Here's something I noticed that makes absolutely no sense as to why Godzilla would travel to NYC. So the reason why he mostly hides is because he's migrating to an island for nesting. But like, he passed many other islands that were perfect for him with clean water on all sides, enough food to eat, and without an army trying to kill him. You can just easily hide in a filled with MILLIONS of people when you're the size of a building. Also, this Godzilla is a reptile, so he needs a warm environment like near the equator. Not one that rains constantly and has snow in the winter. Why he migrated there makes no sense other than the writers wanted to set the movie in NYC. Plain and simple.
While you saying he passed other islands makes sense, the part where you said godzilla needs a warm environment is untrue when godzilla traditionally can withstand cold temperatures. But I mostly agree

And just like Korey, I was sad to see him get killed. I found it really upsetting to see him get shot with missiles again and again. He's screams are downright disturbing. And in his last few seconds you hear his heartbeat getting slower and slower, then you literally see the light leave his eyes and he's gone. It made me feel so sorry for him. Crazy how 2014 Godzilla took so many things that worked and failed in this one and made them so much better. It even took the concept of Emeric wanting a grounded disaster movie and actually pulled it off
As an adult, yeah the film isn't very good but I'd be lying if I said "I don't enjoy it." Definitely a guilty pleasure and a nostalgia trip when I watch it. One thing we can perhaps all agree on: David Arnold's musical score was spectacular.
The movement Audrey made stealing thel TOP SECRET thing reminded me of Swiper from Dora The Explorer. Audiences across the world could have yelled “Audrey No Swiping” to no avail.
i was an extra in this movie! i came out of my office and they were filming..they said 'run scream and point up to the sky..we will CG the rest in later!"
It is so f*cked that Stan Winston's Godzilla design and the 1994 script never got made because the studio didn't like the budget. Funny thing is this movie costed twice as much as the budget intended for the 94 film.
That honestly remind me of Venom a bit. But at least there when Eddie Brock did what he did, not only was rightfully fired but his girlfriend rightfully broke up with him after she lost her job because of it. In this movie the woman basically ruined his life but she makes it as though it’s his fault instead. Truly despicable.
Goodness this brings back memories. I never thought this movie was bad. I saw this in the largest indoor cinema in the world (at that point), which was a huge cinema mounted especially at the Spektrum in Oslo in celebration of the premiere for Tomorrow Never Dies. It was a HUGE screen. And they showed Godzilla there as well, which was pretty cool. Now, I wouldn't go today and say this is Godzilla though. They have renamed him Zilla in Japan, which is cool. He is a kaju, like Godzilla, Rodan and so on, and thats cool. As a monster movie, its not bad AT ALL. There are so many that are far worse than this. And this one has Jean Reno. Hard to go wrong with him. Try to lighten up a bit. Even the Japanese like this movie now. Its stupid fun like Godzilla these days is.
I could hear the Taco Bell chiuawa plushies as soon as I saw the thumbnail. "Here, lizard lizard...heeeerrreee lizard..." "I think I need a bigger box..."
Saw this in theaters, and was one of the first DVD's I rented. II don't think it's as nearly not as bad as everyone says it is. It's not great, but it's still entertaining.
Godzilla 1998 is really a remake of The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms, which inspired the original 1954 Godzilla. So Godzilla '98 is a remake of a movie that inspired Godzilla '54, which inspired '98 to be made.
I love how at 7:44 Billie sounds genuinely pissed. Like, you know when even he stops laughing and starts getting angry at a bad movie, you know it's REALLY bad.
I remember seeing Maria Pitillo on a talk show before the movie came out (I think it was Jay Leno) where she said she hadn't seen the movie yet. She talked about having a dream where the movie was really bad and Godzilla looked like awful CGI. Her dream turned out to be on the money.
Clearly, with so many Simpsons voice actors in this, this started out as a Simpsons TV special and then escalated. It might've been better if it was a Simpsons episode, tbh.
I remember seeing Godzilla with my brother and dad in theaters. Found it boring but what's funny is my younger brother loved it. Ended up buying the VHS. I actually liked the animated series more as it's what Godzilla 98 should have been.
25:45 - that must've been some hardcore EDM that guy was listening to. Hey, maybe he thought the ground shaking was just the sick bass beats. 'GUYS GODZILLA IS ATTACKING' 'Yeah but gimme a sec the drop's coming up!'

