Damn, bro. Don't post this shortly after midnight in Germany. I was just ready for bed, now I'm heading for the kit. Ah, man!
True 😂😂 same thing down here in austria
My bad! Still early out here in Cali haha
@@eliashager5026 The same in Italy...:):):)
As a metal drummer, this is a pretty crucial exercise.
I love your videos, proverbial "clicked so fast" comment but for real your videos are just so well made. Thanks for the extra effort you put in.
The Creative Pad Patterns was an awesome idea! I'm almost done with it... Can't wait for the Whole Kit Exercises! Go Austin!
Love your playing and exercises; always so clean and purposeful
Awesome! Can’t wait to see the full guided work out!
Love It! Thanks for all the tips and inspiration!
Glad to see more content!
Cool,man! Great exercise. Cheers!
Once again great job, Austin. Have to give this a go for sure! I love the "Grimace of Concentration!" 😉
Looks great sounds great
Oh man! Great video, very interesting exercise! I was missing your videos. Im gonna practice this tomorrow. Thanks for teaching.
Wow Austin. In Louisiana and got up at midnight for a nature break and headed to my electronic drums through headphones downstairs so I don't wake my wife up exercise. Thanks for all of your hard work. Bill.
Great. I've always liked unison exercises.
Always making me think! My head hurts.. Love it!!
Great Exercice!
Have all your courses! Looking forward to the Drumset Guided Workouts!!!!!
Awesome exercise! Will try out on the kit next time :)
This is so great! I love how you break down your exercises and it gives me practice fodder. I was all over your 5 groupings exercise you posted some time back and it's now part of my arsenal thanks to you. :-) Oh, how I wish I could take lessons with you but you aren't in Texas, lol.
Very nice!
Superb!!! Thx for sharing
Wow!
Very good exercise, thanks
Oh, that last part is tough. Great stuff, Austin. (BTW, I always sit through the ads paying for the hard work you undertake making these videos.)
Great exercise...I use a similar idea to switch crash/snare on each side.. also you can switch the unisons to alternate Right/left... create doubles between hands and feet...super fast and powerful with a double pedal ! 🥁🙄 Thank you Austin..
THANKS!!!!!!
thanks!
Welcome to the world of Thrash Metal drumming. Excellent work Austin
Bro will you post videos on iconic jazz beats and fills
Hey @ Austin! Could you do a study the greats on Aric Improta - "Blur-Lights in the Videodrome"? Especally the elements he plays with his sticks alone are a pretty interesting concept :)
Your toms are tuned very well
Nice, going to give that a go... easier with matched grip?
Thanks for the great content! What do you use to make the progress bar go in time over the notation that starts at 3:57 in this video? Thanks!
Craigb786 It’s the built in playhead from Logic.
Awesome lesson Austin! Would you mind telling me what type of crash cymbal that is to your left? I really like the sound of that one.🥁❤
18" Extra Dry Thin Crash 👌🏼
Dude, are you just using overhead mics and a bass drum mic here? Sounds amazing
👍
The biggest hurdle for me is the snare ( left hand ) and kick unison without flammin', especially on the &'s. I seem to always be ahead with the kick, damn...Any advice on that is mega appreciated. :)
Dats pretty cooo
*cartman voice.
If I am looking to record drums and don’t have a desktop yet, can I plug my headphones into the audio interface and still listen as I play?
I love it man !!
Hi, could you please do a video (Study the greats) of an analysis of some polyrhythmic double bass drum / snare grooves by Tomas Haake (Meshuggah) ? I think you should check out some of their songs, i think he deserved it.. Their stuff is just crazy, and sometimes very underrated. Highly recommended songs:
-Clockworks (Intro B's floor-tom/kick/snare linear groove, 9/4 over 4 polyrhythm; the verses pattern, 23/8 against 4 polyrhythmic cycle; chorus, 17/8 over 4 polyrhythm),
-Spasm (the verses pattern, 19/16 over 4 polyrhythm; the guitar solo section pattern, 27/16 over 4 polyrhythm),
-Glints Collide (the grooves in the middle of the song are all composed by a 13/16 against 4 polyrhythm),
-The Mouth Licking What You've Bled (the guitar solo pattern, 19/16 over 4 polyrhythm; ending section pattern, 9/16 against 4 polyrhythm),
-Dancers to a Discordant System (the breakdown in the middle of the song, 14/8 over 12/8 polyrhythm; the pattern of the guitar solo section, 29/8 over 12/8 polyrhythm),
-Electric Red (the pattern of the section in the middle of the song, 31/16 against 4 polyrhythm),
-New Millennium Cyanide Christ (Intro pattern, 23/16 against 4 polyrhythm; bridge/guitar solo section pattern, 9/16 against 4 polyrhythm)
What snare is that? Sounds/looks sick!
Sensitone Phosphor Bronze 14x5 👌🏼
This might be a question addressed on another video but here goes......why traditional grip? It seems like this exercise would be much easier with a standard grip. Also, open playing vs cross over. Do you discuss open kits and what it can afford? We all can't be Carter Beauford but..........
If Austin closes his eyes for concentration, then you should know that exercise is legit shit
You get this sound from overheads only?
Yea, plus a kick mic. My Octopre died on me so I'm being forced to minimize for now. It works though!
Somehow the intro video made me LMAO
Who dislikes a video like this?
Sounds like a lot of 80s metal drum fill intros Judas Priest and such
Hey Austin, why is your hihat dialed down so low? It's barely audible. I also noticed you don't have any individual drum mics. What happened?
My OctoPre went bad on me so I'm having to minimize my mic setup for now. 3 mics can definitely work though!
Man, are you even a human? 🤣🤣🤣 Tried playing it at 70bpm. Failed. 🤣
Don't compare your first try to my practiced and prepared presentation... I didn't show you my first try ;)
Hi hat on quarters note or it doesn't count for the double bass beat lol...
Lol I wonder if that would even be humanly possible
Hot ❤
