We spent a week in a standard balcony cabin on board Princess Cruises' newest ship Discovery Princess. How does it compare to a Mini Suite? What were the things we liked and what didn't we like? We show you around and then give you an honest assessment after a week of living here with all our stuff. Enjoy!

FYI…I bring a night light & leave it plugged into the socket in the restroom. I agree about the placement of the TP holder was a big mistake. I just take it off the holder & put it on the counter. Thanks for the tour.

Thanks for another brilliant video both 🤩 This looks like a very nice standard of standard balcony cabin 😀 We definitely like the decor, and most of the issues seem common with this grade (and as you say typical of this class of ship).

Great review, as usual! We will be on the Discovery Princess for th first time, on the Love Boat Cruise in October. It was interesting, and discouraging, to learn that the “dressing room “ light also controls the cabin light! I don’t recall that on the Royal, or Majestic, where I found the motion sensor light at the side of the bed, that lights the dressing area, a nuisance for others who may be sensitive to light. This is worse! I do however, love that area on all Princess ships. I’ll take that open closet space for a smaller living space any day! The Royal Class ships are lovely, but I do miss the larger balconies and promenade decks of the older ships. Oh…and a lower passenger count! I’m sorry to have rambled on! Thank you again for all your hard work creating your videos! Wonderful experiences, but also a lot of work! Lois😊

@@visitwithus we did have a wonderful cruise on the beautiful Discovery, although the Royal Class carries too many people for us! I have to say I was expecting more events with the cast, scheduled and held in venues that could handle more of the fans. That was okay, though, as the entertainment on board was top notch in my book. Rock Opera took my breath away. Oh, and Club Class dining made our days! By the way, I was in my 20’s when The Love Boat aired and have seen every episode. I don’t think I would have recognized them in an elevator, either! Lois🤣

April 2023 will be my THIRD cruise EVER. First time aboard Discovery Princess. It'll be my first 7-day as well. And I think this is the cabin I'll be staying in...this EXACT cabin, we'll see! It's good to know how many outlets the cabin has. And that's a big TV. I kind of dig the carpet and the color scheme...especially considering my first two cruises were with Carnival (which I love, but...we're talking about Princess, here).

The balcony on the Regal and the Sky are the same as the Discovery, i traveled as a single on the Regal (Jan)so it was great! On the SkyPrincess(Dec) we were in a mini suite club class (A429)with 3 of us..we had a extended balcony and they put an extra chair out there for us and it was a nice amount of space. Our bathroom had a tub…i agree about the toilet roll i had to twist myself to get it. 😖As for the closet i would open the bathroom door and it lit up the closet and no one was disturbed. And ahhhh for the bed. I used the sofa bed and it was as comfy as the regular bed.Thx for the tour😊🚢

Thanks for that. BTW, The difference between a standard and a premium balcony is a love seat. That's why there's just a chair at the desk. They have to have something to charge a different price for. I think the premium balcony has an additional two or three feet of space (inside) to accommodate the love seat.

You have to realize that most of us have not, due to pricing. Everything is relevant to the pricing. Thanks though, I do like your videos. Re the closet light, just put the bathroom one on. God, you do take loads of shoes, two pairs are all you need, walking and evening. The bathroom is fine, glass doors get in the way and need a larger bathroom to use them, and they are dangerous as often have a sharp bottom edge.