There was a project planned four years prior called Godzilla vs. The Gryphon. It was supposed to be developed by the many of the same crew members who worked on Jurassic Park, the effects were going to be helmed by Stan Winston. The script was much better than what Roland Emmerich's writers came up with. Godzilla looked like a modern update of his classic design. Go search up Godzilla vs. The Gryphon from 1994, it's really something interesting.
The 94' version wasn't going to be called Godzilla vs. The Gryphon. It was simply titled Godzilla as it was the earlier version of TriStar film. Thankfully, some professional comic book artists & fans created an unofficial adaption on their website American Kaiju.
Comedy truly peaked in 1998 with Broderick's "That's a lot of fish" line.
And we would never come close to surpassing that singular moment ever since.
It works on so many levels. And to be fair he’s right; that indeed is a lot of fish.

@@danskyl7279 They were my favorite characters
I love all the Godzilla films but this one was very different not even a remake or reboot
Crazy how 2014 Godzilla took so many things that worked and failed in this one and made them so much better. It even took the concept of Emeric wanting a grounded disaster movie and actually pulled it off
That movie is goated and in my Top 10
As an adult, yeah the film isn't very good but I'd be lying if I said "I don't enjoy it." Definitely a guilty pleasure and a nostalgia trip when I watch it. One thing we can perhaps all agree on: David Arnold's musical score was spectacular.
The movement Audrey made stealing thel TOP SECRET thing reminded me of Swiper from Dora The Explorer. Audiences across the world could have yelled “Audrey No Swiping” to no avail.
While they did end up working together by the end, I can say with certainty that Godzilla vs Kong was not a tie.
The Animated Series was really good though as for the movie, it's ok as it's own thing even if it is copying the final act of Jurassic Park.
The cgi was like a bunch of highschoolers was on a animation project
Just found your channel. Hilarious commentary. Subscribed
i was an extra in this movie! i came out of my office and they were filming..they said 'run scream and point up to the sky..we will CG the rest in later!"
That is awesome!
Godzilla was the lost 5th Ninja Turtle swimming into town just looking for his bros, then the humans got in his way.
It is so f*cked that Stan Winston's Godzilla design and the 1994 script never got made because the studio didn't like the budget. Funny thing is this movie costed twice as much as the budget intended for the 94 film.
The entertainment industry is so silly, lol
That honestly remind me of Venom a bit. But at least there when Eddie Brock did what he did, not only was rightfully fired but his girlfriend rightfully broke up with him after she lost her job because of it.
In this movie the woman basically ruined his life but she makes it as though it’s his fault instead. Truly despicable.
And they both have songs by popular artists of the time.
@@XanderPGK And are from Sony
Still a bad film
@@Galvatronover Nah its not. Its a guilty pleasure of a lot of people.
This movie isn't even that bad. It has some fun moments.
It's only bad as a Godzilla movie. As a straight-up monster flick it's stupid fun.
faxx, i love this film
I thought the film was a good movie
XD loved it. I remember borrowing it eight times as a kid. LoL. Made my childhood.
It's a horrible film and legit the worst Godzilla film by a mile.
Love how Godzilla ravaged New York.... politely....
This is lowkey one of my favorite movies. I used to watch it everyday back in high school, I thought it was bad then, but it helps me sleep😂
Or maybe elementary school I can’t remember
I had this movie on VHS as a kid (ages 4 - 6) & would watch it nonstop, lol
Man this movie was fire for me as a kid...the cartoon was great too.
Soundtrack was dope too! Doesn’t hold up anymore but back then that soundtrack was on repeat for me
Same here
Remember watching my VHS of it a lot as a kid
I could hear the Taco Bell chiuawa plushies as soon as I saw the thumbnail.
"Here, lizard lizard...heeeerrreee lizard..."
"I think I need a bigger box..."
OMG YES!! This was my childhood favorite!! Gonna watch the hell out of this review
I love how at 7:44 Billie sounds genuinely pissed. Like, you know when even he stops laughing and starts getting angry at a bad movie, you know it's REALLY bad.
