This dude really does march to the beat of his own drum. He is brutally honest, unapologetic, and very insightful, all in one. He plays tennis as if it was a chess game with pure talent and intelligence. Meddy is the real deal!
Agreed. He got quite well outplayed in the first 2 sets so to be able to turn that round and change the momentum is extremely impressive and is something that most players can’t do.
What a match! One point from going home and Meddie managed to turn it around. Love this guy with his strategic smarts and his wit and willingness to fight for the last point. He is one of the greats on hardcourt for sure and love how he doesn't need his coach for constant strategy advice mid-match.
I don't know why but this guy just makes me want to give him a hug. He is so genuine and honest and you can see he is a good guy that fights his own demons. I started watching tennis last year and honestly I didn't like him that much but now I love him 🥰
as a Russian guy i'm really proud of listening Daniil's English. Most of us talking english with famous russian accent (Rublev is the best example in ATP tour 😆). Meddy is example of tennis intelligence
@@vivahernando1 yeah, I know it, but Danniil can talk Russian without accent also, so 50/50. It's just a pleasure to hear good English, especially from our russian comrades 😅
as a Russian I still hear a lot of famous russian accent in Medvedev speech. And honestly I don't understand why so many people have it. English is so basic. I learned it in school and never had this "80's movie accent"😂
@@MrGenexxx "English is so basic" - As opposed to what? the greatest and the richest of the languages in the world, the mighty Russian? lol English is indeed somewhat easier to learn then some languages, but pronunciation is quite difficult to master. It is definitely not only the famous russians who struggles, many ordinary russians (and other nationalities) I worked with had a very thick accent even after years in an English speaking country. I do believe it is a lack of effort on their side, but Medvedev speaks well enough to give stellar interviews, that's for sure.
I was at both the medvedev vs hurkacz match as well as this one vs zverev, I always liked him but he's now my favourite player by a longshot. the level of entertainment he provides on top of the fight he shows in these 5 setters is just. wow. thank you for making my only chance at seeing a grand slam such a memorable one meddy
He's perfect example of completely different personality on court and after matches... it's really possible to even don't like him during a competition, but later... at time of after match interview he turns out to be a great, humble and honest person. I really enjoy to listen all of his interviews and there is always something wise to listen.
yep, totally different person. During the match he will use every tactic he can including distracting the opponent etc. But after the match he just seems a very chill guy, win or lose
What a comeback today, what a mental strength! Also, I love how conscious Daniil is about himself and how he wants to improve and get better and better, truly admirable ❤
I love watching this man's press conferences! Smart, witty, and just really entertaining! You can tell he's enjoying his tennis more after a subpar year last year and is just more at ease with everything. Love both finalists and hoping for a good final.
Как же приятно наблюдать, каким зрелым человеком и игроком становится Даня! Спасибо за этот незабываемый полуфинал и удачи в финале, у Дани есть всё, чтобы обыграть Янника!
That's an absolute classic from Daniil! That's how it goes and what mentality should the greatest have. Just play whatever it is and grind it. No matter what happens around. He really lvled up mentally and psychologically speaking. Great match on Sunday for sure, both players🔥🚒
He is confident and honest but also there’s an air of humility in his approach. I really like how he describes the strategy behind his game and is happy to share his thought process. I hope he wins this slam and many more. Something tells me way into the future, he would also be a brilliant commentator with some unique insights
I told family when Meddie was outside of top 20 that this guy is going to the top..Really like his game. Of course not against Nadal at US open, but still one of my favorites..
It's a tough toss-up between Sinner and Meddy. Medvedev has this aura about him which intimidates opponents into thinking that he will never give up, making them choke in key moments, like Sascha did today. If Sinner overcomes that in the final, he can definitely win, even if in 4 or 5 sets.
Jannik just beat NOvak. Danil is not going to scare him. He should also be better rested. I'd put my money on him. But I love them both. Should be a great match.
@@joemarshall4226 I love Sinner as a player. Very good personality as well, from what we can see. He played a superb match today, but I really feel like the Novak of today was not like the Novak just a few months earlier. He played sub-par almost the entire tournament. May be age is catching up. I don't know know who to root for on Sunday. I have a newfound love for Sinner, but Meddy is my man. Both have been through traumatic losses in GS. Meddy in 5 GS finals lost against eithef Rafa or Djokovic, especially AO 2022, was a heartbreaking loss for him, I am so proud he overcame it and came back stronger. And Sinner 5 setter loss against Carlitos in USO 2022, and Wimbledon 2022 against Djoko. Both deserve to win on Sunday. It will be a great day for tennis, that is for sure.
I love the guy. Always very candid and introspective + a natural born warrior. That being said, he comments how he wants to be better on the court, something that should be applauded and yet he made a whole ordeal about seeing the replay at 6-5 in the 4th, when he knew it was completely pointless. I guess Rome wasn't built in one day, but it was somewhat curious the journalist didn't ask him about that. Would have loved to hear the answer.
Despite his insight, efforts & introspection, he’s human. Can’t be perfect. He had a moment there. A very minor one too. Picking on people too much, to every last detail of their behaviours can feel to them like they’re being ripped through. So, it’s great that no one asked him that. He’s trying, he’s succeeded so much, so to pick on that would be a real mean thing to do. Not saying that you were mean or anything though 😅🙂. Just saying in general.
Medvedev is my favourite player. although he does have a temper. His style and swings are not like an orthodox tennis player and appears to be awkward and slow but effective, probably because he is so tall. He articulates his strategies and tactics beautifully and honestly. He is a bit like the movie star James Steward. He has lost two Australian Open final and one US Open final. Hope it is time for him this year (2024).
