Getting my inQ fix in 2022. I hope he’s still out there prospering in life! I remember first seeing this guy in some underground battleraps dvd i picked up at bestbuy one night.
Rakim: "I got a question, it's serious as cancer. Who can keep the average dancer hyper than a heart attack?" Rakim was no joke because he felt like no one could come near him lyrically. He thought he was rich, hence "Paid In Full". Back then it was cool to dance, you had to dance or you were corny. Now it's the opposite. that's the point.
Damn, i dropped some tears...but common guyz, hip hop neva gon die, soul s not dead, beethovens not dead, music doesnt die as long as we still listen to it and enjoy it.
I love this poem and I love his voice!!! it's sooooo... i can't find the word but i love it.and it is true what he is saying. music isn't as good as it used to be.
Hip Hop never left, never died, never "evolved"... Hip Hop is still in the same essance it was when it was born...The issue right now is there are quite a few individuals who are standing and blocking the view of the true essance of hip hop...They scream hip hop but they are not emcees...My question is why do people call them "Hip Hop"? These individuals sing "Pop" music and nothing more...The underground is vastly larger than the mainstream...Just move the popstars out the way so you can see
Amazing how he only talks about the rap side of Hip Hop but doesn’t mention any Graff artists or Breakers with only like 2 mentions to DJs People need to realize that Hip Hop is a culture and that it’s not just rap Also Hip Hop never died, people just stopped following the movement because it wasn’t commercialized all the time✌🏾
yea i know but its only so much they can speak on. i wanna hear new talent spit the real jcole, kendrick, joey badass, and logic are the only people i see doing that
Damn right, we all feel this! Every word out of his mouth is true. Hip Hop was fun back in the day. But now, it's pure bullshit if you ask me. How I miss the old days.
@Megidramon its not dead just going threw stages cause its all business now, soon they will move to techno and Hip hop will come back. Me honestly i wish all artist in all genres didn't sign to record labels music would have much diversity and culture.
Sounds like he wanted to hear MTV hip hop, there's a reason why guys like Rakim were no joke, because they were poor, there's nothing fun about having to sling crack in the hood to survive.
well if you want to listen to hip hop artist that you can relate to try listening to some atmosphere, mackelmore ,soulstice, felt, cam meekins, or common but idk if you'll like them b/c idk you
theres a good page on facebook called The Poet believe you can find it with this email dapoetnme@gmail.com theres some good poetry I read on there just saying
Hip-Hop is dead, Rap is its dead remains yet idiots and fools lose themselves in stupidity, forgetting what it meant to have true passion instead of living out the fantasies of a 12 year old boy.
You do know mainstream rap is corporate backed and packaged, right? So whatever you hear on the radio and television is what the masses are buying. But a lot of blacks agree with him in that hip-hop is a shell of it's former self now. At least the mainstream garbage with a few sprinkles of decent lyrics here and there.
if you see hip hop as a culture then you've no idea how off base your comment is. As a music "rap" as it is now is horrible and the CULTURE of hip hop is all but dead. When life started to imitate art instead of the other way around hip hop died. "Where were you the day hip hop died"
2023 and still listening to this man
This is a true tribute to Hip hop!
Christine Dehner word.
"WHEN HAPPINESS WASN'T LOOKED DOWN UPON".. damn! That hits hard in these days. ✌️

I LOVE HIS SINGING APPROACH LOL I LOVE THIS POEM
i love how it's almost completely silent during his delivery. his flow is so dope, it would be a crime to let it be stopped.

