I honestly can't understand why anyone actually wastes time to watch a Snyder film. He's the worst filmmaker working in an industry that is sorely lacking actual talent outside of a handful of directors like Villeneuve and Nolan.
I am someone who has enjoyed some of his films especially his comic book adaptations. I never thought he was even close to being on the level of a Nolan or Villeneuve but I would be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy some of his films. His latest ones (Army of the Dead, Rebel Moon 1 & 2) have been painful watches and I’m questioning whether I will enjoy any future Snyder films.
@@kaneeddy The problem there is Snyder himself acts like he's on te same level as Nolan or Villeneuve.
This never goes deeper than one hour of farming wheat and second hour of action. The film has zero consequences. I have a hard time believing he made Watchman after seeing this mess.
For watchmen he made an almost scene per scene adaptation of an already existing story
I saw Watchmen in theaters and honestly liked it. Also liked his Dawn of the Dead remake, to give the guy his due. Besides Part 1, I don't think I saw or liked anything else he's done.
It strikes me as surprising that Snyder has stooped so low in this movie. I agree that Watchmen is terrific, it is an incredibly interesting superhero film that has only aged like a fine wine. I really enjoy his takes on the superhero genre alongside Watchmen I really enjoyed Man of Steel, his version of Justice League and will go as far as saying I enjoyed BvS despite its messiness. I always find that when he attempts original stories he really falters because he’s a director that thinks almost solely in imagery and when he doesn’t have an existing narrative to build off it seems like he becomes lost, so you’re left with a really hollow and empty movie like Rebel Moon.
@@moloko912 But he himself missed the entire point of the graphic novel. Just like he couldn't grasp Superman.
@@jmsmys13ify agreed
I watched Part 1 from a position of total smugness and superiority; I just wanted to see how bad - how *stupid* - the thing was and oh boy, I wasn't disappointed. I'm honestly embarrassed to admit that I watched the whole thing, all the while trying to put myself in the mindset of someone who liked it (which is to say, maybe a 9 year-old?). I'm not going to repeat that experiment with Part 2. Thanks for taking a bullet for us, Kane:)
Good thinking on avoiding this one. I feel so silly for watching the second one after not really enjoying the first one. I pretty much share the same feelings with you on the first one but I was hoping that maybe it was just a slow start that has a much better payoff which is definitely not the case. So much other stuff that is worth watching over this.
Same... Vindication! 😅
I could not make it through the movie it was so bad.
Honestly if I wasn’t going to do a review on it I would have stopped watching about 30 minutes in.
i stopped when the general something something said he wanted to speak to the villages then started to give a speech about fighting.. the scene before that was when they said admiral Nobel is dead, then figured out he was not.. that acting scene was just so bad and short.. i just couldnt finish it.. lol
Is it bad that I’ve already forgotten that scene entirely haha.
Part 2 is being misunderstood, it is truly great in the way it shows part 1 is not as bad as it could of been and a cliffhanger for the horror of shit that could come in the future
3:10 You said it right there, for someone who can make proffesional looking stuff... LOOKING!!! But not proffesional writting, the moment that man takes a pen and a paper to write or a computer to start typing shit everything turns into that... SHIT! 🤷
Pretty much, it is very noticeable when it comes to his original stuff as well. Hearing him talk about movies it seems like he really prefers to think just about cool looking images which is evident and because of that his narratives take a back seat. That was really noticeable here but the thing was I don’t think this is a consistently good looking film either. I think if the narrative is going to take a back seat you need to have some atmosphere and this just doesn’t, it feels artificial and stale.
I'm getting the feeling you didnt like it.
What a comment hahahaha
It's a shame this didn't work out I actually was looking forward to it I haven't seen any of it yet because you know I just haven't but you know I don't think I'll bother wasting my time with it at this point
I was quite optimistic and somewhat excited as well. Original sci fi is always interesting to me and I like a fair amount of Zack Snyder movies but this is just a waste of your time.
Now it is safe and accurate to say not a single positive thing came out of the Snyder cut.
The Snyder Cut should have only been one cool moment for fans. Not something to be continuously exploited for financial gain.
when are people going to accept the fact that Hack Snyder is not a good filmmaker? he's made a few good film, but none of those were films he had any real creative control over the narrative. Dawn of the Dead written by James Gunn and Guardians of Gahoulle (or whatever that owl movie was) were good films. But you give him creative control and you get Suckerpunch which aged horribly and was already questionable and the entire DCEU was so badly handled it had to be scrapped. But this? This has to be the all time worst of his entire career.
It’s between this and sucker punch as his worst films for me.
people need to stop defending him, he is an over rated director. he's a hack that believes his own hype. And stop defending him with the producers messing up his vision excuse. Netflix hired him to make a pg-13 movie. They told him what they wanted and he agreed to it. It's on him as a director to make what he is hired to make. Every other director can do this without needing director's cuts to save their movie.
I was willing to give him a pass on Justice League but there are no excuses for Rebel Moon. There is no way I’m going to keep watching these movies if they’re going to purposefully waste my time because there is some other version that “could” be better. Also Rebel Moon is so bad that I don’t think there is any cut that will make this be a good movie.
