Conan seems like a very genuinely nice person. On his last ep before he left The Tonight Show, he said, whle tears were coming down his face "All I ask is one thing, and I'm asking this particularly of young people that watch: Please do not be cynical. I hate cynicism. For the record, it's my least favorite quality - it doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen. I'm telling you, amazing things will happen." I still tear up sometimes when I read that quote.
@@yourmother3207 Although NBC should be given credit for keeping him on board and actually taking his advice seriously. He was one very powerful man in the network.
RIP Rick Ludwin. A great champion of great comedy. In the Seinfeld extras, Rick's support for Seinfeld is covered in more detail. He took a budgetary burden on his shoulders because his belief in the show was so strong. There's absolutely no doubt that if it wasn't for Rick Ludwin, Seinfeld wouldn't have had the chance to continue, much less occupy the place it does in the cultural landscape.
Indeed. He gave up two hours of his TV specials budget so that Seinfeld would have the money to make four episodes. Those four episodes (along with the pilot) became Seinfeld's first season. Without him, Seinfeld may literally never have existed.
Seinfeld is one of the way I learn and understand English. I could enjoy English jokes and talk show etc. Subsequently improve my confidence, got scholarship for my education. I guess i have to thanks Rick also.
Conan has such deep humanity; if he respects someone, you know they are a thoroughly decent person. PS: I actually remember that clip; it stuck in my head. Thanks for backing these great shows Rick!
Ty Nao It's kinda funny how much you hate white people considering there are certainly white scientists who created some of the vaccines and medicine that's helping you today. 😂 And any kind of person can be shitty regardless of their background. You'd probably live a little easier not generalizing people by their race lol. That kind of mentality is too close to a racist's.
Thank you, Mr. Rick Ludwin. 1990s pop culture would not be what it is seen as today if not for 'Seinfeld' and for Conan, so thank you sir for all you did to keep both on the air. Many people have said you were one of the good ones, so thank you and may you rest in love. 💙
90s popculture was just a bunch of overpaid rich white people running around. It was racist and discriminatory, we are all glad its over now and the white race is dying off
I remember seeing him on the Seinfeld dvds, he's the hero who fought to keep the show on air. Rest in peace, thoughts are with his family and friends. 🌹
Wow, Rick was a visionary. Especially when a lot of executives suffer under group think. He saved two amazing shows and gave them room to blossom. Thanks so much brother
I have always felt like Conan was simply one of us with his own talk show. Conan, when you hurt, we all hurt. My condolences and Prayers for all affected.
Conan has shown over and over that he is a really decent human being. Many act that way and create a public persona but he goes out of his way for others and you see it is coming from a genuine place.
RIP Rick & thank YOU for your contributions to TV it just shows sometimes people you never heard of till they die (like myself unfortunately);that they made a big difference 😢🙌🎉💚
Seinfeld is my favourite show of all time and Conan is my favourite talk show host of all time, wouldn't have been the same without them. Rest in peace Rick! ❤
Rest In Peace Mr. Ludwig. I never knew this. I got slightly emotional because i can’t imagine not being able to watch a Conan video on RUclips whenever I feel down. Hella props to that man sticking up for the homie Conan. This channel legit keeps me from vent alone with my thoughts. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🙏🏽
A very honorable and tasteful tribute, Conan. Well done. My thoughts and prayers are w/ Mr. Ludwin's loved ones and associates. Thank you for giving great shows a chance when no one else believed in them. Rest in Peace, Rick Ludwin.
Rick and I were classmates at Rocky River High School (suburb of Cleveland, OH) and at Miami University (Oxford, OH). He was, and continued to be during his adult life, a really down-to-earth fellow with a genuine caring and respect for others. His fascination with the entertainment industry was evident in high school. His contributions to the TV industry are legend. We at RRHS celebrated our 50th reunion three years ago. He was just one of the guys as he socialized with everyone. Unless someone told you who he was, you would never guess that he had made such a profound difference in so many lives and careers.
Rick fought to keep my heroes on the air. For that, I'll always consider Rick one of my heroes as well. Thank you for everything you've done, Rick. Rest in peace.
Whoa, he saved Conan's show and Seinfeld... Taking into account how big Seinfeld was and how much other sitcoms borrowed from it in the following years, I would dare to say this guy basically shaped the last 30 years of late night tv. And he did a fantastic job, may he rest in peace.
How is is possible to love and respect Conan anymore than we as his fans already do?? RIP Mr Ludwin for looking out for one of the true talents of TV!!
Thank you Rick. You obviously had a huge impact on two now legendary comics. Thank you for saving two of the greatest shows ever. Kudos to Conan also for recognizing this.
This. This is what makes Conan the greatest American late night talk show host; he's completely genuine. Every time a friend of the show passes away he takes the time to remember them. I even remember when Robin Williams passed away, HE MADE TIME to acknowledge his passing despite the fact it was the end of the show and he could've easily covered it the next day... combined with the sense of Community he fosters and of course, the lawlz, Conan is truly a rare gem on the late night show scene
This is very nice. Conan thanked Rick at the end of his run on "Late Night" too - mentioning that he liked Conan's show when nobody else did and when liking the show did not make him popular among his colleagues. Rare that someone in show business sticks to his principles like that. RIP, Mr. Ludwin.
Wow! Takes a big man to give so much credit to others for their success. Kudos to Conan, and to Seinfeld. And hats off to Conan for taking the time during a comedy show to address a serious and somber topic. I bet that's a huge comfort to Rick Ludwin's family.
How does Conan do it....when he does these bits it's just the right tone and authentic emotion without being cheesy. Doesn't seem like something to score brownie points or get more fans. Which is what many shows seem like. This was genuine. Rip in Rick.
Rick Ludwin is and should be considered a legend television executive. He was apart of that brilliant team led by brandon tartikoff at NBC in the 1980's that took so many risks and had so many wondeful success's. Its so awesome Conan had the class and manners to honor his friend and former collegue with such poignancy. RIP RIck Ludwin.
Bless him the guy helped us have one of the best sitcoms ever seinfeld And legends like carson, letterman and even conan worked him with him Rip he must have been a great guy
So glad this dude fought to keep these 2 spectacular shows. His fight had a HUGE impression on my life through those shows. Makes me wonder just how many people I've never/heard of that have impacted my life in ways I'll never even know, how they did & who they even were.
Sorry for you loss, Conan. Always remember that the good friends won't die, always live in our hearts. Don't feel bad. I love you so much... People around the world love you. Sending love for you, from Brazil
One more reason to love Conan. He remembers who helped him along the way and is grateful.
