    FYI, Soda Ash and Arm and Hammer Washing Soda, aren't the same. Soda Ash is stronger, and gives much better results.

    I've made a new tie dye tool for reducing the rubber bands to hold ya scrunch in place and tight here's how:
    as you know once you get all your rubber bands on it you'll have a certain shape that that shirt is in. Trace that shape onto a piece of dence cardstock and take a measuring tape and measure around it. Do this especially if you do repeating shirts with the same pattern but different colors. This is your t-shirt tie dye pattern.
    2. Get you some map gas and torch and one stick of one and a half inch PVC pipe.
    3. Go outside get you a cinder block heat the PVC pipe up a little at a time and squash it flat with the cinder block until you have the whole piece flattened out.
    4. Take your skill saw and cut off the creased edges about 1/4" in or so leaving you with two long flat strips of PVC pipe.
    5. Take the measurements from the measuring tape and measure you off a piece adding 2 in. Cut the PVC pipe get a heat gun or use your torch heat up PVC pipe wrap it around the tie dye shirt or the piece of pattern so it's the same shape as the outside of the tied up shirt. The extra two inches will be divided so it's an inch on each end you will heat that up and form it into a 90° angle fill a hole and through both pieces at the same time and put you a bolt.
    6 now when you start scrunching your T-shirt and you get it to about the shape that it normally is when you put the rubber bands on you will slap this PVC brace strap around it and hold it together saving you all those rubber bands. I also make some just in circle / square an triangle shapes just to scrunch a t-shirt in and then you can tie dye one side flip it over and tie dye the other side just a little trick that I use it helps a lot when doing a lot of the same shirts

    • @igotdyeonit
      @igotdyeonit  3 года назад +1

      Doesn’t show as much as the front but it does show on the back as well. You can add black on the back too if you’d like, I just personally think it’s too much. The dye on the back will seep to the front so you will see more black on the front too.

    Awesome vid!! So I have couple printed white shirts I was thinking of trying. But I'm worried about not being able to see the print after.. is that a problem normally?

    • @igotdyeonit
      @igotdyeonit  3 года назад +1

      If they’re screen-printed it should be fine, but if it looks really thin I would be careful. Like on this shirt I didn’t want to risk the graphic get covered because even though it’s screen-printed it felt really thin, so I only used yellow over the graphic.
      If the print is DTG it’ll definitely get covered.

      I’m not sure, look up synthropal and see if you can find anything. Honestly it isn’t super necessary, if you rinse your shirts out until they run clear I think you should be fine without it.

    hey! this looks SO awesome, i just wanted to ask u some advice: i want to do this to a pair of shorts but i’m thinking if i make the waist band the centre of the scrunch (hard to describe but if u imagine looking at the shorts from the top down, like when u take them off while standing and they’re just chilling around ur ankles with the waistband on top) then i could maybe achieve an effect where they’re more yellow at the bottom and more black at the top??? do u think this would be possible? sorry i know this a super specific question and probably doesnt make much sense haha, super appreciate if u even take the time to respond to this :D

    • @igotdyeonit
      @igotdyeonit  3 года назад

      Hey sorry for the late response, but yes I think that would work! Honestly though only way you’ll find out is by trying. And if it doesn’t work out try it a different way :)
