Your knife technique is wonderful. I'm learning a ton just watching you.
Watching you carve is hypnotic
Love your stuff Doug. Keep up the good work.
Thank you Doug. The sound of a sharp knife thru wood is hypnotic.
I enjoyed watching this, I like that all your pieces do not include truly fierce faces. The guillotine looks like a good time saver.
Birdy
Thanks Doug I really enjoyed this video! 👍👍👍🤩🤩🤩💯💯💯
One of your best videos! Thanks!
Linker, what on earth is wrong with you???😅😅😅😅😅these are wonderfully creative, funny, & I wish I carved. I just watch your videos because they are joyful to this ole Texas old lady. Just love em. God bless y'all
I found hat very relaxing to watch and enjoyed seeing the out come of the block of wood. Thanks for sharing.
Cute but not cuddly. Love them. Thanks for sharing. ❤
So beautiful 👏👏
I thought your carved gourds at first, such an amazing paint job!

Out of the PARK, Doug! Thanks for sharing your talents. ❤
They look so real.
Ohhh, they are so cute! Just love them all!!!😮
I really enjoyed this.
I did not grow any gourds this year in the garden and I am sad. Garden did great, but I wish I grew some gourds for bird houses. Great idea on carving some 😊
Great video again. Thank you
Nice easy carve, just whatI need now that fall beginning here. Thanks Doug!
Ever consider making a series, all numbered, with the knife you used, plus a teach CD. And auction it off online? You'd be surprised how valued your work is.
Nicely done!! It's pretty cool looking.
🇺🇸🇺🇸🪓🔪👍👍
Very cool, thank you.
You should make these with a mischievous smirk and call them "SASS-SQUASH" 😂
love this one.
The “snot trough” has returned!!!!
That is a nice decoration Doug. It looked like a fun and quick project. Take care!
Love the kindling splitter use.. 2 thumbs UP

Thanks Gene!
Nice
That is a good one and you know I was able to see much better on this what you were doing to the eyes. Sometimes it is hard on the small ones to see exactly what you are doing. So this is great and bonus a good eye tutorial
You’re a creative dude, always enjoyable.
Gourd they're good💚🇬🇧🌱
Miss your ramblings tho Mr Linker 💚🇬🇧🌱
Hey Doug, can you make more tutorials for Halloween carvings? I just moved into a new flat and I could use some seasonal decorations.
Check out his back catalogue of Halloween tutorials there are a few to choose from💚🇬🇧🌱
@@marca5883 the only tutorials I found were for the pumpkin and the pumpkin scarecrow/snowman guy. I'm making the former now but some other monsters would be neat.
Look at Mr. Linker doing himself some ASMR. Guess you can teach an old dog new tricks. Haha.
I have a whole playlist of silent videos lol
Unik 👍👍❤️❤️
Can you do a shop tour since you moved the the basement? Advice about set up and benches,
That big blade at the start I seen those in Holland eh!😂🙌🇬🇧
Gotta make those shoes somehow
@@dougLinker I love you and Alec LaCasse sir! I’m a old timer who loves coffee and carving😂👍
Thank you for all your videos, I carve when my wife shops now!😂🙌🇬🇧
Hello where did you get your cloggers knife? Enjoyed the video. Thanks for all you do.
What size block did you start with?
Love this one Doug! It was a great project for a silent video. I hit ‘like’ and I think it may have registered a thumbs down SORRY! I literally have no thumb prints left-can be a problem at times UURGH
Hmm -I’m gonna pretend all the haters did the same thing lol
👍🏻👍🏻
Where do you get that cool knife you trimmed the block down with!
Ukraine -i have a video on the channel
What is the name of the huge blade you made the initial cut with? The one that looks like a paper trimmer at
0:19 ?
It’s a cloggers/stock knife -i have a video on it way back
Doug, can I ask which gouges you used there?
Edit: sorry, I forgot to mention how good the video was and how perfect the outcome. As always! Inspired, I just finished a face carved into a stick based on the ones you showed at the beginning of your last video. It was a bit rough, but my daughter loved it!
Just a mini Pfeil set -to get the ridges i used a 10mm #7 and under the lip was a 10mm #9 and a 5mm 9 for the bags under eyes
@@dougLinker thanks Doug, much appreciated
Doug is there a way to email you ? I love your work but was wondering if I could ask some questions to about carving I am a new carver and just trying to get some advice and was told you be the best to ask
What was the tool you used that looks like paper cutter
It’s a cloggers/stock knife
What is that "wood shear" tool at ~35 seconds called?
Cloggers/stock knife
@@dougLinker Thank you!
@ 12:56 did anyone else suck in their breath?!!!
Sorry Doug not a fan of the Silent Hand the Hand needs to talk 80% of your tutorials is the what, why, and the how much and I just don't get that from the Hand......P.S Great video again...Be well and be safe.....
That’s fine -can’t please everyone and will continue to mix them up …but in the future if it says silent in the title it’s gonna be silent lol
Man I see you hitting your thumb with that blade how are you not cutting your thumb??? I asked this question all the time nobody ever answers me.
it never touches
The thumb is always below the angle of the cut, so if it slips, the point of the blade will go past the thumb. The blade itself might brush the finger but not the sharp bit! The camera might make it look otherwise of course.
Good thumb positioning is a must when carving! It's generally why I don't wear a glove when carving (and I'm nowhere near Doug's level), because I find it leads to me putting my thumb in positions I would never consider when I'm not and it builds bad habits. Obviously that isn't advice for anyone else, do what you feel comfortable with. I work a lot more slowly than Doug too, as I often have to stop and think how I'm going to hold workpiece.
And having good thick skinned, workman's hands helps...💚🇬🇧🌱