When one of the troops said we need bigger guns, I laughed my ass off while thinking to myself no shit 😂😂😂😂
I remember seeing Maria Pitillo on a talk show before the movie came out (I think it was Jay Leno) where she said she hadn't seen the movie yet. She talked about having a dream where the movie was really bad and Godzilla looked like awful CGI. Her dream turned out to be on the money.
I use to have this movie on VCR as a kid this movie is such a guilty pleasure 🙇🏾♂️
Same. This was a movie I would repeatedly watch nonstop as a kid :3
Clearly, with so many Simpsons voice actors in this, this started out as a Simpsons TV special and then escalated.
It might've been better if it was a Simpsons episode, tbh.
I watched this movie many times as a child. It's been forever since I watched it will probably give it a re-watch
33:25 "Surprise bitch!" Oh god I died.
"Caught ya slipping! Caught ya slipping!" 🤣🤣
I remember seeing Godzilla with my brother and dad in theaters. Found it boring but what's funny is my younger brother loved it. Ended up buying the VHS. I actually liked the animated series more as it's what Godzilla 98 should have been.
OMG, I still have my VHS of it as well!
It was my introduction to Godzilla even though it’s not all that great
38:15
Somehow this still makes more sense than the plot of Jurassic World Dominion.
I actually liked this movie. Saw it on my Birthday. As a monster movie, it’s pretty good. But as a Godzilla movie, not so much. G-fan since I was 5.
I still listen to the Puff Daddy song every now and then...
4 Real I like that joint.
“Come with me” lmaaaaao

You poor soul
Then you learn about Kashmir by Led Zeppelin.
Godzilla at the humans this entire movie: 'STOP HITTING YOURSELF! STOP HITTING YOURSELF! STOP HITTING YOURSELF!'
35:42 I swear everytime this man laughs I laugh too😂
25:45 - that must've been some hardcore EDM that guy was listening to. Hey, maybe he thought the ground shaking was just the sick bass beats.
'GUYS GODZILLA IS ATTACKING' 'Yeah but gimme a sec the drop's coming up!'
This movie should've been a remake of The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms. It's got more to do with that than it does with Godzilla by a country mile.
I see this comment a lot and I don’t think that it does at all.
That's because Roland Eimmeric doesn't like Godzilla and basically made the movie as non Godzilla as possible
@@sebastiancintron29 it's true 😧😧😧
After all these years, after numerous passive viewing (Dentist's Office, Office Cafeteria TV, etc), you have now cursed me with the knowledge of Zilla cloaca.
This knowledge is cursed knowledge.
It was also a callback to their Zootopia review when Martin complained that there was no vagina or butthole shown in the naturist club scene LOL
He's named after the guy who created the sfx - Patrick Tatopoulos. And Hank Azaria's character is awesome
I always felt bad for the old man on the dock. The man was just trying to go fishing. In my head he made it safe.
My Childhood is hilarious! Matthew deserved an Oscar for this performance!
And Inspector Gadget the next year.
"Fuck Daredevil, the man with no fear is here!"
I died and my ghost is typing this comment 🤣
Tank girl.. .tank girl .....tank girl!!!!!!!!! Yall gotta do this review
YAAAAASS! That would be hilarious!! My fav line was, "Did you have to her that!? Did you have to tell that?!? Did you have to tell her that?!?!?!?!? GET YO ASS OUTTA HERE!!!"😂🤣😂🤣😂
I think they should do Saturn 3 or The Jazz Singer remake with Neil Diamond
Oh I love love love Tank Girl! I'd love to see the toasties take the trip down memory lane in a tank 🥽📢🚬🚱 🦘
Superman 4 quest for peace. Would be hilarious
He said, fuck daredevil, the man without fear right here 😂😂😂😂😂
There was a project planned four years prior called Godzilla vs.
@@i.m.evilhomer5084 I gotta get my hands on that.
@@colerogers3681 Good news! It's completely free!
One of my favorite childhood movies, still have it on DVD.
Not only do I luv this movie, I luv the late 1990s
Love*
The whole 1990s in film was great.
Wish I was born earlier to experience them, but I wasn’t born until 1995 so I don’t really remember those final few years that well :(
In the animated tv series they even brought back the original Godzilla from the 1998 movie as a walking cyborg version like of Megagodzilla(ish)
Man I love this movie to death. Just brought it on 4K a few weeks ago
Fun fact! If you step on a gumball it will squash!
