Thanks and appreciate this review - especially as it relates to photography rather then videography. I am an enthusiastic user of CPLs especially when I’m in a bright environment, such as Aus or the US SW, and often leave the filter on while I’m out and about. I’m off to Namibia next February’ish and am concerned about managing blown out highlights in the sky and while the CPL will help maybe the VND will assist further. Any loss of exposure below the skyline I can compensate for using a linear gradient mask. So adding the CPL and ND loss of stops I’m particularly worried using the filter on my Fuji 70-300 which can have a wide open aperture of a measly f/5.6! My 16-55 has a constant f/2.8 so no worries there.
Au contraire. Maybe I won’t need the CPL as much in Namibia and a GND will do the job.
    Anyway, thanks.

Great video Adrian! Looks like a really versatile combo filter, seems like that would really come in handy when traveling or at times when you don't necessarily want to lug around your entire kit. Really impressive not to have any vignetting, even as wide as 14mm! Really great example images in this one as well, especially the little waterfall image at 4:33. Great stuff as always mate, really enjoyed it. Hope you are having a great weekend!

Thanks very much for watching Paul. You're spot on mate with saying it's perfect for travel. Especially hiking and you want to keep your kit as light as you can. I've actually been impressed with these Haida filters in terms of the colors they put out, but also you don't get any vignetting or clipping. Designed well. Hopefully I'll get to do the Milford Sound Routeburn hiking trek one day in NZ and this will be the only filter I take along with the Z7 and 24-120mm lens and a couple of batteries. Have an awesome weekend Paul and take care 🙏📸

Being a bit of a Haida fan with a few of the nano pro 150mm filters mainly for use on my 14-24mm f2.8 G on my D850. I've just got this filter mainly to use on all my 77mm diameter ended F mount G lenses adapted on my new Z6ii, and so far, I'm well impressed. The thing I really like about Haida filters is that there's no or next to no colour cast that you usually get with the cheaper and some of the not so cheap filters on the market. Great video by the way.

I have gotten to where I only take a 10 stop ND and a circular polariser now, they seem to cover almost everything I want to shoot in these two filters. I also don’t shoot sunrise or sunset photos very much So graduated filters are not really needed. This one is really interesting as it does so much in one small package. Thanks brother!

    Wonderful video again Mr Alford,
    One small question:
My lens is 77mm. Should I buy the 77 mm filter? The shop is telling me to buy 82 mm and then use step down ring.
Their point is 77 mm lens with 77 mm filter may produce vignetting.
So, should I buy 77mm filter or 82 mm filter with step down ring? What is your opinion?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi Adrian. Really interesting. I'm moving towards landscape photography more to go with my interest in wildlife and nature. Out of curiosity, what would be a good lens for the D850 for landscape photography (and what size thread would that be)?
Thanks for all the videos. I always learn something 🙂

Hi David - i normally use my Nikon 16-35mm F4 VR lens for landscapes on my D850. It has a 77mm thread and is relatively inexpensive. I have done a review video on it here - ruclips.net/video/enxBDU32tto/видео.html - it has served me well over the years. Enjoy your weekend, cheers 🙏📸

Hey Adrian, I am keen on getting this filter for its versatility. I solely shot landscapes and seascapes, i was wondering if there is any color cast with these filters. Did you do any comparisons with and without the filter to check for color cast and sharpness?

    • @adrianalfordphotography
      @adrianalfordphotography  2 года назад

I noticed the color cast was no different than other more expensive filters I’ve used in the past. I was pretty impressed by the CPL in this. For seascapes I’d use this filter for sure.

@@adrianalfordphotography OK, if you do not mind me asking, which other filters did you compare it with? I currently use a Nisi ND64 + CPL 2 in 1 filter, and color cast is basically negligible.

Thanks for watching. Can I ask why you would want to do that when it has ND built in with this filter? Theoretically you could stack, but why you want to when it would be extremely dark and image quality would be pretty poor I think.
