Once when i prepared the batter, the batter turned out to be somewhat thin consistency after fermenting. I added ragi flour to make it thicker and steam it. It turned out well with with brown color idli.

Maybe. You can try it and let others know how it comes out. Frist try a small batch. In this video, she is saying the grind the rice to fine paste. But in other channel videos, they are saying, dal should be ground findely and rice should be little coarse when grinding. If you follow this method, then you CAN'T grind dal and rice together rice should be coarse grind while dal should be fine grind. If you grind both together, then this batter maybe good for dosa but not for idli. I have watched a video where the chef is saying she always grind both dal and rice together and there is no problem. You can try in small quanity first.

Why add Eno if you can avoid. (Eno is ideally meant for indigestion). I do know people who add though. I add one hand full of the previous days cooked rice. I do not add yeast. It turns out good.

Idali k liye urad dal use karte h. Chana dal nahi use karte
Pls use urad dal. And ferment it properly. U can add two tea spoon oil and a pinch baking soda before steam idli

When to add salt ?
I read in a video that adding salt is helpful during summer to prevent over fermentation. I added salt after fermentation just for the taste of idli.
