Watched plenty other videos, all of them did this job by draining the coolant and that wasn’t an option for me). Thanks for detailed video, it took 4 hours just to remove the alternator but I got the job done)))

Looks good. I am going to give this a try tomorrow. Wife is stranded about 7hrs away so time to load up a few tools and go for a drive.

Love my Camry but I am doing the 3rd alternator replacement in 200,000 miles and the engineering for this is STUPID.

video was a lifesaver.. that last bolt on the alternator is what's holding me up i guess.. trying to get to the crank position sensor that's behind the AC compressor to see if that solves my issue of the engine shutting off, although i feel like it's something at the top of the motor that's getting hot. under hood temps causes it to shutdown so i assume a faulty sensor. if i have a fan laid on top of the engine blowin it'll stay running.

A few years ago, me and my father did this project since his car had 200K+ miles and the alternator had broke down during a work trip. It turns out that this 1 hour project was delayed by 2 days all because a stubborn bolt! lol

Ok I did this job today on a 2010 Camry 3.5L. Car was running in less than 3 hours. I ran the car up on ramps and had to work the belt from below (wheel well). That and disconnect some of the wiring harness. I must say reaching the lower alternator bolt was the worst part - hard on my arms and hands. No room when not removing any plumbing. I had a swivel impact socket that was just the right length. Thanks for the tips.

I need to replace the ac compressor, I’m guessing I have to remove the alternator because it’s the only way to have clear access?

my mechanic is saying the radiator needs to be removed for the alternator to be replaced but looks like this isn't true?

Labor guide does say to remove it. But as you can see it can be sneaked out. He's not incorrect.

The title says EASY it certainly doesn't seem easy to me, it seem like a lot of frustration!!!

I have the same exact car. Looks the same exact way. I took all the bolts out. I’m stuck trying to get it out of the hood. When you say jack up the engine .. do you mean jack up the whole vehicle or JUST the engine?

      Just the engine

Does anyone know about the pulley tension? Is it spring loaded so it just keeps tension on its own?