His fans thought people were just hating on Zack Snyder for the last decade but the truth is that a lot of people already could tell since Man of Steel that this guy really doesn't know how to write a good screenplay or tell a great story as a director. It's just visual diarrhea he keeps putting on screen to trick people that he's a talented visual director. However the truth is his cult of fans made him an even worse director that now keeps doubling down on what most people hate from his movies
Hey, man, just wanted to tell you this is an excellent review! God bless, and I just subbed!
Man that’s awesome to hear, thank you so much!!
Mediocre is a nice word to describe tvis waste of money
So true, it was a tough watch due to how bored I was. Can’t believe the amount of money that Netflix has thrown into these movies.
Yeah they bought him back just to kill him again..one woman bought down a entire star ship and that's just stupid
There is _nothing_ an 'R' rating would have improved in these two movies. The coherency of the story is not rating dependent. The (lack of) complexity of the characters and their individual character growth is not rating dependent. The "Snyder Cut" is just a marketing buzzword now. It's meaningless. All that we would get in an 'R' version is nudity (almost certainly all women) and gore.
And even the added runtime is nonsense. He could have gotten each movies, with whatever scenes he deliberately cut for "Snyder Cut" version, in under 2 hours _just by cutting 95% of the slow-motion._
I completely agree with you here, I will not be wasting my time with the Snyder cut on either of these movies. He had a good reason with Justice League but now it is being taken too far. Many film makers are able to get their vision out so why is Snyder the only one who can’t seem to get it right the first time. This isn’t a High School project where you have a draft. People are paying money to see these movies so he should fight harder for his version rather than constantly short change the audience and then try to make it up to us later.
Did everyone think it was gonna be a 2-parter? I always thought it was gonna be a trilogy. Not that I'm going to watch any of them after that abysmal part 1
From what I saw it was always marketed as a two parter and then recently Snyder said something about 6 movies. I don’t see this getting any better so I’m basically done now. Like you said it’s abysmal.
I think Snyder has been eating too much of his own bullshit that he's become self-absorbed at best and vainglorious at worst. Since the release of 300, I simply couldn't wait for the next Snyder movie, but his ego and the ones feeding it, have helped to produce this gawdawful "epic" that's really only about 1hr 15min long if u cut out all of the slo-mo scenes. Seriously, after watching over 10 min of "action", I realized that the "heroes" had completed a total of about 5 moves; especially in the case of Nemesis. Just a complete waste of time and film to be completely honest
Completely right, I was kicking myself after posting the video for not mentioning that both these movies have enough substance to fit one hour of a real movie, it is that shallow. I really feel like Snyder has got to reevaluate what he does that works within his films and what doesn’t and come up with something fresh. This consistent weaponised incompetence to market a second version of the same movie is getting tiring really fast.
@@kaneeddy absolutely! And hire some good writers for Christ sakes!! I don't often use the word cringe, but how else could u describe the exposition dump on each character while they sat around a table to tell their stories. It's like they took the clips that were removed from the directors cut and just jammed them in there while they drank ale. So organic lol
That scene was so laughable and the sequel bait at the end was just so bad and forced. You can’t help but think this must be a parody. Snyder usually prioritises imagery over the narrative and that’s all well and good but he needs to use that more to his advantage rather than have such dialogue heavy movies with these amateur hour screenplays. I think Snyder seems pretty content to keep pushing on with the same style though which will hurt his reputation with his fans as he keeps cranking out terrible movies.
Also I noticed some blatant moments where it feels like a scene from this directors cut was supposed to be added but as you said it’s just been ripped out making things feel forced and strange. I don’t think any version of this movie will help it, the problems Rebel Moon have are too severe and it’s not like Justice League where a different director took over. Zack Snyders name is all over this so there are really no excuses in Rebel Moons case.
@@kaneeddy exactly! Perfectly explained 👍

slowwwwwwwww
Mooooottttttionnnnnnnnn
The only thing he makes are trailers that he strings together into movie golems
Quite similar with "The Seven Samurai" film.
It's even worse than the first. There are no words how bad these movies are.
I don’t know how that happened but Snyder pulled it off.
He said 6 part when he was promoting the first. It's not news it's typical snyder trash
Yeah.
.. It wasn't great.
..
horrible movie
you guys are crazy this movie is good!
Each to their own but I honestly did not have any fun with this movie. Glad you had a good time with it though!!
Our condolences, but you are actually clueless.
I can't think of a worst indictment for Rebel Moon than to say, "I'd rather watch Rise of Skywalker." Jeez!
I struggled through part 1, and was tossing up continuing with part 2, with a slim hope it may have lifted. But you've just sealed it. Such poorly written characters, which I struggled to connect with.
I was the same with part 1 but I still had some hope but that was quickly extinguished with part 2.
His last good movie was 300. Everything after that has been ok or dogshit
I like snyder stuff ever since 300 n Watchmen and epic MAN of Steel but this is 😴😴😴 i never thought i would hate slow mo ..its a shame i really wanted to like it but nope ..as you said IM DONE
I like those Snyder films as well and this to me has really confirmed that original projects from him don’t work as well as his adaptations. Couldn’t agree more with you.