Hip Hop never left, never died, never "evolved"... Amazing how he only talks about the rap side of Hip Hop but doesn’t mention any Graff artists or Breakers with only like 2 mentions to DJs
People need to realize that Hip Hop is a culture and that it’s not just rap
Also Hip Hop never died, people just stopped following the movement because it wasn’t commercialized all the time✌🏾
Makes me think of a song by Ms Hill.
REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!
Hip hop is still fun, it just lives in the underground now. Commercial hip hop is wack and has been for over a decade now.
not even underground anymore most wanna be gangster rappers. the true art form of hip hop is frozen in a cave somewhere!
MrGramz09 Immortal Technique, Brother Ali, KRS One, Rakim and numerous others are still keeping it alive.
yea i know but its only so much they can speak on. i wanna hear new talent spit the real jcole, kendrick, joey badass, and logic are the only people i see doing that
MrGramz09 I'm not familiar with Joey Badass but your sentiment is mutual in regards to Kendrick and Jermaine Cole.
Amen
LMAO!! I was thinking the same thing.
like this here
amazing. does anyone know where i can watch his Mr Black & Mr White ?
Is THAT who that is??? OMG!!! I love that show!
Damn right, we all feel this! Every word out of his mouth is true. Hip Hop was fun back in the day. But now, it's pure bullshit if you ask me. How I miss the old days.
If you like this guy, listen to his song with Presto called "Still Here." Very dope song. It's on the album "State of the Art."
❤️🔥
🔥
That just about covers all of it. I think we're done here
Agreed. This guy told the truth. I am a true old school hip hop fan. Between 1986 and 1995, hip hop was fun.
Mac Miller brings joy to rapping even though he is white he's got the funk
Rip Mac Miller ❤
Where is this guy now?
word
Damn.
my replay button is broke :(
That shit was real
No, it just retreated underground.
@Megidramon its not dead just going threw stages cause its all business now, soon they will move to techno and Hip hop will come back. Me honestly i wish all artist in all genres didn't sign to record labels music would have much diversity and culture.
I'm always torn between loving and hating this piece.
That's why I stick to the Underground and Indie Hip-Hop.
yep, those days are certainly missed.... g-g-g-g-g- gee-unit >:(

Scienz of Life -Yikes (Instrumental)
Excellent poem but DZK is and always will be, the best ever.
The guy, Jared Padalecki, is one of the lead characters on the show 'Supernatural', now.
Sounds like he wanted to hear MTV hip hop, there's a reason why guys like Rakim were no joke, because they were poor, there's nothing fun about having to sling crack in the hood to survive.
I know. I paid attention to that too. Bu tI think it made it better. The irony was intended.
If you guys like this video you might like Good Music by Team Philly BNV 2011.
@p2eas3 Your statement just proved that Hip-Hop is dead.
@32Pariso Why? Hip Hop has not color.
@DJOlSkoo And that's the point. You don't get it. =(
But did he smile though
Church

Tupac was NEVER a dancer for Digital underground. He definitely was a part of the group .. but NEVER just some dancer
well if you want to listen to hip hop artist that you can relate to try listening to some atmosphere, mackelmore ,soulstice, felt, cam meekins, or common but idk if you'll like them b/c idk you
Check out Artistic Manifetso for good noncommercial hip hop rap and other music
theres a good page on facebook called The Poet
believe you can find it with this email dapoetnme@gmail.com
theres some good poetry I read on there just saying
Hip-Hop is dead, Rap is its dead remains yet idiots and fools lose themselves in stupidity, forgetting what it meant to have true passion instead of living out the fantasies of a 12 year old boy.
Lol....
The bad part is that music is WAY WORSE now
You do know mainstream rap is corporate backed and packaged, right? So whatever you hear on the radio and television is what the masses are buying. But a lot of blacks agree with him in that hip-hop is a shell of it's former self now. At least the mainstream garbage with a few sprinkles of decent lyrics here and there.
no he isnt.
im no where near racist but it a shame it took a white man to say the real bout hip-hop
He sound like a paster
if you see hip hop as a culture then you've no idea how off base your comment is. As a music "rap" as it is now is horrible and the CULTURE of hip hop is all but dead. When life started to imitate art instead of the other way around hip hop died. "Where were you the day hip hop died"
luv it but didn't like his delivery.
What the... ah nevermind. I am glad that he likes it.. but I don't think he gets why it got angry and why it is almost castrated.
