  • Identify your weaknesses. Target your weaknesses. Crush your weaknesses with tender love and practice. Clockwise movement = lead with the right hand. Counterclockwise movement = lead with the left hand.

Yes. Always room for improvement. Some of us, like me, have a little more room than others. 🤣🥁❤

I was working on it so hard 94 to 97. Blazing singles around the kit and a RR on the Floor tom and then leading with singles back to the snare drum.

What I've found really useful over the years is putting the odd number on the outside. It's an old gospelchops trick that all the guys like Eric Moore, Thomas pridgen, Justin brown,... use to get around the kit (We're all from the same area) 3(sn)-2(rt)-2(rt)-3(ft)-2(rt)-2(rt)-3(sn)
You can use any bookend combination to get up and down and around the kit once you get used to the way if feels.

Nice job! Double stroke roll is another way to do it...
    Snare: RR
    Tom1: LL
    Tom2: RR
    Tom3: LL
    Tom3: RR
    Tom2: LL
    Tom1: RR
    Snare: LL
I'm sure y'all have tried this...

Fantastic! You sir are a beast! Lots of good information. Fine example of identifying a weakness and how to practice to correct the problem! I didn't know I wanted to left hand lead counterclockwise on the toms, but looks like I do now!!

Same here bro. After playing for 20+ years. I can do a lot of things that people consider impressive but still struggle occasionally with some of the most simple stuff.

Hey Josh, just another great lesson from yours! Thank you very much - also interesting is to play 3 strokes on the last instrument in a roll (instead of the bassdrum) and change the leading hand in that way. Whatever, keep it up and let's go practice! 😃👌🏼 all the best and greetings from germany, Jochen

Nice! I enjoy a similar exercise of Double Paradiddling up and down my 5-piece set. The diddle ends on the floor tom (clockwise) and snare (counter clockwise).

13:05 You play wrist action that`s why you`re sweating. Try the same with `bounce` only. Dennis Chambers style :)

So playing the double kick in between should then free up the right hand to go into a groove, else it'd be awkward getting the right stick from finishing on, say, the snare and then onto the high hat. Although going into a groove after a double kick would involve an extra kick on the 1. In essence, a triple kick.
