Anna is a GEM! So much talent, kindness, dedication, love and so humble despite having every motive to be proud of her accomplishments. What a wonderful woman!
The gardens were amazing! Lalande needs some swings in the Forrest! A few flowers around..picnic areas that blend with nature..that's what comes from all your adventures! Ideas galore!! It was nice to see you visiting Phillip & Anna again. They are a fun couple!
I have watched you for years but for some reason as you were strolling to the garden I couldn’t help but think to myself about how many places I’ve never been and will never go to yet watching you I have seen so much of the world and it’s all been done so you are seeing it from your point of you not the commercialized parts and I’ve enjoyed it so much so thank you Stephanie and Phillip.
Anna's wallpaper is gorgeous. When you were describing what it would be like to be an insect in the bamboo grove, you looked so much like your mother. I think it was the flip of your hair; it was striking.
It’s the green dress curse! Happened to me in Greece when I had to go to a wedding last minute. I found a dress the night before and had it hemmed the same day. At the wedding I had something oily fall on my lap and I blame my husband of course 😂 (it’s always the men!). Brought it back to Canada and got it to the dry cleaners a week later. Went to pick it up the next week and it had disappeared 🤦♀️ that was so dramatic. I was upset cause I’m a plus size girl and it’s rare to find such a beautiful dress last minute. I got a call finally the next day and they found it. Thank god but what a saga. Hope you’re able to get that oil out.
They're a bit too minimalist for me ...I like antiques. But I ADORE Anna's wallpaper & artistic flair!! Even though their kitchen is pristine, immaculate 7 beautiful now ...I was sad they took so much of the historic atmosphere in it & wiped it clean from the past.
Love the interiors of their chateau, Anna and Phillip have great taste. You look gorgeous in that green dress Stephanie. Those gardens absolutely beautiful💚
So enjoyed your escapade in Normandy, it's so beautiful. Stephanie you are so real... Lol you make me laugh. I want to say Thank You, for sharing your journey as Chatlanders and showing bits of your lives. Hugs to you all... Anna and Phillip are just precious, I watch them as well 🥰
Steph, use the Dawn Dishwasher available almost everywhere in the world. Dawn, will take care of even old oil stains. Dawn is used to get the oil out of penguins' feathers when an oil rig strands or spills oil. I use Dawn on any old oily food spot on my clothes, and Dawn takes care of the stains every time 100%.
Incredible Trip, Fabulous Views,What a Beautiful Forest Such a Happy Few Days Away, Anna & Phillip Have a Beautiful Home , and are great Company, So Happy for you all 👌👍👏👏👏🥰🥰
Beautiful gardens and ideas for gardens in the Chateaux. Love the paneling of the 18th century. I know that Lalande lost a lot of paneling due to the fire. Hope that more can be replaced one day, not just the Grand Salon. ❤
The gardens were magnificent. I found the heads strange but not creepy. The town looked very quaint and relieved Stephanie could purchase a change of clothes. Hoping you saved the dress from the olive oil. Phillip and Anna were the perfect hosts. They have a stunning chateau filled with Anna's creativity.❤
This is a particular style of garden. It's not everybody who can maintain those perfect shapes. It's not my favorite style but I can appreciate all the work done here. Probably they figure it out with the temperature, environnement, types of trees ther also.
The views and the gardens are just thrilling. The perfection of all the topiaries. loved the unusual daisies. The heads looked more like old men to me. I really enjoyed your whole day. Merci
Thank you for bringing us to those most unusual gardens. We'll probably never be able to visit them in person so it was a wonderful treat to get to experience a little of their wonder.
Oh, Scallops Risotto! And Camellias! The views around Normandy were breathtaking. The hedges were works of art. Thank you so much, Steph and Philip, for this lovely tour.
No matter where you go, you teach and instruct your audience in a myriad of ways. I have never experienced anything like this before. You are a gifted speaker, and your breadth of knowledge regarding art history, decor, period furnishings, and European history is overwhelming and impressive. Your relationship with Philip is also instructive and a joy to see. You both seem to genuinely enjoy each other's company. This type of conversation between partners -- supportive, without judgment, empathetic, humorous, is unimaginable in America. Can there be intimate relationships in America? I am a regular viewer of the Chateau Diaries and am happy that you enjoyed your visit to Normandy.
Really? What's the point of partnership at all if you can't have that? I realize I've been lucky to have this as well, deep friendship, romance and intimacy hand in hand. I don't see why Americans can't have that if they want it.
Omg! You’re in my old town!! I lived on the main road my place was called the Villa du belle aire….or something like that….I searched it and they’ve painted my villa a horrid pink color. Oh the memories! Thank you!😊💙
Stephanie, you’re the epitome of style and grace and elegance! You handled the oil like a champ. If it were this NYC mama, first- cussing up a storm second- flipping out because it’s silk, 3- I would be demanding they pay for dry cleaning! 🤣🤣😜 I wish at 57 years of age, I could be more like you. Instead, I’m a mix of trucker and sailor, with a Huge heart.♥️ I love it when you visit Ana and Philipp. Such a nice family. Love from sunny 🌞 Florida. (It was 80f today)
THOUGHT: Anna, if Benwah can’t make you a custom island for the center of the dressing room (with drawers and cubbies for laundry baskets…on wheels), consider using two identical dressers back-to-back and lay a nice piece of stone or marble (matching the bathroom) on top. It will obviously give you more storage (for jumpers, lingerie, hosiery, etc., but also a beautiful surface for a vase of flowers, picture frames, a tray of perfumes and so forth! Hope you give it a thought! Outside of that, I enjoyed the video very much Steph - thank you.
Oh, I'm so sorry about your dress! That has happened to me when the nozzle of the spray bottles have not been cleaned properly and have got something in the opening gumming them up. I hope your dress has not been ruined. Hot water and soap should have been able to save it. What a lovely garden and place to have a picnic or glass of wine you have brot up! So lovely!
