I currently am using the moment cine bloom 10%! It lives daily on sony zv1! Since it has internal nd (not much but better than nothing), I only add my diffusion filter to my camera. Looking forward to upgrading to a interchangeable sony body! Hehe
Just tried out this filter and when using lenses wider than a 24 you start to get a sort of vignette if the pola isn't in the right position, I'd recommend spending money on two separate filters
What I really would like to know is if there are lens hoods that work with this, in order to remove glare along the side of the lens. In my case 67mm version for my 58mm lens attaching the 67mm with a step up ring
@@CamberFilmSchool Thank you for answering. Haida has updated images on Amazon USA with lens hood thread pitch. Out of curiosity, why don't you use lens hoods? Creative reasons?
ANY filter you put over a lens will soften the image some because you’re adding more (and typically cheaper) glass than what’s already there. That said, I didn’t notice any obvious added softness.
I didn’t really notice vignetting. I would get one that fits your largest lens and go from there. If the 67mm is your largest then I’d get the one that fits that.
I have a Black Magic 4K, so I will need an IR cut filter. Does the cut filter go before the ND filter (before as in closer to the camera lens)? This Haida has two thread sizes, so I am trying to figure out what IR Cut thread size I need.
@@CamberFilmSchool Wrong. The thread in front of this filter is one size bigger, for example, if you bought this filter for 77mm of your lens, you going to need 82mm cap or whatever you want to put in front of this filter.
Thanks for the video. I got a 77mm for my camera, but my 77mm lens cap is too small for the filter. Should I get a 82mm lens cap? What are your suggestions? Thanks!
I just take it off when not using it. I'm not sure what the size of the front of the filter is, but you could definitely get a lens cap to fit it if you want to keep it on the camera.
Hey! Love the video! Just wanted to know if you can only use the polarizer part separate or do you have to always be at a 3 stop once equipped. Can the ND be at 0 when you attach it and then you use the lever to change it?
I have a question for this filter is, when we change the focal length (lense zoom) down to about 25mm (below that), does it cause the X pattern or Vignette? Thank you.
I know you mention any lens wider than 35mm but Im about to purchase the Tamron 20-40mm 2.8. I wonder if the X pattern is still not as bad on 20mm ahahaha. Thanks for your review. I enjoyed it alot!
There’s always going to be slight vignetting but it’s not really noticeable. Could depends on the scene you’re shooting though. I didn’t notice color shift.
Great video as usual. In your opinion, is this ND filter better than Tiffen variable ND filter? I’m undecided on which filter to get. Naturally I want true to color and without the vignetting. Thanks in advance.
I’m currently using the Haida PROII CPL-VND 2-in-1 filter, and I’ve noticed a recurring issue. Whenever I use it, I see a dark spot that moves as I rotate the filter. Sometimes, I can make small adjustments to make it disappear, but I’ve had difficulty spotting the dark spot, especially during night photography. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Are all CPL filters like this, or is it specific to this model?
I didn’t hear you mention it but was there any noticeable colour cast? Also in real world terms, would you likely need more than 7 stops, and if you did, would you just add maybe a 1 or 2 stop fixed nd behind this filter to compensate?
I didn’t notice any color cast issues. As far as the amount of stops you need, it would depend on what aperture you plan to use and time of day. If it’s during golden hour, it should be plenty. High noon may need more.
@@CamberFilmSchool strong corner vingetting at 7 stops: ruclips.net/video/1CdpUYcrL4U/видео.html example should at 4:57, still a great filter for a great price. I own it.
I just wanted to make sure you’re talking about the filter and not the fact that a lot of light is being blocked. A lot of folks don’t realize how a filter will affect exposure and use the thing at night with a high iso. 😬

Wonderful insight on the filter..man too bad its not a magnetic system!..that would have been so much better!..thats the main issue with these..that some of them are still thread on..which takes forever..so much more convenient when switching from lens to lens..but overall I am definitely willing to try this filter..especially with the reasonable price point.

yes.. i hv an ND Filter and a Polarising filter. Really interested in getting a Tiffen 1/8th mist filter in the future

Wow I never thought filters like this are this effective! Love the pool and water reflection testing
Yea, it’s pretty cool how you can cut through that glare.

Good to know. 24mm is the widest my lens goes so it wasn’t as noticeable.
can you recommend a lens cap to go with it? my 77m Sony lens takes the 77m filter fin but the lens cap is too small over the filter

Glad you figured it out! Yes, I just like the way the lens flares look in most of my shots.
can I mount another filter like mist on top of it? does it have thread?? if yes what is the size😢
One of the biggest complaints I hear about filters is changes and shifts in color. Did you find this filter kept the true color of your footage?
I’m sure it affects it, but I didn’t see any obvious noticeable changes.
Does the filter soften IQ sharpness at longer telephoto lengths like 600mm? I have a a Sony RX10 IV 24-600mm bridge camera.

@@CamberFilmSchool what focal lengths have you used it on? Any telephotos like a 70-200mm or anything higher?
Only on my 24-70mm so far.
My question is does it work with a mat box, specifically the small rig mini matbox
I’m not sure. I’ve never used one.
what about ghosting and lensflare? did you notice any? I notice huge differences between different filters there. Great video!
Thx! I didn’t notice anything different in that realm compared to without the filter.
Can you comment on vignetting. I am guessing I should use thev 82mm on my 67mm FF SONY tTamron lenses?

Yea, you can see in the video in the wide shot at the pond (24mm) that there’s a slight X pattern.
Can you unscrew the silver knob? Or is it always on the filter
It’s always on there.
Can it be used with a matte box? e.g. small rig or tilta

It’s really only noticeable in that one situation if you’re pointing towards the sun so I wouldn’t worry about it.

No, it doesn’t come with one.
