I bought my B9 S4 back in August to replace my B8.5 Rs5. While I miss my Rs5, the S4 with an 034 Stage 1 ECU & TCU tune and an intake is so much more fun, nimble, practical, technologically advanced, and refined. A tune really wakes these cars up, and I'm glad that one was finally reviewed here.
I agree with that. 18 S4 034 Stage 1 ECU (93,E85) Stage 2 TCU, intake and Wagner intercooler. It's pretty quick and plenty of torque. The hybrid setups are really moving on this platform. I think 034 just ran like10.00. They are probably under that now. PSA: Check your oil cap on these cars 🧯

B5 S4 is the fox body mustang of the audi world in my opinion. I love mine and wouldnt trade it for any other s4. 2016 is the last s4 model id get... last yr of manual. It might be slower red light to red light, but for me its more fun. A few grand. Around 3 or 4k from my research, and the 333hp is 498hp. Very nice. Going new id have to switch to either m3 or amg c45/63.

I found a 16' stick S4 fir her with 70k for " only " 26k. But she wanted warranty and jumped on a used glc43 suv band wagon 😪. From what i read b8.5 is WAY more reliable then B5. And as i mentioned practically 500hp stock supercharger with a few Thousand $. Much cheaper 500hp then B5. Not to say a love the B5 s4 any less for costing more to get 500hp. As a guy who mods/fixes all my rides since first one and maintained a B5 S4 for 11 yrs, and built a Big turbo b5 A4 for myself, be prepared to spend money on upgrades/parts. budget for maintenance on your used 26 to 35k used b8.5 S4. This is not a stereotypical Japanese car that " never needs anything " things just dont last as long in these cars. Not sure how bmw and benz compare. But awd stick benz never existed as far as i know ( though i could be wrong ) and 330xi/440xi stick arent easy to come by and are more money. Also as a side PITA note. B8.5 s4 has timing chain like 4.2 v8 and vr6... between trans and rear of motor 🤢. Big money repairs at a shop.

It has everything the same except its a 2.0t not 4.2. I wish it was a 3.2l tho. I have full bolt ons and upgraded cooling with water meth injection. Its about 300hp and 315 ft lbs of torque. It gets up and goes pretty well. I am more into cornering and such so i have 2 strut bars up front. Lower engine chassi brace, trans brace. Rear lower suspension brace and a custom built chassi brace in the trunk thats up against the back seats. ( it fits snug). Only 200 of these cars were built. Half are ibis white, the rest are a metalic grey. Less then half of the 200 cars were 6 speed manual. So i figure my car is actually 1 of 75 or maybe less

German cars require meticulous maintenance and the average driver just doesn't do what they need to when they should. Follow the maintenance schedule in the manual to a T and you'll have a good time.
@@TheCinderellaman10 i have the dct, when i got the car it immediately went in the shop for stage 2 tcu/ecu tune from IE, so i cant say much about its stock form. but how it is now, i've had no issues, i drive 90% of the time with the paddles and its instant shift response both up and down, and all super smooth. i have a 2020 mustang gt with the 10 speed and by comparison its paddle shift speed has full 1 to 2 second delays and some gears kick hard while others are smooth. i wanna get a tune for that in the near future for a better comparison
I have a 2012 Audi A6 with this same engine. Literally less than $2500 and you can go from 310 crank horse all the way past 425CHP. Hell the "stage 1" tune without any other change nets you at least 50hp. This is because the supercharger has a bypass valve that lets air past the supercharger. This valve opens and drops your boost at 5200 RPM but the redline is 6500. All the tune does is tell the car to keep that valve closed and maintain boost the whole way. Audi knew what they were doing with this engine and knew people would tune them. Some people are making 500+CHP with less than $5000 of mods.

i love how diverse tge s4 engine layout is😅 turbo inline 5 in the 100c4 tgen the 2.7biturbi in tge b5 then the v8 in the b6 and b7 and thwn the 3.0T and after that the hot v6 single turbo
Personally I think the storage box gives it a mecha vibe...like a Gundam car, lol. That said I have a roof mounted bike rack that stays there for months at a time as it is a whole time suck to mount and line up.

Most any newer turbocharged car will be faster with "just a tune." This car is nothing like the R8 in any fashion, it being better is highly subjective too, but if you're comparing the 2 from a sports car aspect the R8 is an infinitely better sports car
Your thinking of the Audi rs3 my boy it’s got a inline 5 with a turbo with small bolt ons these cars can do 8-9 sec quarter miles but not the s4 sadly they gave up on that platform.

These cars are badass, when they are the RS4, not the S-Line which is mostly an appearance package. However, they stay badass if you have deep pockets, or know how to wrench on them yourself as much as possible. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people that feel that these, like other German performance cars, often turn into mechanical turds that $1000 you to death when they are over 5 years old, or have over 100,000 km's on them, if they aren't religiously maintained...

Cool car, but many poor decisions. Too bad they didn't do coilovers, expensive rework for the winner. This is 2023 version of Pimp My Rides hot tub in the back of your van. Storage box needs to go YESTERDAY and wheels are ugly and impractical, put some 19"s on there.

got some bad news for you that motor on a mustang dyno will hit 340 whp witch is well over 400 crank. This motor is underated!