I love both couples - aren’t they just so wholesome and genuinely lovely. (Anna’s) Philip’s wicked sense of humor has me in stitches or rolling my eyes every single time!!! Thank you for cheering me up so much🙏🏽
I love seeing all your friends chateaus! I cannot believe how they replicated the paneling. Normandy, though nippy, looks like so much fun. The Americans need to adopt the pet friendly restaurant policy!
When I lived in California the dogs were always welcome on the patio, or sidewalk seating. 'Health codes' keep them outside. Frankly, I think it depends on the dog.
I watch both of your you tube channels❤ Love the garden minus the heads. There was a lot of inspiration there for Philip @How to renovate......😊 You are an inspiration Stephanie, nothing gets in the way of you having fun (not even oil all over your dress)❤❤❤
What a garden!! Imagination made solid!! I never seen such a beautiful green design topiary, very original and dreamy. This garden shows that you don´t need flowers, only different shades of green. A lot of work though!! I can see many gardeners working frantically to keep all the forms and shapes intact. A lovely city too. A very nice excursion with good friends! Thank you for sharing, I enjoyed it a lot!
I love their decor... so clean, classic and non cluttered. Anna is so creative! The ocean views and headlands remind me of our historical village here in Mendocino, CA
they do seem to do mimalist style. but then everything is tall and seems wide that less looks less and well the lack of curtains and the furniture they have also seem to seem to emphasize mimimiism
A French Chateau was never meant to be a 'Minimalist Modern Mansion'!!! 😉 Of course, some people adore that style ...but then why not build new? For me it not only wipes away lovely memories of the past & historical context/import ...but it subtracts from the fantasy of another time & place as well. Actually, I think Anna (a designer) was shooting for a 'happy medium' between the past & more modern aesthetics. @@jomeyer13
Visited and stayed the night in the lovely town of Étretat back in 2017 in Normandy. We did the same climb up those wonderful cliffs and bought hats and sweaters too!
It was so nice to see some more history, this time in Normandy with Anna and Phillip. I agree with you Steph, the baby heads made me feel rather uneasy, loved the hedging though!
what a lovely part of france! i agree with you about the creepy baby heads - the hedges are gorgeous though. i love being at the ocean but unfortunately sometimes you get the fog and the rainy weather but who cares right.
The baby heads in the garden remind me of the witches giant baby in the anime movie “Spirited Away” and the many armed man in the bathhouse water mixing area was Sulemond ( not sure of spelling 😂) so I was surprised to see the baby heads, very similar. The gardens are stunning, they must be beautiful when in flower. 🙋🏼♀️
Lol i loved Phillips escort comment you have such a great sense of humour but can also show yourself as a very clever knowledgeable women i lived todays vlog was great fun while showing us some beautiful places xx😊
I love outdoor art installations! I’ve often thought you should have an art walking trail at La Lande. I can just see characters from your father’s paintings peeking out from behind the trees!
The faces in the garden remind me of people squinting in the sun while enjoying the view. Of course you didn’t have sun so they looked kind of creepy! I love watching Phillip and Anna’s channel. Phillip is funny!
Best rips i go working i a restaurant was red stains use soda water to lift the srain. For oily stains dab with a little dish wash detergent and rub a little, then wash as normal. Good luck
Anna would probably already know this, but talcum powder gets oil out of clothing. I eat out a lot & somehow end up with something oily on my clothing. I just cover the stain in talcum powder & leave it for a few days to soak up the oil, then shake the excess powder off & launder the item as usual. Works better with natural fibres than it does with synthetic.
Such an enjoyable video! Loved the dress story and the gorgeous gardens, 'insect grass', that incredible view and the unique swing! So glad I found this channel 🌻
Thank you Stephanie for reminding me of Etretat. I went there in the 80s and had a wonderful day. We spent the morning exploring the cliffs and admiring the views from the top. In the afternoon we lazily floated in the sea looking at the cliffs from below. The beaches in Etretat are covered with pebbles and it is very painful on the feet to reach the water so if you go there bring shoes for swimming. In the evening we had a huge meal at L'huitriere, a wonderful restaurant with sea views. Regarding your dress, the worst thing to put on oil is water. I guess your dress is still stained, put some Savon de Marseille on the stains before washing the dress, the stains will disappear, and it won't damage the colour.
What a super day you had, hope you were able to get the oil out of your dress.. seems almost serendipitous that you had to change to leggings and jumper given the huge climb ahead ! So interesting to see such an unusually garden .. is that where Phillip (Anna) got his topiary ideas from ? .. I'd have liked the bush baby heads sculpture if the heads had more sweet restful expressions. And the house! .. wow. Thank you for taking us along.. and yes me too since I was a child have looked at old derelict buildings with wistful imagination of how I would make it beautiful again. Obvs why I watch your channels ! Anna is so talented and Phillip amongst other talents has a great wit .. though don't tell him I said that 😉 .. lovely people.
Glad you had a nice visit with Anna. She is such a sweet person.
I like Anna & Philip!
Love Philip’s poker face when he actually has some jokes up his sleeves!❤
Anna is a GEM! So much talent, kindness, dedication, love and so humble despite having every motive to be proud of her accomplishments.
What a wonderful woman!
That made me laugh Stephanie "do u come here often"😂😂😂
Enjoyed seeing Anna and Philip again. Such a lovely Chateau they have, and doing so many wonderful renovations,
The 4 of you really really ought to do more videos together.
Anna is so kind and reassuring.
The emergency outfit looked great, I'd stick with 'style consultant' Anna 😊
I think that wallpaper Anna made is as lovely as any I’ve seen, she’s so talented.
What a lovely visit, those gardens are so beautiful, except for those creepy heads!

