The best part of the rugby I saw was that final U.S. run to win the bronze. The second best part was the gold-medal winning Kiwis powerful haka after receiving their medals. Which to my knowledge NBC did not see fit to show in prime time.

Rugby Union is probably our 6th or 7th most played sport at this point. AFL, Rugby League, Cricket and Soccer are all much more played than Rugby Union at this point. More girls/women play Netball than any other girls/womens sport too.

@@delailama736 this isnt rugby union its rugby 7s - different rules 14 mins a game with only 7 playing from each team and USA is good at 7s like the aussie girls are - in fact most teams are on a par - the Irish girls won the cup in Perth 3 months ago beating the aussie girls who were number 1 at the time - completely different mindset and fitness level in 7s and this game is really more global as they have teams like japan brazil spain which are not rugby countries but represent their countries well at the 7s tournament every year

No matter how much respect I have for women's sport it just does not bring in the revenue....who pays for the houses?.......WNBA loses $10m a year and has never made a profit....it is funded and propped up by the men's game and some women want men to take a pay cut so women can earn more
US men's soccer brings in $6b a year......women's $136m........I know it sounds mean but nobody is interested in women's sport.....it's a niche market for people like us

@@PhilipBurton-dn3ce Never heard anyone claim male players should be coughing up for better pay for female players, more like the sporting agencies that rake in millions on top of the government funding they're provided. Women's sport being commercial is mostly fledgling, comparatively to men's, but it's growing every year.

Saw a comment by a guy below named Andrew fy 9wu..says Rugby is a minor sport, 150 countries play Rugby 200 play basket ball, 100 play baseball but RUGBY attracts the most views, you dont get a crown of 56,000 watching a basketball game and as to POPULARITY Basketbakk is listed at No 7 Baseball at No 8 Rugby at No 9..however TOP echelon level competition Rugby popularity is far in excess of both Basketball AND Baseball HOWEVER the TOP in the world?/ Soccer ( football ) Cricket and then Hockey ..NOT ice hockey by the way! So this person demonstrates extreme ignorance.
