Is this the strongest, most durable inflatable on the market? Better than or to the Advanced Elements, Aquaglide, Kokopelli, etc? I've seen the stress test video. I see that the Kokopelli rafts use Kevlar in their boats and I wonder if it is even stronger than the 1000 denier material you use. I am considering getting the Explorer.

Hello Penalty, thank you for watching and for your questions. Sea Eagle products are some of the strongest in their categories of PVC-built nylon reinforced hulls. Sea Eagle always aims to use thicker and stronger blends of PVC than our competitors.
Some competitors offer hulls built with TPU and Kevlar as well as PVC. There's a reason for this. TPU has more stretching properties than PVC. As a result, TPU is more abrasion resistant but also has a good memory. However, TPU cost nearly double that of PVC, and PVC has also been around for about 50+ years over TPU.
Here's where things get a bit tricky. Most in the industry seek the best of all worlds. They want something light but also durable and cost-effective. That creates a trade-off. For instance, you'll note that some competitors' TPU rafts are just nearly 1/5th the thickness of 1000d reinforced PVC. The reason is cost and weight. Kevlar aramid-nylon blend is added to increase strength while keeping costs and weight under control.
Are you seeing the trade outs? Yes, TPU can be more durable than PVC in some circumstances but the cost is also much higher. So manufacturers use thinner TPU to keep the product cost down and make it lighter. Does this result in a stronger more robust product than using 1000d PVC? Not necessarily, that's why most competitors sell both.
The question really is, what are you willing to trade out? Do you want something light and are willing to sacrifice durability or are you willing to sacrifice weight for something more robust?
Sea Eagle Boats, Inc., is a family-owned and operated business of well over 50 years (since 1968). The competitor you mentioned since 2012. There are not many companies that have been in the business for over 50 years, offer a 3-Year extendable to 6-year Warranty, free shipping to the lower 48 US states, 130 Day Money Back Guarantee, and live one-on-one US-based customer service. At Sea Eagle, we stand by our products and we'll stand by you!
