopical( is this good English ?). I hope you will understand what I mean, by the way I' am dutch.

      Many jazz pianists "comp "on occasion with the left hand. This is very distinct from Garner who had a more hypnotic style.

    An outstanding immitation of the way Errol Garner used to play!!

    • @keithhorner1671

      no it.s how George played. Occasionally, at a concert, he would deliberately introduce himself as Garner and then play just like him. Dudley Moore also did that.

    After hearing this I can't understand why all bass players don't throw away their electric bass guitars and learn to play the real upright basses. The electrics just cannot compare.

    • @helenweedon7716
      @helenweedon7716 8 лет назад

      +JOHN MENUIS I have friends who play both, easy to swap since they are both tuned in fourths. They tend to decide which would sound better for the type of music they are playing plus of course even a jazz sized bass (orchestra basses are even bigger) need a good sized car to transport them around in!

    • @VANEPS7
      @VANEPS7 8 лет назад +1

      I agree. Transporting an electric bass is much easier. However I just can't imagine backing Shearing with an electric. It would be like replacing a concert piano with a radioshack keyboard. I doubt that a true classical pianist would want to trade.

      Not necessarly, I've taken my double-bass in a Toyota Corolla Sedan (in the passenger seat) *and* it wore the seat-belt!

    • @oscarandgroucho

      With today's digital electronics, I've never figured out why somebody hasn't invented an electric fretless bass guitar that sounds like an acoustic upright bass. Same reason, I guess, why my Yamaha keyboard can't sound like a Yamaha grand.

    • @TheRedstonedeluxe

      For most traditional jazz I completely agree. However, electric bass still has its place.
