This is one of best, no, it s the best product review ever produced by Anderton’s. Excellent feature and spec review, but the demonstration is fantastic. The play is superb. Every part was perfectly produced.
Fantastic demonstration. There’s nothing better than a Jazz Bass into a classic amp tone. This is absolutely perfect for travelers or anyone looking for a great value. Sounds phenomenal. Thanks for using the Fender player series for the review. Will be checking out the Ant and the Newt variants. Just an incredible all in one system. Got to love Andertons AATBass series. Always done with class!
Sick tone, Nathan. We know it's all in the fingers. ❤️ I like the Ashdown sound very much. I have one of the very last UK-built Electric Blue EB12-150 combos and used it to record an album. With PA support, it's plenty loud. I think that wee ANT and its 200W would be a stellar touring setup.
Great Demo, Nathan. Nice little amp and sounds even better when the person playing it has his chops together :-) Rare to find musos that can turn their hands to and sound good on, a variety of instruments
N King and you don’t know how pleased I am to see even you pulling faces when trying to play it. It was the bass line that got me in to playing bass and 30 years later it still ties me up in knots 🥵. Lovely sounds in that demo mate
Nathan is much less obnoxious when he's on his own...I really love his 'no nonsense' approach when he records solo..... great stuff Nathan....thanks a lot :)
And that bass line, wow so beautiful....I though Ian Dury was amazing....a bit like Alex Harvey, perhaps....so tongue in cheek, but serious too... that's a sign of a true artist..nice to hear that bass-line again....great choice, Nathan.... :)
I was never a fan of Ashdown, seemed like a completely unnecessary brand. However, I bought an Ashdown Vintage 12 combo (discontinued now) for rehearsals roughly a year ago, and God that little cheap thing sounds good! It makes the bass sound like a bass should. I only wish it had more power. Now I'm trying to figure out if I should get something like this Ant - I rarely need even half of the power of my 500W class D amp anyway - or buy a new head with enough headroom for any gig I might get. Regardless, I'll be pairing it with my amazingly loud and light Barefaced Super Twin (212). It would be neat to ditch the amp on top of the cab and have everything on the pedalboard instead. I'd just need a longer speakon cable in that case. 🙂
So how would this be as straight preamp live while using my old Crown or QSC for power? I like a little tube grit sometimes too so maybe the Ashdown Original Pre would suffice my needs better? Great playing Nathan!!!
I see you guys are stocking the new Morley 20/20 pedals. Any chance of a decent demo of some of them on bass? The vids on the Morley site aren't great.
Honestly I like the idea and shape BUT there is no Aux-in and no possibility to stomp for muting it - why haven’t they made it a real pedal??? With an aux-in it’ll be the perfect mini practice amp. So it seems like Ashdown haven’t thought this product through. Too bad...
I just can't see the point of a pedalboard amp for bass. Modern D class amps are no bigger, have a builtin DI and (usually a compressor) and don't require a cabinet load. Put this thing on your board and you will probs need a bigger board anyway.
I agree. I have to ditch about half of my pedals (total of 12) to fit it on my board. And I already have an Ashdown RM500 which I love. But it is a cool toy.
No gain, poor eq, not much power. Am I the only Bass Player That needs 250 W or higher? It is not only the volume but the clarity of deep bass, that requires the power. I would recommend to buy a Tc electronic BQ 500 or the BH 250 with TonePrint instead.
Can we have a ‘The Captain meets...’ with Nathan? Fantastic player with some great stories I’d imagine!
That would be awesome! Only just learned that he toured with It Bites as well, one of my favourite bands of the 80's!

That's a rather good thing. Damn good playing as well Nathan.

Hit me with that funky bassline Nathan! Nailing it!

Only just noticed that (Hit me with your rhythm stick) without lyrics, sounds like a stage from Sonic the Hedgehog. Nice playing though 👌

awwww man Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick is just one of the flippin best basslines ever
HIT ME WITH YOUR RHYTHM STICK!
Hit me!
Hit me slowly. Hit me quick!
@@SurferessHit me! Hit me! ......Hit mmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeee!
From Bombay to Santa Fe!!!
Ooh la la, c'est fantastique (from memory)
GREAT GROOVE! all it needs is a VU meter and long louspeaker cable
I think Nathan plays Bass for the Blockheads at festivals etc. He definitely was playing with them at our local show.
It's true! I cover for Norman when he's otherwise engaged! 😀

🤣🤣🤣
Sounds amazing. I will get one eventually.
Sounds great, and every tone the EQ gets you is usuable!
A real versatile piece of kit! Should make a lot of Bass players happy... 😉
Nice! I love my ashdown, but it's a giant monster and a back killer to transport!
An issue a lot of Bass players tend to find. With products such as this coming out, taking a portable rig with high-end tones could not be easier!
And that bass line, wow so beautiful....I though Ian Dury was amazing....a bit like Alex Harvey, perhaps....so tongue in cheek, but serious too... that's a sign of a true artist..nice to hear that bass-line again....great choice, Nathan.... :)
Yassss! Blockheads!!! Go and do a sound like, then
The mute should be a footswitch, sounds very nice great review!
I’ll say it again. I ❤️ Frost*!
I'll take the Fender Player Jazz instead. Thanks. A fantastic bass in a gorgeous colour!! 🧡
go Nathan go!
So, the shape button would override whatever you've done with the three EQ knobs?

Got to check this out!
Very nice playing Mr King, share the backing track with us please! Please!
Brilliant

Is the first song by Steely Dan?
Sounds good
Is that fan noise coming from the Ant or something else?

With an aux-in it’ll be the perfect mini practice amp.
So it seems like Ashdown haven’t thought this product through. Too bad...
So it's supposed to go on your pedal board, but has no effects loop? Seems a bit counter intuitive.
i can't think of anything that wouldn't exclusively go in front of it.
A guitar version would be dope
There is - its called "The Newt"! (no really, it's true!)
did you watch the video? he talks about the guitar version.
That Bass is definitely Asbo Orange, it’s even got the Ford reference, “Capri”

Rule #2!
Do a sound like Avenged Sevenfold.
tc bam200... even smaller, way cheaper