their chateau is splendid.everything was done with impeccable taste and everything is neat, clean and looks just perfect.great meticulous work.
They must not have to worry about preservation of histor. if they could take down walls etc.
Stephanie, your sense of humor is a rare commodity.
Beautiful Normandy!!! Thank you for the lovely tour!!!
Love the interiors of their chateau, Anna and Phillip have great taste. You look gorgeous in that green dress Stephanie. Those gardens absolutely beautiful💚
Very lovely visit. I totally love her taste in decoration (great choice of paint colors, classy). The visit of the town was nice as well. ❤

Love the Clair de Lune by Debussy at the end in the gardens, completes the atmosphere.
Liquid dish soap 30 hour before washing will take that right out, Stephanie
That view of the fog oozing 12:55 around the cliffs and seashore is just wonderful!
The Gardens are so amazing, it must have taken years to produce this beauty! Worth the hike to the top.🇨🇦
I’m glad you had such a nice visit together. The four of you are my chateau binge watching addiction. 💜
Me too 😀
I loved exploring with you. Anna and Phillip are fantastic. What a beautiful place.

Dish soap removes olive oil. rub some on, wash in the washer as usual.

The garden was a wow moment..I`v never seen anything like that before

I have happy memories of visiting this area many times. Especially Honfleur harbour and the yachts and lunching outside by the waterside. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🍷🍷

that cliff and beach and gardens and landscape is gorgeous.❤
bamboo is invasive and a nightmare ! i loathe it.
Oh my goodness I loved this vlog! Stephanie you have such an adorable sense of humour and light hearted attitude. xxx
Thank you for taking us on your trip during the day, those gardens are amazing but, like you, the childrens' head sculptures freaked me out a bit.
Anna is so sweet. I really liked your new outfit. What a view overlooking the water, beautiful gardens too. 🦋
Ohh the gardens and landscaping look absolutely beautiful.
Thank you, Stephanie and Philip 😂

Beautiful gardens and views
It was perhaps a goid idea on the swing in the garden to be very silent for a minute, to let us enjoy the serenity too😊
That garden was impressive. Did not like those creepy heads.
Aren't you glad you had changed out of the dress prior to the cliff climbing?? Amazing views of the garden.
Stephanie, you are the best always! That Green colour on you is outstanding you should wear that colour more just beautiful !!!!!!
And it made her eyes look very green!

Cover the oil spots with Dawn dishwashing detergent. It works!
Dawn Power Wash works well too.

It's great that you don't get bend out of shape over your dress but I don't think water had a chance against oil 😉 What a garden! Amwzing ❤

Normandy looks beautiful! Thanks for bringing us along!!
Oh such a beautiful happy video. Such lovely scenery and gardens. Thank you Stephanie for such an enjoyable trip.
There must a load of gardeners who keep the topiaries trimmed. This is such a beautiful sculptures gard. I agree the baby heads is a bit creepy.
I see the garden was worth the trek it took to get there

I thought the heads were old bald men. The entire garden was fantastic, thank you so much for sharing.
What an impact a little spraybottle can have.... but it's nice to watch how you cope with it!!!😁
I’m so glad that I’m not alone (ie. weird) in feeling sorry for derelict houses & wanting to restore them & make them happy again 🥰🇨🇦
The hedge gardens were inspirational and very beautiful! Lovely vlog!🙏❤️
The only thing about bamboo, it can become very invasive.
